  • I recently came upon an old video from a vacation to Walt Disney World from 1992. I was excited to visit the new adult entertainment area Pleasure Island that had opened at the resort in 1989. The Adventurers Club turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip and we ended up going almost every night of our stay. Closed forever in 2009 and torn down to make way for the Disney Springs Mall, it will be missed by those of us who enjoyed the improvisational theater that went on there nightly with an amazing cast of performers. I think it was one of the Disney Company's greatest achievements and is sorely missed by it's fans. Also included is an excerpt from the nightly New Years Eve Show that took place out in front of the club. Guests were advised to leave the club to see the festivities and then come back for a late night sing-a-long in the club's library. Some really great memories. It's pathetic that the amazing clubs at Pleasure Island were replaced by chain stores like Sephora, Coach and The Rainforest Café instead of unique Disney created entertainment, but that's the 21st century.
The Adventurers Club was a themed nightclub in Pleasure Island at the Walt Disney World Resort. It was styled after a private club for world travelers and explorers and was set in 1937. The walls of the club were covered with artifacts and photographs from various explorations. The Adventurers Club featured animatronics, puppets, and a cast of adventurers who performed in shows and improvisational comedy while mingling with the club's patrons.

“We’ve finally done it! We’ve perfected time travel! History’s secrets revealed at our whim! Dinosaurs, the pyramids, all within our grasp! What mysteries will we uncov- what are you doing?”
Me, setting the dial to the early 90s: look… so theres this nightclub that closed when I was in middle school…

I'm so glad I stumbled on this! So many memories. Of all the things that are no longer a part of WDW, I think I miss this the most.

I went there with my family in 1991. It was a laugh having a beer and watching the entertainment. No one in this video seems to be drinking?

@@michaelsiebielec5554 I think that was part of the reason Disney got rid of the place and Pleasure Island in general. Guests were staying all night, but most didn't order that many drinks.

@@Brandis13 Well I did my part ordering drinks! 😁Another reason, as we are seeing now at Disney's CA Adventure with the closing of the Dr. Strange magic show in the new lame Marvel area, Disney management hates to pay union actors and musicians to perform.
