Or you can't hear it when you are playing back the project while the track is record enabled? This quick tutorial Explains how to fix it so you can hear the source you are recording no matter what is in focus in Logic or even when playing back the project, so you can practice the part before recording it.

I don't what to say, for like 10 years I thought there was no solution for this and I had to baby sit and arm tracks for live shows, and you completely changed my life lol. THANK YOU!
That simple explanation video is the reason RUclips exist. I would never have figured that the "I" was for input monitoring. Thank you so much!!
You kind of talked in a circle for 3 minutes and then boom,,,,, you fixed a problem Ive been dealing with for literally months. I thought for sure this was a bug and I was going to update to try to fix this. Unbelievable. You have to uncheck this box even after you check " enable advanced" so that it supposedly stops acting like garage band. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!!!! You made my day, my week etc etc
This has been bugging me for ages and your video completely fixed the issue. Thank you!
You're awesome man! My Logic reset itself after a crash. Your guide helped me seconds from pulling my hair out. Thank you!
Man, I have been bothered by this for months now. I'm glad I came accross this video. Thank you!
THANK YOU MAN!!!!!! I was going nuts....and now it's resolved!!
YOU ARE THE MAN ive been using logic for years now and never knew how to fix this. I thought logic just sucked hahaha
Thank You! I was about to turn crazy! love
Couldn't hear Voice Over during this demo but to be honest your narration is so precise I didn't lose anything. Thank you.
This was a VoiceOver free version of a tutorial that is already on the channel with VoiceOver.
Yess man solved a problem.. didn't know why effects for guitar wasn't working .. thanks again... blessings..
Concisely and precisely solved my problem. Thank you!!
AAAh Thank you so much for this! You have solved my problem of the day! I had no idea how to find that box to check! I appreciate you! :)
Simple, direct, short and sweet, but not rushed! Thank you Thank you! :)
Glad I could help!
The intended topic of this video isn't what I was looking for, but you did solve my problem--what I was looking for was to check mark the Software Monitoring box. Mine was unchecked and so I wasn't getting the reverb on my vocals. Thank you.
Just a tidbit here, I just experienced a similar problem and it was due to one of my plugins being out of date. So it wouldn’t let any audio play, not monitoring or recorded audio. Once I disabled that particular plugin I could hear myself again. If you do all this and it still doesn’t work then try disabling your plugins to see if one of them are causing the issue. For me it was auto-tune.
This is standard for plug ins that need to be authorized or activated to not pass audio until they are. Glad you were able to resolve your issue and thanks for sharing here as well incase someone else has a similiar issue.
helped me out again man thanks so much
Unfortunately cant hear myself when track is playing on monitoring headphones only when not playing ?
You just save me for tomorrow's ADR session thank you
Thank you. I don't know why it changed by itself!
Thanks so much for this. I downloaded Ginger Audio's Caster and the program changed this setting (I sure didn't)...it happened on 2 of my computers....all in ONE DAY.
One computer had the free version and the other had the paid version and by the end of the day I was tearing my hair out, but this saved me. Thanks again.
Awesome, not sure how I never knew this until now.
thank you ! I was getting ready to return my audio interface !
Yay!!! Seems like I need to re-learn Logic every time I'm in it... you saved me a ton of frustration. Subscribing now!
My hero! Thanks for clearing this up!
The second check did it for me, many thanks!

1:12 I thought it was only my setup that did this but logic changes the actual audio a lot from original output it's crazy..
Me too. I updated to logic 11.1 then it went back to this. I havent touch my settings for a year. 😂

Bro. THANK you for this video. Your concise explanation has helped me with this.
Holy shit, you saved my rig! Thank you!
Somehow during free weekend I had that checkbox unchecked for some reason (dunno why)
Obrigadooo, salvou minha gravação hahaha ❤😂

U saved my life brother !!! Subscribed nd liked ❤
I'm trying to rehearse myself playing guitar over a song before recording. Input Monitoring works perfectly till I hit PLAY. The rest of the tracks are loud and clear. The Guitar goes silent. I stop the Playback, and the Guitar sound comes back. Any suggestions?
the steps co red in this video should resolve that issue.
@@LogicBand I have the same issue, and ticking off the 'input monitoring only for the focused track' box isn't doing the trick unfortunately. The monitoring still falls silent when I hit play.
I found the solution! Tick OFF the R button (Record), and suddenly the Input Monitoring also works when you hit Play.
I really had to leave you a comment because you really did help me I couldn’t figure out how to enable my plug-in and I looked at a lot of different RUclips‘s you got right to the point thank you💯🙏🏾✊🏾
Legend Thank you good sir!
Life saver
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!
Thank you, Sir!
Thank you very much!
It works :) Thanks!
Thanks, great help!!
Glad it helped!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's so frustrating when a tiny little hidden check mark makes you lose an hour or more.
Great video dude
i never knew this - thanks!
Thanks a ton brother
Thank you!
Thank you so much! Trying to internally patch through USB (and then monitor) all 16 stereo audio pairs of my Roland Fantom has taken nearly there days to figure out - and every variation I tried fell over at keeping the monitoring on without having to record the audio at the same time as the MIDI was just not working out until this!
Excellent! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much..
LIFE SAVER
Awesome… thanks
Thank you
My i bottom has removed it so is there any solution to this
thank you i dont know how it happened but it randomly changed so any track that had monitor on would be active even if it wasn't selected or R was on it, this stopped it
thank you so much.....
u the king
thank you.
Perfect! gracias!
life saver!
What microphone are you using to record with for logic and what kind of boom arm do you have?
I have changed my set up a few times over the years and i don’t remember what i would of been using around this time.
Hello- the track controls that appear in your video above the "Setting" button are missing for me. Any idea why this might be? I'm using a Radial ProDI box into a Scarlett 2i4.
If you are referring to what I believe you are referring to, those only a pair with audio interfaces that support audio device control. I think apogee was really one of the only company that ever embrace the ability to do that and logic.
Very helpful. Thank you! Maybe you can answer this: How can I monitor a track that I am trying to record (or merge) on top of? For example: If I have a midi track and want to add a few notes to it or add some sustain pedal automation to it in record mode I cannot actually hear that track play once I've hit the record button. I know there is a way but I just can't figure it out.
do ou have replace mode on? if so turn it off.
@@LogicBand: Thanks for your reply: There is a check box in the "Customize control bar" settings (if that is the one you are referring to) but it did not effect this issue either way. Perhaps you are referring to a different setting (?)There has to be a setting somewhere but I just can't find it.
thanks a ton
Under "Track" when pressing the info button, I don't have any EQ options, no individual or stereo output nobs, nothing, it's just blank. Please help
in the mixer toolbar check the view options some of the elements may be unchecked.
and if I write on samples and on the internal card, do I need to disable it?)
Thanku g, good looking
Thank You!!! 🙏
I don’t have the green bar at all but I’m getting signal on my interface , you know what’s up with that?
it's possible you have direct monitoring enabled on your interface. This passes the signal directly from the inputs to the outputs or headphone jack. Turn off direct monitoring and turn on input monitoring in Logic to see your levels on the Logic meters.
hi i need help, im new to logic when I click a track I hear feedback noise and also hear my self speaking in the background. I don't know what I pressed or how to turn that off so I can hear my recorded audio without feedback sounds in the background. please help thank you
Sounds like you may have input monitoring, turned on, press, control, I to disable it.
@@LogicBand thank u!
Thanks, not ure how it tunred itself off, but 1:46 helped, thank you!!
Thank you! But I have another problem. My input monitoring only works when my project isn't playing. Very annoying
Dis you try the tip outline in this tutorial to see if it resolved it?
My input signal aren’t panning, what can I do?
was this sorted by the completion of the tutorial? Chances are if its not panning you may still have direct monitoring on.
@@LogicBand I dos fix it thank you! It was a setting from my interface
The info you're looking for is 3 minutes in, in case anyone is wondering.
Mannnn
😂 that’s wild
You are the life savior...
thank you!!!
Coming from pro tools this killed me my first 2 hours in logic lol
I am having an issue today where I do not even have a button for input monitoring
There is only Mute, Solo and record
Use the key command Control I or Right click on the track header (VO Shift M) and go down to track header components and select input monitoring from the sub menu
Thank yoy!!!
