Considering how enthralling dreams are, and how, upon waking I long only to return to that fascinating phantasmagoria churned up by the night mind, it should not be surprising that the objects, people, and events of this dream world have become so compelling as to forbid my ever awakening from this fantastic spectacle of the greater mind, nor to plug my ears with wax to prevent my delighting in its sirens’ song.
Yes, we are very interested by this fascinating drama called "Our Life". Not so different from binge-watching a grat Netflix series. This questioner's mind is the really sad victim of the anti-mystical culture we've been burdened with since the 18th century or so. He sees something mystical, mysterious, transcendent "in Rupert" (really in himself) but his conditioning pulls him back to make sassy 'oh c'mon let's be practical' attitude and everyone has a good lighthearted chuckle. The 'if the world isn't real why don't you get hit by a bus' trope epitomizes this so well. For asking such a serious question, you would do well to treat yourself with the respect you gave to your own inquiry. We're not being 'practical' when we act frivolously like this; in fact, the greatest physicists and mathematicians, who our Industrial Revolution society epitomizes as the most real/practical field, ALL had a humble, almost mystical sense of awe with what they were studying.
IT IS ALL REAL. To consciousness EVERYTHING is real. That is the whole point of existence. Learn all that is learnable....to know thyself. Everything is brought into existence by way of being experienced. It takes two. Me and not me(you). To me, everything that is not me is you. I experience you into existence, so that you can experience me and bring me into existence. Something can only exist(be known) relative to something else existing. How does one become aware of the color of ones eyes? You make two. Your reflection accomplishes this, it creates two out of one, so now you can learn the color of your eyes. Until your reflection is created, the color of your eyes does not exist(unknown)
There is no you, nor me, doing anything. You do not create anything nor bring anything into existence, because who are you to do anything? There is only the consciousness that everything appears within. You are a thought that believes it is real, surrounded by thoughts it also believes are real.
@@deselmsgroup true, There is just one, but the reflection of the one, creates the illusion of two. You need the two in order for the one to observe(experience) itself. The source, the reflection of source and the observation creates awareness.
@@mikey6214 It's not a reflection of "the one" - none exist. As Rupert points out, everything being experienced as "reality" is simply a projection in the mind of God, as it were. Dream characters who believe they are real, surrounded by a dream they also believe is real. There is no doer, and nothing is happening.
As this is the foundation of your belief system, aside from blind faith, or mere acceptance of the trite statements of others, how do you know there is such a thing as "universal consciousness"? Likewise if you tell people "nothing is real" how does that benefit them when they have no personal realisation of this? Further I suggest that if you tell someone that nothing is real, and then out of faith they try to test this theory by jumping in front of a speeding train, it will not benefit them but quite to the opposite be very harmful.
ACIM "Nothing unreal exists. Nothing real can be threatened." Herein lies the peace of God. Teachers like Rupert say this statement from ACIM in different yet similar ways. Yesterday I was listening to Echart Tolle...his talk was the same, in ET ways. Same message with different words. 😊❤😊
If Francis had not found Rupert, the part of himself that craves freedom would have found the catalyst in someone or something else. Or the appearance of someone or something else. 🙂
I would not exactly expresse it this way. Reality exists and it is real, but this real reality is consciousness. The man who asked the question is correct. Duality is the illusion, reality is not an illusion, reality is consciousness. 🙏❤
Be cheerful, sir. Our revels now are ended. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. - Shakespeare, The Tempest.
It is called planting a seed. It will sprout when the time is right. There was no desire of "winning", what an absurd thought. There was only love and compassion for the man to free him from his suffering.
@@MarkusMutscheller rather than mark my comment as ‘absurd’ which I think is a rather strong judgement (!) for an innocent observation, maybe just understand that using the word ‘win’ was just a casual comment via text. No need to slam the person down and become the non dual police. There’s nothing more annoying than the non dual police picking up every word you use. WORDS ARE NECESSARILY DUALISTIC BECAUSE BY VIRTUE OF THE FACT IT IS LANGUAGE, it is DUALISTIC. language has a subject and object. There comes a point when we have to mature to this point where our ego does not feel the need to pick everyone up on every dualistic expression. Instead we have to give benefit of the doubt that the person knows Oneness and is just using words because it’s al we have to communicate. Please do also consider the inadequacy of communication via text. There is no tone. No facial expression no emotion.

I have just listened to this, having heard similar teachings over the years. My current thought is what sick , depraved & evil mind could conjure up the dreams of this world? The horrors, the suffering, the despair?
Every single experience is incredibly valuable, even the suffering. This world is a world of duality. We want to cut off the dark, the horror, but we wouldn’t know light without dark.
Hello Rupert, I’ve been following you for about five years now and I find you extremely good at explaining things so if I am just a dream in gods mind, where does my free will come into? It is everything I do just predetermined or do I actually have free will to choose one thing or the other?
Is no "God", and free will is just a belief. What have you actually chosen? You didn't choose to be "born", you didn't choose your bodies name, you don't choose how your body looks, ie, eye color, natural hair color, height, gender so on. You don't choose your family, you don't choose your friends as they are simply a result of proximity. You didn't choose where you grew up, or what kids were in kindergarten with you when you showed up. You didn't choose what foods your taste buds like, or what music or sounds are pleasing to your ears. You don't choose what political side you fall on or religion you find yourself in, you were conditioned into those. You don't even choose what to have for breakfast, it's just a pattern, a loop that stems from the journey up to that point. You don't choose anything, as there is no you.
@@pennywise5095 Can a painting change itself if it doesn't like the image that was painted? No. It's a painting. It's just what is. Desire is nothing but ego. Wanting to fix something to like or dislike, this belief that "No, not good enough, we can do better." No, you can't. Reality is an infinite amount of dreams. They are random, they are all possibilities that can be experienced. The point of an experience, is to experience the experience. Liking or disliking something means jack shit. What creates that diversity? What creates a library full of 10,000 books of all different types? Imagination going in many directions. Fate is the author of all authors. As for why casual, because a dream never needs to be taken seriously. It's a dream. Nothing ever needs to be taken seriously as nothing is ever real.
Great topic. I discovered that there is no self to be discovered. I can’t communicate what I cant experience. My experiences are not my own. They are the so called “ puppet masters” experiences. Im in a perpetual state of not knowing. I consist of a bundle of those experiences, knowledge I have about them. My life is like one big dream. I look at you but no nothing about you. There is no reality to it. When this experiencing structure is not manipulating consciousness my life is on big dream from the experience point of view. I give reality to things “ not only objects but feelings and experiences and think they are real. When I don’t translate these things in terms of accumulated knowledge, they are not things. I really don’t know what they are. To me. The reality I give to things is a state of not knowing. It is a dream.
~ A Dream? Oh my, how meaningless. How meaningless. Is meaning....meaningful to you? No? What's meaning? Why are you listening to meaninglessness? Into the depths we go. Pure meaning. Pure union. The Father of spirit is all. Too much? Simply the beginning. The veil of eternity has opened. Most dare not enter. Most are prohibited. Most care not. You are not most. Sorry....I'm open...is His placard it seems. I walked with God and was no more. For He took me.
If we remove conditioning, experiences, memories, is there anything that gives us individuality? Is there an individual "consciousness"? Some traditions claim that there is a "higher self", I look inside and I don't see that, but as I still don't have clarity, I want some guidance to see the truth in this matter.
Careful with each word that it has become effortless for Rupert now. Everything exists as we become receivers of the same. No receiver, no signal. The signal exists as receivers appear.
There are 'two' things I wil continue to meditate on. Why group sufferings (natural disasters) & the disregard for the body in terms of consuming other aware beings. I did hear something funny pertaining to the latter.....Buddha at the burger joint was asked, "What will you be having?" His reply: "Make it one with everything. 😊
perhaps, the phrase "life is a dream", refers to the notion of it not existing as a absolute, but, in the realm of possibilities. it might develop this way or that, as the history of our terrestrial world has allowed. perhaps to "AWAKEN" isn't to become removed from the dream, but to go beyond living life as an assumption, with all of the imposed notions of "correctness", or as some schools of thought call it, "ASLEEP", or "MECHANICALNESS". at that point, you can begin to realize what being apart of the "dream of the terrestrial world" means to understanding what you are as a human being. all of our experiences, values, are then relative to the context of nature we live in. there is a nice simple poetry book call, THE TAO TE CHING, by LAO TZU, translated by Jane English and an eastern philosopher, which can be found on AMAZON. if you life near a big city library, they may have a copy there. hope this helped.
Dreams seem real as all dreams do. But, it's still a dream. We're is the dream coming from? And what is the theme? If the dream is fear then we must change what is in the projector, from fear to love. Which entails changing teachers (the voice u listen to) there are only 2 to choose from...the ego; the voice of self righteousness, hate, judgement, jealousy and fear. Or the Holy Spirit; the voice of unconditional and universal Love, non judgement, kindness, and fearless. One will give you all the sorrows of a "world". The other the peace of God itself. The Holy Spirit will show you that you are the dreamer of the dream, how can there be anyone guilty in a dream? If you are dreaming you gave everyone their part to play in your little movie. That is for- giveness is the key to awakening from the dream entirely. I for-give my misperceptions, dis-ease, anger, hatred, pain to the Holy Spirit and in return I am given the correction: God's son is innocent and still as perfect as God created him to be and YOU are God's son. The more you practice forgiveness the more enlighten you become which is the awareness that you are dreaming but perfectly safe and able to awaken. You become what you really are...Spirit. there is no world of bodies except in the sons sleeping mind. All healing takes place when you invite the correct teacher. There are only 2 and you can't follow 2 masters.
What’s the point of consciousness wanting or having the experience of someone being hit by a bus. One of Gods thoughts! You would think god would have better thoughts, strange.
Only after waking up from a vivid dream do we realize its unreal nature. Similarly, only after awakening from this dream-like life will we have the same realization. We are so deeply immersed in the material existence that it is nearly impossible to accept its unreal nature. There must be a reason for experiencing a vivid dream, and similarly, there should be a reason for living this dream-like life. We experience life through our five senses. Just imagine for a moment if all these five senses were suddenly shut down. We wouldn't even realize if we were alive or dead. This, too, provides a clue to question the reality of material life.
Used the dream example to try to explain it to people to, but they just call you crazy lol. You can't wake people up, you gotta want to wake up. You can't teach this, you can share your experience but ego will never accept it. It's similar to a lucid dream. Sitting in a room with people, is just a bunch of phantoms. If you can't understand something, it simply doesn't understand it. No big deal. Many dream characters try to blast the apparent me with "I do exist!!!" No....i'm just a phantom in your dream to interact with. Imagine going into a dream and walking up to a character into that dream, and saying you don't exist. They would resist it and deny it. Why would any character in the dream want to leave the dream? Doesn't seem to make sense does it?
I really enjoy listening to Rupert....but wow my heads spinning great questions Francis... It would help to have a visual representation of this conversation...but that's not real i guess😂

Well, the thing is, "normal life" is also "god's" ( we need a new word, that one's ruined!) thoughts/ dream. So what that we don't exist? We also do, for a while. Creation is an incredible spectacle! Galaxies, sex, love, tiny insects, war, great food, sight, touch, imagination. There's so much to marvel at. But yes, one must be courageous; until you face down the ego a bit, you can go crazy!
And that, is the purpose, I believe.

That is deep! Thank you for posting
There is no you, nor me, doing anything. You do not create anything nor bring anything into existence, because who are you to do anything? There is only the consciousness that everything appears within. You are a thought that believes it is real, surrounded by thoughts it also believes are real.

Dude! This is so GOLD 🪙

If we remove conditioning, experiences, memories, is there anything that gives us individuality? Is there an individual "consciousness"? Some traditions claim that there is a "higher self", I look inside and I don't see that, but as I still don't have clarity, I want some guidance to see the truth in this matter.

perhaps, the phrase "life is a dream", refers to the notion of it not existing as a absolute, but, in the realm of possibilities. it might develop this way or that, as the history of our terrestrial world has allowed. perhaps to "AWAKEN" isn't to become removed from the dream, but to go beyond living life as an assumption, with all of the imposed notions of "correctness", or as some schools of thought call it, "ASLEEP", or "MECHANICALNESS". at that point, you can begin to realize what being apart of the "dream of the terrestrial world" means to understanding what you are as a human being. all of our experiences, values, are then relative to the context of nature we live in. there is a nice simple poetry book call, THE TAO TE CHING, by LAO TZU, translated by Jane English and an eastern philosopher, which can be found on AMAZON. if you life near a big city library, they may have a copy there. hope this helped.

If everything depends on consciousness, then Consciousness exists as pure Existence. Nothing cannot 'exist'.
What you choose to believe becomes your reality, be careful and prayerful about what you choose to believe. Consider reading one of the gospels from the Bible and contemplating it.

As I understand it, what I choose to believe determines my behavior and speech. If I am not responsible for what I choose to believe then I am not responsible for my behavior, including what I say. If I am not responsible, who is?
The Bible has many great teachings. However, one does not need to be a slave to them on the 'promise' of eternal punishment for not believing.
Once you've had a real awakening, you know this is the truth. None of this exists. It's just a movie, a dream. I know; I experienced this.
Feels like a fine line between knowing all this or thinking your slowly going insane
Many seekers are looking to make their lives better, to feel better , but the real point of seeking is to come home to what we really are, which is God. I hope that's comforting. My experience, which I spent years begging for, showed me the truth, and it helps, at least in facing death. The movie will end, and it's no big deal when it does, because - none of this is real, including our persons ! Just a dream , just a movie 🤠
