      +999a0s lol, gen is definitely not a "terrible character", at the time he was a less explored char so nobody (except xian) knew his strength but now is clear he is at least a mid tier char, maybe even better than that.

      Xian played against himself .he played diago as if he was playing a grappler ,he did alot of blockstrings that was not good for a right space to apply pressure, his block strings left him at a range where diago could at times punish him if xian choose to jump after rappid hand on block, in this case diago could pressure him with hadoken an force bad jumpin from xian or xian would have to work hard to get at mid range where he could be more effective ,also diago judgment of movement is on point an has a wide range set ups on hkd

    The more I see Daigo play, the more I come to the belief that Daigo is 98% in control of his fate in these matches. I mean with what Seth said about Daigo at EVO when he said Daigo says he's above winning, I believe it. I feel if Daigo wants to win, he WOULD.

    It's so cool to see how Daigo still can adapt and adjust his play style, that's really what makes him a legend in the FGC. Look at the difference between how he handled Xian's Gen in CC last year versus how he does now; the fact that he's been playing SF for so long and is still evolving is amazing.

    It's different when you're going through a bracket of people opposed to focusing on one person. Daigo also had how many weeks to prepare and develop a gameplan? He also said he wanted to make Xian burn meter to take away his FADC option. Without that Gen is just a basic footsie character. I'm pretty sure Daigo has better footsies too.
    Don't be surprised if he bodies Infiltration too.

  • @FastAkira
    @FastAkira 11 лет назад +8

    Daigo said in the interview that he practice a lot before this match. He now knows all the ambiguous setups and jumps in etc that Gen is capable of. He said that the only point to worry about is Gen´s super and ultra, thats why daigo forced Xian to waste his meter to aproach him. He was more confident and learned a new stile to face him. So its not that Daigo has two stiles, Daigo will learn an adapt himself to the challenge.

    What "aces" or tech (besides that jump hk setup) did Daigo reveal during this set? Daigo's weakness in the Gen match-up was trying to block those ambiguous setups that Xian does. Daigo even admitted this and started watching patterns in Xian's gameplay and how to prevent/block this. Daigo just practiced against Xian's playstyle as well as Xian did to Daigo. Xian even said he'll 10-0 Daigo with his gameplan he prepared for the event.
    What more excuses can you say besides "a non-monetary match"?.

  • @TrueSephiros

    I know you're writing on Seths statement however if Daigo "clearly" did not want to win anymore, he wouldn't be practicing 24/7. Someone who clearly doesn't care to win anymore is someone like Alex Valle, whom doesn't practice 24/7, someone who clearly doesn't want to win anymore is someone like John Choi who doesn't play 24/7 like he used too.
    Daigo still Studies and Practices vs Opponents, Look what he did in preparation for Xian, is that someone who doesn't care about winning?

  • @skoda10
    @skoda10 11 лет назад

    i don't think it's because other players have caught up, he only plays ryu and ryu has never had any secrets or tricky special moves but he plays just for fun now he said. and that he would pick a better char if all he wanted was to win but it isn't. even if you have seen a video on yt where he played another char, he probably plays them all.
    it's just very hard to beat certain chars with their vortexes like akuma, when it comes down to guessing it doesn't matter how good you are.

  • @joinmebowser9000

    It's cause Xian won Evo 2013, that Daigo became so interested in his Gen, and learned all the stuff about Xian and his Gen. I think it would've been very different if it was between Daigo and Xian at the Grand Finals at Evo :3

    Most notable (not everthing) Marks of EVO Champions (currently):
    Daigo: EVO 2009 and 2010 (2 year dominance) and Japan's Street Fighter 25th Anniversary National Tournaments.
    Fuudo: EVO 2011 and Godsgarden 4 (won both highest ranked tournament in US and Japan before Topanga League took over, consecutively)
    Infiltration: EVO 2012 and SF25th Anniversary
    Xian: Canada CUP 2012 but got 6-0'd by Kazunoko (CC2011 champ) after the event. EVO2013 but got 10-0'd by Daigo. Still has
    a lot of potential

    Xian is a great example of champion's coma. Once he won Evo he got way too cocky and as a result daigo who puts in more than 100% of his gameplay blows Xian out of the water. Xian was smiling through the whole thing, daigo on the other hand was on beast mode, truly intimidating and inspiring. Daigo is the epitome of a true champion. Daigo doesnt need the fame or anything he is always on the road of a warrior learning and adapting. He adapted to Gen he will never lose to a gen player ever again.

  • @macnolds4145

    A few things:
    1- It's Daigo. Every once in a while, he will obliterate "the best" in an exhibition match.
    2- Once you're figured out, you're figured out. There was really nothing Xian could do except switch characters or adapt. However, on-the-fly adapting doesn't work against the greatest Street Fighter player of all-time.
    3 - I lost no respect for Xian here.

    again, he mostly cares about inspiring more people to get an interest in fighting games, everyone wants to try to beat him. he practices because it is his job

    PR Rog made it into top 8 at EVO in 2009, 2012, and 2013 and he isn't a top player? Since when? Only a few players have seen top 8 in SF4 multiple times. If you think LPN is a "random Cammy" btw then you are sadly mistaken.

  • @iownedyou15
    @iownedyou15 11 лет назад

    PR Balrog is a high level player no doubt about that. Not a top player. He got a nice streak during EVO2013. But even then, he even struggles to win local tournaments in the US. He lost to a random cammy just recently in Lanhammer 2013. Did he won anything at all this year in his local tournies?

    FT10, ends in 20 mins. In the past, Daigo has always played defensive waiting for reads against Xian's Gen, but this time he went in like he's playing Akuma. You do know that Xian beat Daigo in South East Asia majors and Kuwait, right? In the recent Topanga Asia league, Xian and Daigo had a very close set of 12-10, Daigo's favour. The games were supposed to be first to 7 but the winner had to win by 2 matches: that's how close their set was.

      Bruh this is an 8 year old comment. Because of how old the comment is, it doesn't preserve that the comment was a reply to another comment. And that comment was dissing Xian saying he is an overhyped one-trick IIRC.

    Once again...Choosing to not play a Top-Tier does not equate to him not Wanting to Win. It would only be believable if Daigo quit hardcore playing all together, which he hasn't done yet.
    Daigo studied to learn how to beat Sako in their match ups, Daigo studied to counter Xians Gen. Daigo even switched his buttons out to silent ones to confront Infiltration at 25Th Anniversary. Are those tactics of one who doesn't want to win? Answer me Please!

    Yeah, everybody talks about Daigo's footsies, but his defense may be the best in the business. But Xian never used the focus through fireball, as Infiltration did. I don't know, I am shocked, XIan looked so incredible at EVO.

    He uses Yun too, Ryu is just his "Go-To" Character. I'm sure there's some EVO footage of his Yun Gameplay on RUclips.

    I only started watching sf in 2020 but I've of course seen lots of daigo. Not enough Xian though. This made me like him even more.
