Used these when I was a teen. We called them Spoolies. I liked them but I have curly hair so every yup of cutler worked on me.
What ever hair that’s too short for the spoolies we would pin curl.

I remember these from the 60's and was excited to hear they're coming back. Dizzy, you brushed it out way, way too much. It was adorable when you first took them out. Just a couple of brushes would had been perfect.

I do think it was cute more defined that day I wanted something a bit smoother I was trying to show a more authentic vintage effect and I wanted to see how durable the curl was

Adorable Dizzy! Great job! We do have a photo shoot this June and we will show a more vintage style. So check back this summer on our website. :)

I used to use "Lock n Roll" in the 90s I loved them because they were rubber and worked on my thick long hair lol They were heated on curling irons on the base of the set before I rolled them on to my head. I love your hair. It came out nice!

I've never seen rollers like these -- how interesting! And cool that you were able to find modern dupes for the vintage ones. That said, these don't look too user-friendly for longer hair. But I liked the look of the curls you got from them! (Also love the darker streaks in the front of your hair to offset the brighter sections!)

thanks DaenaI I'm loving the darker front, its been a fun change, totally agree on longer hair not working as well with the rollers, , I think that hair much longer then shoulders would get tangled or pulled in these, or just not see very much curl.

Add that they're made of silicone which may not have much slip depending on hair texture and ...argh! i think I'd want to just cut them out. LOL

Yes totally agree hardly anyone does anything for short haired people so frustrating. Moose is a good idea

Mousse is so essential especially with my hair being short and fine

This was a really cool video . How neat was that to find new rollers that are the same as the old ones .
This set is so cute . You're lucky your hair curls so easy . Mine is straight as a pin .
I was thinking , they said to use these for "beach waves" , I wonder if you did wet your hair a bit , what will happen ? Also , end papers might help with the "fish hook ends .
I loved this tutorial . I also love different rollers , especially vintage styles .
I have to do wet sets , or they just don't last for me . I can't do the curling iron hard sets , or hot rollers . They just wont last for me more then an hour or two .
I just got some pillow rollers , so I am excited to try them out .
    Thanks for sharing this .
Love your hair setting videos :)

hi Shannon, I think that I might try wetting just the ends that being said I think that the hair might become very tight and tangled if you used this with wet hair, i might try on my manaquin head and see if it seems safe. I think that if you left this in overnight on straight hair even wrapped dry with a bit of setting lotion it should work

Hi , I was just looking at their web page . It says you can wet just the ends of the hair . They also said to start wrapping the hair mid the length of hair strand , but if course all their models had very long hair , so that was possible . I wish they did a demo with a short haired model .
Anyway , these are so cute . Can you post a comment if you sleep in them ? I am curious about if they are comfortable :)
Thanks for sharing these :) Have fun with them :)

I saw that about mid shaft but yeah with short hair, that wasn't possible. also if you notice the curls on the site look very modern, I read on some vintage sites that they were used intead of pin curls so I tried to wrap them like I was pin curling the hair, but as I said it's going to take practice. I will report back for sure if I sleep on them , but i did lay on the couch with them and they weren't uncomfortable to lay on, so I think they would be ok

    • @shannondawn44

Yes, I read the part about how they were supposed to do pin curl type curls , but yes , all the models had modern hair styles with them .
I think that these will have a lot of potential for vintage styles , because that is what the original ones were made for . The girls demonstrating just wanted beach waves .
      Thanks for replying :)

I can’t they are not comfortable enough but the curl is fast they are on mostly dry hair and I leave them in about and hour

My hair is your length: I was impressed with your pillow roller demo, so I bought some but my hair came out straight. I rolled my hair wet and I rolled my hair dry. What should I be doing to get bouncy curls?

    • @Dizzyknitsandcurls
      @Dizzyknitsandcurls  3 года назад +1

Are you letting it dry completely for several hours? Are you using setting lotion? Are the wrapping the hair around the roller at least two times? The smaller the roller the tighter and bouncier the curl

@@Dizzyknitsandcurls Thank you for taking the time to help me. I just used styling gel, not sure what to buy for setting lotion. If you have some advice, I'd appreciate it. (p.s. I sleep in them.)
