- In this, episode 2 of “Cooking the States,” we’re going wayyy up north to Alaska! Alaska has a lot to offer and provides the United States with a HUGE chunk of its seafood so it only made sense to me to feature this famous sea monster, the King Crab. Cook on. 🤘🏻 Adam

I really dig your preso and video shooting and editing style! The Alabama BBQ culture is strong and unique with the white sauce being a central element. Bravo brother!
Sh*t dude, the crab claw arm bit, LOL 😂
Ocean spiders !!! My favorite ! AK born and raised , commercial fisherman. Long line for halibut and sablefish.
Heck yeah. That's cool.
Hey new subscriber from Colorado, what hooked me was you cooking the states. That being said please don't do rocky mountain oysters as the iconic Colorado dish. It's for tourists, and non natives, that think we all have cowboy hats, and ride our horses to work. Love the videos!
Hey dude! Thank you and welcome! Well, to be honest... I may or may not have some "oysters" ready to go in my freezer for the episode. But I hear you! I've spent a lot of time in CO and have friends who live there. Though it isn't an everyday staple, I do think it's an interesting and noteworthy dish worth highlighting. Also, I'll probably make my way back to a lot of these states at some point for round 2. Thanks again for the input! More to come.
@@AdamWitt if you do fry up the oysters, let me just say you got some balls! Again loving the content.
Loving the vids, amazing work.
Your quality is so much better than most cooking content creators on this platform.
Thank you my dude! I appreciate that.
You gotta make some garbage plates from Rochester NY!
This is my first time watching your content other than the short about honing knifes. Im a cook and I dont have any experience. With how you explain things, this will make me stay within this field of work for years. Thank you so much
Adam- I love that you are doing food from every state. That is wonderful.
Crab is one of my favorite foods. The 1st time I ate King Crab I cut my hands up badly but boy was it worth it. Blue Crab & Snow Crab/Opilio Crab are also from Alaska. I was stunned that you can get Blue Crab on the East Coast as well. I don't particularly like the Dungeness Crab. Thanks again, Adam. Tootles.
Heck yeah dude! Gotta be careful - crabs like to bite lol
Crab is zzzzeee best, when u do Maryland, please do ur take on our famous Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab, crab cakes, imperial, soft crabs, your call. And only use local made Wye River , J. o or Old Bay for ur seasonings.
“This part can be pretty wet”
Me: thats what she said
Just saw you on Steve’s channel making Da Chicago Beef and came over to check you out. Great job on the crab. I live in Alaska and we love to do our eggs benny with king crab. Subscribed and I will share with my foodie friends 👍👍👍
Those big ol’ hunks of crab meat got my mouth watering.
This was great to watch. I’m looking forward to this series and to seeing your channel blow up. ♥️
Aww thanks!
Great idea, we are looking forward to the series!
Thanks dude!

yummy freshy simple crabby
Yes babe!
Was it dead or just asleep from the walk in chill?
It was alive, just chilled out, literally, from the cold environment in the container.
@@AdamWitt How is that Alaskan when its not season? Checked Regalis, dont see anything that says they sell Alaskan.
How much did it cost for this bad boy
You can get a whole crab from around $300~ USD, but that's a starting place.
@@AdamWitt ye. Saw a 2.5kg king crab the other day for like $269. This one must be expensive asf.
@@thekiddocook1554 It wasn't cheap, then again crab never is.
@@AdamWitt I get fresh, frozen King Crab legs for about $16-18/lb. Snow Crab legs are about $7-8/lb. I can't get Blue Crab though. Blues are my favorites; they are the sweetest.
Only $700-$800 for the crab used in this video.
I see that your definition of “ live “ differs from mine, that poor thing is as dead as it gets. If you have ever seen a live crab you would know that they are pretty aggressive. Sticking a knife into them while they’re still alive is not humane at all, quite the opposite. To dispatch a live crsb, lobster or crayfish the only humane way is to put them in the freezer compartment of your fridge for a minute or two, they then go into a dormant state and then you can dispatch them.
Being a chef myself I tend to show the beasties some respect since they have had their lives taken to sustain mine.
Have a nice day….
If you're a chef you may want to educate yourself on crab a but more. If it was dead, they would have become sick after eating. Looks like he was in the dormant state when he was killed.
@@thecrlghshe really thought he was saying something😭😭
Like like your approach but could you please cut the homeboy affectation, it is not "creative" and you are not a ghetto dweller
