Oooo... just ordered one. Got a couple of the old barebones Nooelec ones, but have never got around to building an enclosure for them to go outside... seeing this has wider bandwidth and comes in a case it's a no-brainer.
Thank you for this great review... i received my patch antenna some days ago and i can confirm.... it's outstanding! Up to 35-40% more signal compared to the smaller version! Keep up the good work, your videos are an important part of our hobby!
After making the earlier patch from pcb material which worked a treat I ordered one of these from the US and my initial thoughts are that is is around 6dBm better than the home brew one which in turn is about 10dBm better than the sdr-kits patch, so my signal strength in tekmanoid has gone from about 65% with the sdr-kits patch to 80% with the homebrew patch and now to 90% with this new patch, definitely a performer and so much more useful as it it weatherproof. Beats having a plastic bag flapping in the wind to protect the LNA. It really pulls in the 10500 aero channels which were a struggle with the homebrew patch. Def the best recommendation I have seen and the strip down and exploration in the video give more confidence as to what you are buying, not just a "black box" product.
Are you planning to review the version 3 light grey version ? It's bigger and has better reception apparently. I'm waiting for mine from aliexpress. Bit more expensive now with damn VAT on top 🙃
Hi there, Thanks for all your video's. Can you tell me what direction to point gps antenna at please for Inmarsat? Just learning this. Also I am in Scotland so possible elevation maybe different. Cheers 73s Kev
Throw that RG174 in the bin, PCB: the usb and bias voltage are going though an LDO like a 117 5v to 3.3V probably . I would put an SDR in the box with sma-sma hardline and run USB to it.
Hello there, Hope you can help. I have been trying to get gr-iridum to work and nothing. I have tried 2x rtlv3 dongles with bias tee on and the same patch antenna as you are using. I can see inmarsat peaks at 54w but no Iridium signals from 1.621 ghz onwards. My location is Scotland. Patch antenna is pointing up the way. Cheers Kev
I am waiting for my unit for a couple of days. Does it happen to have a working version of sdrsharp community package that you can share? Since November I try to get it installed from their website but unfortunately on two separate computers running windows 10 and the. . net package installed... Won't run 😐
At 1:40 you say the cable is for connecting the patch to an SDR but then go on to say this is not advisable due to interference. How should you connect it then, as it needs bias T also?
There is a ON and OFF batch file within the bias T driver folder, when you run it a window should pop up, check for errors in that pop up window. If it closes too quickly simply run the ON batch file from command prompt. Make sure you run the ON batch file with SDR Sharp closed first. Let me know how you get on.
Keep doing videos!! Your channel is one of my favorites!
Thank you 🙏

This looks a lot nicer than the modified GPS antenna I've been using! Super cool!
Very interesting. Well done. Thank you. I'm tempted to get into this, there's so much interesting information you have access to.
There is loads of interesting information coming from these sats.. go for it and let me know how you get on! Thanks for watching 👌
I love this sort of thing, I think I'll get one. Space communications and RTL-SDR, a nerd's dream!
Thankyou...been waiting for the version 2 to be released.,.I will order today...best wishes from Thailand
You’re welcome 😊

Well done!! Thank you!!!
Rg174? Check the losses at that freq range. You would be losing like 50%+ from memory
Now back in stock!! - i've just hit the buy button!
Love your channel ! A big thank you for all your videos !
Wow cool stuff
Thanks for the review. Is it worth upgrading from the old version? Which Inmarsat satellite are you using?

Hello Please tell me if it is possible to apply through USB???
oh man, you got all 4 screws, I only got 3 like
Fuzz The Pi Guy
Would this receive GOES?
What is the bias t application? Can you get weather sat pics.

How about the L1 & L2 band?
Can I use SDR Console instead of SDR Sharp.

I meant don’t connect the SDR directly to the patch antenna, you must use a cable to keep the SDR away from the patch.
5:55 u just accidentally leaked your home location 😉
will it work with noo electric smart
I got one of these a few days ago but can't seem to get the bias T working from my RTL SDR
Do you have the RTL SDR Blog V3 ? If not, which rtl sdr do you have?
@@TechMindsOfficial I've got the v3
Running the bias t driver before hand doesn't seem to actually turn it on. Gonna try a reinstall tonight
