  • In this vid I compare two polar opposite w124's, which would you choose? In their current condition, there's not as big a price difference as one would thing between them.

    Mileage has never bothered me I always buy on condition. Engine can be changed/rebuilt a lot easier then welding a body up.

    Absolutely right. If you’re a connoisseur you don’t mind mileage when buying gems like this. Maintenance and preservation is everything.

    Man that blue w124 looks Beautiful!!! 😍🤩😍👌 The difference of a good maintenance beats that low mileage car... That's why high mileage car doesn't scare me... as long as it wasn't been driven and maintained by a lunatic... 😂😂😂👌 Nice video, cheers from Portugal. ✌️🇵🇹🇲🇿😎

    The blue 230 is absolutely gorgeous, considering the km's driven, are you sure the white one hasn't had a speedometer swap? Looks very rough for this kind of mileage it has driven. Looks like the white one has the water-based paint with all the rust and the blue the old solvent based paint.

      @oldmercguy  Год назад +6

      Yes I’m sure it hasn’t been swapped. The white one has been owned by an elderly lady since she bought it from the original owner back in 2007. It does have a history up until around 160k km but she didn’t have the cash to do much more that the bare minimum on it in the end. Still drives beautifully though and I will be bringing it up to scratch over the next month or two.

    Could you please do a video covering your camper, specifically which model it is (looks like a modified sedan) and how you went about building it and what all went into the project along with any issues arising from it??

    The 94 and onwards years rust differently. My 91 with almost 600.000 km driven in winter and salt have less and different rust than 94-95 cars with less than half the km and driven in almost no salt. The seats in the white one looks like the seats in a poorly maintained 800.000 km car. Very strange.

      Agree with you! The condition of the drivers seat will always tell you about how many miles on a Merc. I've had a 124 90' 300D with 500000 miles on it and the drivers seat was still in perfect condition.

    I wouldn’t call 115k miles low mileage. Sure it’s less than 240k but not like some W124’s found that have less than 60k or even 30k on them. Those generally look like they came out of a museum. Not sure how well they’re mechanically though

    2:26, those are actually the wheelcaps of the pre-facelift model, the facelift model like this one have a chrome outer ring on them.

      @oldmercguy  Год назад +2

      Not on South African produced w124's. These stayed the same until 94.

      @@oldmercguy How strange! also, i have a '90 300E that has the economy meter. I have never seen this color combination here in europe so that is special as well.

      @@oldmercguyHi there. Have a W124 300d 1991 6 cylinder. The average I get is about 21 MPG. I've the fuel pump serviced. Would the MPG improve if I maybe change injectors? Thanks for the good videos you produce 🤝

    In Australia, I own a 1994 W124 E280 Merc. with 478,000 kays on the clock in original mint condition in Spruce Metallic Green with Saffron Jade Leather, sun roof & original Mercedes Benz head unit with 10 disc stacker - an absolutely gorgeous car & the best around. It is in much better condition than the blue car, especially the paint which is perfect on my car. I'm sorry but both those cars don't rate against mine, simple as that!

    The blue 124 is called the mark 1 in some circles and the white one the mark 2 you can tell by the front grille paint wise the mark one is more reliable not many people have reported rust spots

    • @oldmercguy
      @oldmercguy  Год назад +1

      The m111 probably. Once harness issues are sorted out they run pretty much for ever with very few problems.

    In my world 37800 is nothing. My 300D gets 300000 on a set of rear brake pads and still has the original rear discs. It's at 743450 . 1800 km last week. 0 oil consumption.
