To tame, you can easily ship algae over from the flipped asteroid, and you'll have a pacu tank up in no time. This lead to an interesting surprise, you can get a map that doesn't spawn any Pips, and will be stuck waiting on the printing pod to get them! Also, if you go with the Geodes trait, you can get packets of massive resources. I've seen natural gas, hydrogen, water, iron ore and gold amalgam, to just list a few. Not a bad trait to grab. From the star map, the planets actually tell you what geysers are on that location. I hope this helps! Especially the tip about the rust!
Oh good point about the steel, we are going to need that for making rockets, no atmo suits but we should be able to work around that. The pacu died, it got to cold and froze. But that steel should allow us to do a bottomless rodreguiz and feed that hot salt water geyser into it, giving us hydrogen for power.
The h2 generator at the bottom left, you let the switch to "on" it overwrite the signal of the batterie, that the main reason why you are lacking h2. Also for the gas bridge at the right there is still the pipe in the middle causing h2 looping doesn't cause any problem but.. :
When I got this achievement on normal difficulty, I was running like 4 hatch ranches, a drecko ranch, a pip ranch, and about 12-16 incubators, I think.
If you stablish a second colony on the Flipped Asteroid you can scratch the achievements faster. Dig it out for the free hatches and make the ranches there instead of sending stuff back. It's micromanagement hell though, but getting two colonies so early should be great content.
Probably a bit late, but you can lock pips in a 9 tile wide section by using a door, an airflow tile, and a drop of water on top. The 9 tile wide section is enough to put 2 arbor trees in with 2 tiles in between, enough for 8 pips and theres also space for a grooming station and a critter dropoff. I do this cuz it saves a lot of time from pips having to go around the entire room, and also allows a single autosweeper to cover the entire ranch It goes: Door-tile-tree-tile-tile-tree-tile-critterdropoff-groomingstation(2tiles)-door with airflowtile and water.
Francis, you could also use the pip ranch to produce lumber and turn that into ethanol, that can't be burned before your achievement is unlocked, but could be a different way to tackle power than you usually do.
You could automate the incubator setup with a cycle sensor or timer sensor on a power shut off.. that way you won't forget to turn it on a daily basis. It does require a couple additional research and some refined metal, but I think it's worth it.
Very true, but we are going to be mostly ranching hatches. Well we will do a few Pips as we wait for the hatch production to explode. Once we have enough hatches we will phase out the pips.
I use a timer automation to blip the duplicant generator automation input off then back on right away every 30s. This forces them to get off, revaluate task priorities, then get right back on if that's the only thing to do
I think you can cheese the locavore/no-planting challenge with some Pips. Just ranch them on natural tiles and give them seeds to plant. They can eat some of the crops and your duplicants can eat the excess. Plus you can eat the old ones. Recycling!
Arbor trees now drop seeds without the need to replant them. It's still a low chance that a Pip rummages an Arbor tree to produce a seed but I think this change was part of a Spaced Out update
Re: Reproduction rate: It would turn out to be exactly one egg every 6 cycles for an ideal, permanently - happy hatch. In reality it'll be marginally slower than that. The tooltip sadly rounds the values to whole percent (17%) instead of keeping at least two decimal places (16.67%).

you should try using lumber as a source for everything, with ethanol refining you can produce power, oxygen, and food (if you really like slickster ranching) at the cost of less polluted water per cycle than a regular electrolyzer setup's consumption of water, meaning you have, with sublimation stations used, more oxygen per kg of polluted water, some nice power to self-power the system and maybe produce a little extra for your base, and lots of CO2 for anything from early-game rocket fuel to slickster ranching Also, incubating a lot of slicksters and just stuffing them down south of your base without grooming them is a decent way to produce oil or petroleum, you would need an actively groomed ranch for the eggs to initially supply the system, though.

The electrolizer is built on top of the uranium biome. That biome is frozen, the O2 we are getting out is actually chilling down the base, I have to keep an eye on the plant in the great hall as we are about to dip below 20C and stifle the plant. The chill of the uranium biome won't last forever but it should last long enough for us to find a cooling solution.
@@FrancisJohnYT I started the same challenge you are doing, I have a rust biome. I thought it would heat up really fast.. nope. Good micro lessons as always Francis
For a tiny bit of extra productivity you can keep the doors to the great hall open constantly. No real reason to have them on auto. And you have quite a bit of traffic through there to the kitchen. Elderly does not affect reproduction it appears, maybe it did in an old patch. But if it did I can see why they removed it. Imagine having to keep an eye out for elderly critters so you can kill them to free up space!! That would be a lot of micro.
Why not use the Cycle Sensor and place 2 Incubators on it with a 15-20% Cycle time depending on how long it takes for your dup to get to the Incubator? This way you don't have to do it manually all the time.

the only thing you realy need poluted water for is farming (and maybe as cooling but thats not realy an issue in the near future) which he cant do until he has his achivment and any excess clean water can be turned into O2 and power in the electrolyzer stretching his germfree clean water supply to last longer for mushfry and the pollutet dirt from the siev is good for ranching crabs for steel later on and it will be probably automatet as soon as he has a mechatronics on hand so they only need to stock the storage bin
@@fettgummie9685 Polluted water can also be used for bulk o2 and clay production, as we've learned on the mini map, a method to which I had to resort a few times. Which of course is useless and too work intensive in a scenario like this. Also you make a good point concerning the general scarcity of clean water
@@wirthiwirth7166 on the baby base they are valid concerns and methods, on a normal playthrougth i never realy had problems for oxygen production (that woulkd make the pollutet water method relevant) because of the electrolyser setups and generaly enougth clay from the watersives i have around since i follow FJ with that i let pollutet dirt (espcelly from toilets) just puff away and and have a few deoderisers near that are automaticly filled from the sand bin of the water sive and i usually have carbon scimmers for any produced CO2 since i dont like just venting it to space and with all that i normaly have enougth clay to get around
Put a day timer on the incubator. Have it come on when the Dupe first wakes up. Have it set to 9 so the rancher does it first thing. Then have it go off like after 3 clicks. Then you don't have to babysit it.
I can't w8 to watch more :D meaby i will find some idea how save my mid game base from power / sometime food problem :)
So excited, just finished the first two episodes
Great show!
You could probably save some energy by letting those freshly-grilled mush bars cool down before putting them in the fridge.
There’s a nutriom bar right above your third ranch that might be a geyser/volcano
Yep, we need mining level three to crack it open obsidian requires L3 digging. Not in a rush to do that, need the miner on the second planet to hopefully secure some more meat sources. If we upgrade them to L3 that is 6 moral cost and the new planet has no way of supporting that.
So glad to see you playing oni again, its been a while
I’ve been HOPING that you’d pick this game up again! :-D
6:20 finally, i was screaming at my screen for many minutes already
I love the ONI series! Hopefully you can make some tutorials on this game. I always struggle with this game to get everything working without problems :D.

Playlist with 33 tutorial videos by him. His second oldest playlist on the channel so he have been doing ONI some time. Apart from two old rocket tutorials I think everything is compatible with the dlc.
player: i barely have oxygen and everyone is starving.
printing pod: heyyy here's an amazing dupe that will stop showing up forever once you figure your stuff out
Today died my graphics card. At least I can watch some good quality stuff here. Cheers!
Had a similar thing recently. Turned out it was the monitor.
Good luck.
Ouch, that's some rough news. GPUs are a bit crazy still. Hope you get lucky.
@@guyincognito1406 unfortunately vram. I made an rma request because it's still has warranty. I had my gtx970 over 6 years without any problems - I gifted it to my niece and it's still working like a charm.
My 3080 isn't 1 year old and now is broken... No OC, perfect cooling and air flow.
My plan was to have it minimum for 5 years but now I doubt it will run for so long.
good to see him being challenged. 😎
The standard base designs and steps can get a bit repetitive
as far as i know the continus box on incubattors do the thing where you turn off power automatically
You need food to store before you can start thinking about making sterile food storage.
carnivore is so hard to get, basically need a dupe with tier II ranching skill from day 0
I found your channel completely by chance, and I'm so glad I did! You're both really entertaining to watch and good at the games you play so I have already learned a bit from these three episodes. If you're curious, I found your channel because someone linked your "meat beacon" video in the comments of a RimWorld video. I'm totally sure that's the video that you want to expose people to your channel lol /s
I would like to point out that meat beacons were discovered entirely by accident, I'm not a monster. Pretty sure I'm on a watch list because of some of the Rimworld stuff.
@@FrancisJohnYT Honestly I have no idea how you would explain to someone that hasn't played or watched a lot of RimWorld that you aren't a sociopath lmao. Half of the stuff you could do in RimWorld could probably put you on a watch list
@@Complexity03 I tried explaining things to the girlfriend one time.... learned not to do that any more. Only tell her about the non Rimworld stuff.
So much fun to see you struggle :)
28:36 "Randy..." uh oh.
cheers Francis
you had one job brandon...one JOB
I'm always worried about pumping all that hot air from an early built electroliser setup.
I know pressure nullified it quite quickly, but is it a concern? ... I guess without crops, not so much
Without crops, heat is much less of a problem. As long as you're not giving anybody heat stroke you're all good
The electrolizer is built on top of the uranium biome.
Hey, everyone! Francis was overtime! Bet you didn't see that coming.
For a tiny bit of extra productivity you can keep the doors to the great hall open constantly. No real reason to have them on auto. And you have quite a bit of traffic through there to the kitchen.
Also, didn't the "Elderly" state reduce a critters reproduction rate to zero? I'm a bit confused that your senior hatch is still producing eggs.
Elderly does not affect reproduction it appears, maybe it did in an old patch. But if it did I can see why they removed it. Imagine having to keep an eye out for elderly critters so you can kill them to free up space!! That would be a lot of micro.
I could watch this for hours ☺
One of your toilets is flipped. I can't believe you didn't notice it.
He should have had 3 toilets and have one of them be flipped, to be more evil! >:)
I did that on purpose, I like the look of it.
I comment to help statistics
immediately annoyed me that the toilets arent facing the same way
Happy to see your video.
Why not use the Cycle Sensor and place 2 Incubators on it with a 15-20% Cycle time depending on how long it takes for your dup to get to the Incubator? This way you don't have to do it manually all the time.
It's on the list of things to do, have started research on the cycle sensor and the logic gates.
What I learned this episode.. bathrooms can be rotated.. lol
