A few words to the blue Ferrari: Actually Gonzales raced exactly the shown blue Ferrari 625 in the 1955 Argentinian GP - He even was on Pole Position. He did that because his entrance was sponsored by the government of Argentina (and they wanted a blue car) and started that race as a guest in the Ferrari-Team. Gonzales wasn't a full member of the Team in 1955, he quitted after the 1954-season. Argentinia actually was his only race in the 1955-season
So great to see a current season play through, after binge watching previous seasons of Ritchie Axelson. I subbed not knowing if you’d ever do another season. I just patiently waited and hoped. To get a glimpse of Ole Richard “Gear Grinder” Axelson in action is a welcome surprise. On a personal note, with the plethora of dedicated racing RUclips channels, spanning sims and platforms...Your’s truly shines above the rest.
Nice recovery with a broken car, beautiful drive...i am glad you are back racing...nice to watch you drive and gif at the same time comments.see you at Monaco...
Always enjoy watching these, so thanks for posting. You're much better at this than I ever was using GP Legends (67) but I only have a joystick. The only improvement I guess you could possibly make would be to try hittin ght eapexes a bit later. Judging by the dark pavement, I think you're hitting a number of apexes early. Those cars from '55 were dangerous, but really required drivers to hang it out.
I did a lot of work on that track when it was being built, stuff to improve the FPS and other problems with the different variations of it, 3 tracks if I remember maybe.. Your welcome, glad to see it being used.
Just started to watch this series of races. Really good. I forgot how good the GPL AI were. I raced almost only online back in the day and never really tried the AI. Looking forward to the next one now.
I'm really excited to see a new season. Riding along with the race is white-knuckle fun, and your knowledge of racing and period Grand Prix puts your videos a cut above most other "Lets Play" style games. In fact, watching the 1965 season last year inspired me to start putting out videos of my own, so thanks for that, good luck, and keep them coming.
Yesss !!! Glad to see you back in the cockpit . Too bad about that back marker running into you with a hand full of laps left.I 'm looking forward to Richard's progress through the 55 season. Welcome back .
I've been waiting a long long time to see you run again ... ... And you got me here for a whole hour man!.. Absolutely amazing race, awesome finish!...
I watched the entire video, that was some great racing with a few 'Holy Shit!' moments that had me holding on for dear life with you! I will definitely be enjoying much more from you
This layout isn't too bad. The 1990s version was a lot more tight and fiddly. It might be interesting to see how these cars would go on Circuit #14; the layout shown here is Circuit #2. Alberto Ascari crashed while testing a sports car at Monza. He crashed in the Vialone, high-speed left-hander. In 1925, Antonio Ascari crashed in a high-speed left-hander at Montlhery in the French GP. Speaking of streamliners and knowing the bounds of the car, at the 1937 Avusrennen, Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union painted the insides of the fenders of their streamliners black so that the drivers could more easily tell the extent of the cars. Privateers were allowed in those days. At that time, Maserati was the chief provider of customer cars, I think, with the 250F, of course. How much do you know about the provisions for pit stops in GPL? It seems like, even if it would have cost 30 seconds, you might have come out even just pitting for a new wheel and tire. Not to mention, you have a much lower chance of binning it if you get the tire sorted rather than trying to ride it out for a few laps. Have you seen the video of Gilles Villeneuve driving his Ferrari back to the pits on 3 wheels? In 1956, Maurice Trintignant drove the Bugatti Type 251 in its only race at the French GP at Reims. And on another historical note, Trintignant had one of the the kinks on the back side of Bremgarten named for him. In the 1948 Bern Grand Prix (Voiturette support race for the Swiss GP), he crashed in his Gordini and was thrown out into the middle of the road. Prince Bira managed to miss him and keep going, but both Farina and Manzon crashed taking evasive action. Trintignant suffered a fractured skull and was in a coma for a week. That same meeting also saw the fatal crashes of pre-War ace Achille Varzi and junior driver for both Mercedes-Benz (1937) and Auto Union (1938), Christian Kautz.
You should really do a replay of this mod and series, absolutely captivating to watch and with my 3rd time watching it i can only hope you'll make more one day
Love to see the 50s era F1! I think its actually an underrated era of motorsports tbh. And to see Moss racing is also awesome, I have a poster of the car he won the Targa Florio in, and I got it signed by him when I bumped into him at the historic festival at Lime Rock Park in 2015!!! Oh and side note, that car you hit was number 32 so it wasn't Trintignant. It was Mieres.
So glad to see you back with these awesome races! Mb a bit of a music on the intro next time? It would be a nice touch. And don't mind about driving quality. Getting back into the racing groove takes time. Cheers!
Christmas in january! :) Looks like Axelson's always must have problem with his teammates in Ferrari :D And few questions. Do you really don't want use historic carsets? I always loved that you raced as in reality with drivers which drove that race and other not like in Siracusy, small field but interesting names on the grid. I mean your 1965 season would be look different if John Surtees would be raced in all races. Second question is if you don't want do a few non-champ races. For example it would be awesome see you racing in Pau or Oulton Park. Hope to see your race from Monaco soon or later and sorry for mistakes in grammar xD
Fangio suffered severe burns to his leg which, for the entire duration of the race, was rubbing against the chassis frame which was being heated by the exhaust. It took him 3 months to recover; his next race in Monaco was not until late May. It left a permanent scar on his leg later in life.
Your back my friend! GPL 1955 Mod is here that there only 10 races, including The Spanish Grand Prix, the new circuit was called "Pedralbles". I hope the Round 2 will be the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix.
AWESOME video :-). I will have to view it in a couple of hits due to time but going to look forward to the 1950 season. Just what i need to fire up my sim racing spirit and get my GP up and running again. Yeaaah.
Seeing how you regularly brake in the red, it is essential to use engine brake. I'd say in Buenos Aires it is pretty necessary, but you will *not* like Monaco. Believe me.
Haha I can immagine this very well! I also didn't forget our race we did in Suzuka some time ago, you generally seem to have a good practice plan! ;). Anyway, I'm actually starting to do some practicing with the 1955 GPL mod, and I think you have to do some huge lift and coast training with those brakes if you wanna keep up well with them! XD
I would like to see you do a race series involving the Thundercars mod one day down the road. I saw the Thundercars mod in action on ErikGPL's channel not too long ago, albeit every race run were only exhibition events.
Wow man. I am trying to beat Fangio at a 15 laps race like this and it is AMAZINGLY DIFFICULT. That guy looks like if he is driving a 68 car. Has ton of grip compared to me. Really really hard.
Tra-tin-yawn* with a very very soft "n" at the end. Almost non-existent. "Yan", might be misread as rhyming with "can". Listen: translate.google.com/#fr/en/Trintignant
ruclips.net/video/XSqH-uf1-xQ/видео.html at around 4.25 on this you can see the blue ferrari at rear of the grid. the blue used is not too for off the actual colour. glad to see a championship back to watch
I'm pretty sure this is a Gordini, driven by Elie Bayol. Actually Gonzales raced exactly the shown blue Ferrari 625 in the 1955 Argentinian GP - He even was on Pole Position. He did that because his entrance was sponsored by the government of Argentina an he startet that race as a guest in the Ferrari-Team. Gonzales wasn't a full member of the Team in 1955, he quitted after the 1954-season. Argentinia actually was his only race in the 1955-season

Every GPLaps vid I’ve watched has been a banger so I’m going back and watching every vid on the channel starting here. Can’t wait.
I did a lot of work on that track when it was being built, stuff to improve the FPS and other problems with the different variations of it, 3 tracks if I remember maybe..
Your welcome, glad to see it being used.
So happy to see you're back. I really enjoy your driving and your commentary, and i'm looking forward to your future vids!

Well done sir. Just coming across your channel. Great race, great commentary, great mod. Exciting finish just hanging on. I really enjoyed the race.

Great to see you back, looking forward to the continuing season
Welcome back! Great to see another season underway...and if I were you I'd be having some sharp words with Maurice Trintignant after the race! 😉
awesome vid man. saw some 4 wheel drifting there. series is gonna be great.

Awesome, a new series. That's made my day. That hour flew by. There's always some drama with the Axelsons isn't there?
Nice to see you back at it!!!!

You pick up Automobilista? I think you'd like it. Plus, there is a great 1937 GP mod.
Yeah. Honestly, even after 100s of hours of rF2 AC R3E PC2, NR2003 GPL and AMS are favorites.
WAIT?!?!?!?!?!
GPLAPS UPLOADED A FULL RACE AND HE IS BACK,YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
F1 Greece :) :) :)

YAAAAAAAAAY! Are you going to do the 1967 season?
Oh Hey Jack please doooo

Never! ;)
Loving the series!
OHHHH YEAH!! GP IS BACK BABY
Seeing how you regularly brake in the red, it is essential to use engine brake. I'd say in Buenos Aires it is pretty necessary, but you will *not* like Monaco. Believe me.
Haha this is well said, Man! ;) Seems you have already had some experience, over there!
I have driven the 55 Mod in 2017 more than enough to tell you that ;)
Haha I can immagine this very well! I also didn't forget our race we did in Suzuka some time ago, you generally seem to have a good practice plan! ;). Great video, man!
Tough luck on the problems near the end. Good job struggling thru and salvaging some points, tho!
This is amazing
This is cool.
It would have been interesting if, after crossing the line, you checked car setup to see if a tire was gone.
THANK YOU SO MUCH IM SO HAPPY KEEP IT UP
It seemed like I was predicting it... I just started re-watching the GPL 1965 season like... a week ago.
See this is why you don’t unsubscribe!!
I think the 1955 Argentine Grand Prix was recorded as the hottest Grand Prix in history
Interestingly, the points Pat Flaherty scored from winning the 1956 Indianapolis 500 were enough to give him 5th in the championship.
Your tire isn't flat, it w as knocked out of alignment.
I'm a Nascar man, I hear Sterling, and my brain goes Martin.😂
And both their last names start with "M".💀
Mercedes came back in 2010. 2009 Brawn GP won the title with Jenson Button. Then Mercedes took over the team.
Mercedes, in a way, returned to F1 in 1994, supplying engines for Sauber's first F1 car.
bobaloochi
Sure, you are right! But he was talking about the works-team.
OH SHEEEEEET!
It's a videogame so why not have all the races (even the cancelled ones)? You know, a "perfect past".
racing in swiss is not forbidden at all, only circuit-racing is forbidden, but hillclimb is allowed for example.
I thought it was a ban on circuit racing on public roads.
The full course seems way cooler.
Needed pit stops for driver relief :-)
Has it really happened? Has he really returned? :O
Gran Premio de Argentina 1998
1967?
Guess who's back. And with an hour-long video.
Back when my country wasn't so decadent.
ALIIIIVE :D
Ah, alte Gesichter :D

Miss ya, Frenchname.
i have this game where do you get the mods from?
Ha ha. I've been more nervous for you watching this race than I get for Verstappen in real F1 lol.
not bad driving m8
Not sure - In England we sometimes say "The Argentine" just like "The Ukraine" and of course "The Ohio State University."
Guys,someone can help me?
