I was in the area to photograph a couple cars for a calendar, and Tim Strange said he was going to the Nats while We where talking at Custom Car Revival.
So glad I decided to go it was a incredible day, and even with the midwest heat I had a blast walking around the Fairgrounds like I did back in the Day.
Sorry I could only cover half of Saturday, but I had to go scout photoshoot locations.
Hopefully next year the schedule will allow me to spend more time because I heard the late night cruising was awesome.

It’s not even 1/4 the size it was back in the 80’s. They ruined a good thing and a cash cow! Illinois could mess up a wet dream 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No doubt I remember it from the early 90’s as a young dumb minitruck guy……… it was the greatest show on asphalt at one time
That show is like stepping back in time to the 90's. Lots of magazine cars that I remember seeing in Hot Rod and Car Craft back then. Troy has always been a big influence on me since his mint green 60 Chevy. He is a trend setter.

No doubt I think Troy has been a constant inspiration to everyone who’s into custom cars………Also a genuinely nice guy his dad bought me a cheeseburger at street machine nats back in the day 😂
Remember going to Indy, remember going to Springfield, worked across the street from DuQuoin Fairgrounds. Top notch car show.
Yea I went the first time in the early 90’s and definitely shaped me into who I am and what I like today…….. glad it’s showing a glimmer of coming back.

I filmed for my channel as well. I never left the pro st area at all Friday and got up front on Saturday and got hot so I went back and sat down and never made it out on the grassy hills out near gate 4. There were a lot of nice cars there for sure that I know I missed
I hate I could only come one day, and I had to leave in the afternoon, but still worth attending. I hope to be able to hang out a little more next year. Saturday was pretty damn hot
Great footage. I'd love to hit this event one of these years. My favorite was the Topolino early in the video.

So cool to see Mark Grimes' cars. I live in Omaha where Mark was living then (now?). I built my Pro Street Malibu about the same time & had a small issue on the side of the road. Mark drove by & offered to help. Nice guy!

I remember being at the World of Wheels show in Madison, WI and seeing Huemungas for the first time. Later I rode with my friend Brian Ferguson from WI to Troy's shop in IL. for the first looks of Sniper. What a night that was. Such a cool time!!

That soft blue 65 Chevelle 30:17 was quite a subtle stunner. Really well done.

I really like/liked the ProStreet movement.
I was in my early 20's, lot's of dreams but didn't have the wherewithal.
A few builders set the bar quite high. I feel a lot of that quality is still
a standard to be measured against.
A ton of the top builders of pro-touring cars started with pro-street or where heavily influenced by the movement.
It’s nice to see where they came from, and where they are going
Some nice rides and a couple of RAT rods in there. Lots of deep cams laboring out there.
Lot of tubbed vehicles.
First thing I learned about street racing...., don't race tubbed vehicles, with cartoonish rear rubber.
Not a ford guy.., but that silver Merc Zypher at 9:20 looked really nice..., don't see much of those anymore.
Yea this show was a ton of fun, and some serious horsepower rolling around.

I live in southern Illinois, what town did you grow up in?
I lived in the huge metropolis of Ware till I was 13 😂
It looked like flashback of my youth. Liked it. But them trailers turned me off.
Well when you have to haul them long distances for shows it’s saves wear and tear on really expensive paint jobs that you can’t just touch up easily.
I’m sure the owners would much rather have driven them as well, but they are as they where for the most part since the 90’s they’d probably get locked up by Buford T Justice before they got there……..the light blue chevelle was there from Texas.
Glad you partially enjoyed it even though the trailers turned you off.
Took my chebby two to the car craft nationals in 79 from Colorado to California. Heck of a ride. Built to drive talent to maintain. Its cool to see people keep it alive. But i work on that people spend 90k on and treat them like crap.. if you can afford a 80k truck and a 30k trailer. You'll think can afford to touch up some rock chips. Kelley heroes movie quote. There pretty but can they fight .
Well that’s the sad part now is you can’t build a car of this quality for 90k anymore……… and both of these cars are iconic old magazine feature cars. They have a ton of miles on them already, and they just got one of them running and back on the road in time for the event.(it’s 800 miles from Texas)
They also cruised them all weekend
You guys are wrong . Pro street is ok but NOTHING beats the wow affect of a great GASSER ! Altitude determines attitude ! No muscle car should be scraping the ground . ... just my opinion.
either 98% of the cars there were bow ties or the camera man only videoed bowties , anyway had to leave about 8 minutes into it couldn't take anymore
