Never stop these playmation videos…the writing, locations, direction and voice acting is amazing! Whoever did the Bruce Lee voice on quick kick is spot on-Yo Joeburg!
This is GIJoe’s “Mandalorian” !!! It’s just like watching the 80s sunbow cartoon and it’s just like reading the ARAH comic book. I got my GIJoe fix with JoBurg ! Yojoe !!!
Holy crap - you are mastering your craft! The story is gripping, the framing and tone is phenomenal, and the score is perfect! Every episode Joburg puts out is exponentially better than the last. This kind of amateur story telling outdoes the vast majority of professional work being churned out with million dollar budgets. It’s got grit, wit and unstoppable charm. Keep up the amazing work!
I can see why the cartoon went that way: to make everyone on the team memorable you HAD to have at least one lovable lunkhead on the goody team. But yeah, the filecard makes him out to be a very smart guy. Highly trained in stuff that goes BOOM!
The way you bring the crimson guard out of the darkness to join the viper at 13:30 was really very good. I like the way you take your time with your stories to lead us through the experience. So many movies just want to cut story corners for another product.
A lot of the style is dictated by limitations; can’t really do the epic scale of the toon battles so I like to bring character and intrigue to the forefront. Thanks for the great comment!
LIKE IT, LOVE IT, ADORE IT. Thank you GI Joburg for being the moste awesome and creative guys. Got goose bumps when Snake Eyes went to take out that guard in the watch tower and that cool cartoon music started playing.. Brings back so many amazing memories playing with these figures. #gijoeforever
I love it. Very clever how you've incorporated real background with Joe figures like in the airport scene with the background out of focus. It works really well. It works so well even that it has a slight comedic effect, with Joe action figures not really looking all that realistic.
David de Vries Forced perspective at it’s best. Usually it is used to make people look large. I never thought of using it to make something small look normal.
My eyes hurt while watching this, CAUSE I DIDNT BLINK FOR 15:04 MINUTES. It was 1985 again.... Unbelievably original.. Can't wait for the next episode.
Intriguing plot. I like that Bazooka is done a serious way, a way better portrayal of the character. I love all the back grounds, and the 70's Kung-fu music was a superb touch! You out do yourself with each new episode you put out, thank you! Yo JOE-BURG!!!
Thanks Gazza! Yes, I’m a big pusher of treating the filecards as primary evidence, the comic as secondary, and the toons as more of a flavour influence. And Bazooka is certainly not made out to be a buffoon on the cardback. I’d say a natural survivor with the practical skills to match and training in weapons up to and including tactical nukes made him the natural choice for the mission. Too bad Cobra crashes the party...
I am with you. I wasn't a fan of Bazooka because of the cartoon. I thought his role in Resolute was more fitting. Now after seeing this portrayal of him, I like him a lot more. Joburg did him some justice.
Great job. Keep up the great work. Masterful story telling, amazing camera work, use of background and characters. The music was amazing as well. Loved every second of it
Wow. Awesome. You guys should be writing and producing a cartoon reboot or the next live action movie. Hasbro has missed the mark so many times since the Sunbow days...this is the kind of reboot/resurrection that GIJoe needs and deserves. Can't wait for the next episode of this story.

Oh man, oh man, just like Saturday morning cartoons all over again! So cannot wait for the next episode. These get better and better everytime Joburg produces one.
Best one yet! A fantastic use of lights and props. I really liked the way you used the live locations and the real world b-roll (especially the airport scenes). A few more like this and I will be completely green with envy.
Awesome job guys reminds me of when i took my figures and made little adventures from my Mom's House to my Dads and that fact that the sound effects is made by you guys just adds the feeling to it even more
I don't want to say this is the best one yet, but seriously, this is the best one yet. I have enjoyed all the episodes tremendously and this one had me smiling uncontrollably. Your cinematography with the Joe's was beyond cinematic and beautiful to watch which I believe to be pretty difficult. Your use of voice actors, background music and pictures of toys in a variety of backgrounds to drive the storyline really does feed the viewer in every way possible. As I was watching, I could feel the amount of work that went into storyboarding this episode and it honestly showed great vision and skill. Looking forward to the next episode. Go Joe-burg!
Thanks so much Karmic Detective. Such a glowing review; it means so much to us when Joe fans all over the world take the time and care to write to us. Joburg salutes you!
Excellent indeed....and thank you for not making Bazooka like in the cartoon. Can't wait to see more as always. On my vintage front, By the end of the year I managed to complete the rebuild of my childhood Moray Eel, Tomahawk, Night Raven and Mauler :) Also picked up a few sweet figures like a really nice Beachhead and Snow Job
Thanks so much for the comment TBH. It really means a lot to us. And those are indeed some sweeeeet vehicles. Tomahawk, Mauler and Moray are waaay up there. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the oldskoolers, and amazing that they’re your childhood vehicles too!
Cool video. It great you include quick kick, my favorite G.I. Joe character. Though, I be honest. I kinda prefer the more dumb lovable bazooka but that just my opinion. Still, a very good video.
Yes! Hopefully someone’s childhood Joes (confession, I received the Joes as an adult, but am so grateful they have a few battle scars). As for the Twins tho, they are my childhood toys! Quite possibly living out their finest hour all the way in present day, 2019!
Dude this is amazing! Your lighting, angles and dialogue are on point. And by making the sound effects with your mouth it's like a flashback to how I would play Joe's as a kid.....phenomenal!

It would be wonderful to have a new episode every week for them to enjoy instead of the sparse offerings we do. But wonderful to know they’re getting inspired! Send them a hearty Yo Joe and COBRAAAAA! from us.
I love how you integrated Quickkick into GI Joe Lore for this timeline in a manner that makes more sense. With him undercover as a Hong Kong Actor. Even explains the gettup. So...will Cobra be up to any Shenanigans in North Korea or the rougher parts of Africa and the Mideast as well? Maybe Cobra is setting up their Main Terrordrome Facility in North Korea due to the nation's relationship with China and the USSR? Sure...North Korea did have a bit of a falling out with the Soviets as they started to fall back and conserve their power a bit, but it's not completely shot. Plus, China is serving as a Middle Man between the two as China has an on again/off again relation with the Soviets. I hope the Bazooka and Quickkick captures will also be used as a means of reintroducing the Terrordome since it has a prison cell. Oh God...I fear what Crystal Ball, Mindbender, and/or the Interrogator will do to him.
@@gijoburg Well, I do, but it just is slightly more serious/realistic to have Quickkick as an undercover agent that pond jumped and entered the Hong Kong Movie Business. Also, I'm not suggesting going to N. Korea per se...that'd be a bit too much, but couldn't you just film the "North Korean" scenes in S. China or the northern part of S. Korea quasi-near the border in hopefully relatively more safety since you're not a "yank?" Also, if Quickkick survives this mess, any chance of him doing a team-up with Jinx and Snake Eyes to form a martial arts triple team?
Hehe. Yep, I think you see which way the wind is blowing on this one. Be an interesting and more long serving pair of Snake Eyes disciples than post ARAH characters like Kamakura, Dawn, and Throwdown. If it had a figure in 82-94, that’s a character I care about. Come at me, newskool Joe fans!

But this particular tale draws its greatest inspiration from being in China with a random selection of figures!
Thank you! While I have no shame in admitting huge chunks of inspiration come from the cartoon and the comic mythology, these scripts are my own. And in my retelling, Bazooka is a highly competent explosives expert. But teaming him up with Quick Kick like in the toon is too delicious to not do!
Oh man what an awesome job you did with Quick Kicks voice, not an easy task to do Bruce Lee! You must of did some studies of Bruce Lee movies for that?
Aw thanks! There are some awesome interviews with the man right here on RUclips. He was a fascinating character; great views on philosophy and martial arts as a lifestyle and a spiritual pursuit. I really fell down the rabbit hole and I’m glad I did. What a legend. And one we lost far too soon.

Last question first: this was all shot on location in PRC, Hong Kong and Australia, so I had no backup! Tried to involve my wife once but that was a bust thanks to circumstances outside of our control. Had some graphic elements and some original music from Paul in Johannesburg, but the footage was all one man, a tripod, a phone, a flashlight and several donated figures!
