Thanks for this - always wanted a backing track for this tune so I could play over it - I will definitely check out your site and the courses available - great stuff - cheers mate!!
Thanks for your continued amazing lessons & backing tracks, Jeff ! Your lesson for Althea from a few years back was one of the first Dead tunes I worked on (the hybrid picking element was brand new to me) - I've learned so much from you since then...
I love your vids! Small mistake in the E mixolydian scale though, the 7th on the 4th fret of the B string should be flat, it should be a D natural not D sharp.
@@JeffWilliamsGuitar Just curious, but have you ever considered doing "Dupree's Diamond Blues"? It's a great progression, and imagine you'd do a killer job with it! (also thanks for the "playing outside" lesson, it's been a game-changer for me!)
How's the progress going with learning the newer editing program? I'm still looking forward to the color transitions being added to telegraph that the solo is coming up/ending!!!
Why can I never seem to catch the count-in properly on this backing track? I can play the song well, but I can never start playing along with this track at the right moment. What am I missing here lol
I told Althea I was feeling lost Lacking in some direction Althea told me upon scrutiny That my back might need protection I told Althea that treachery Was tearing me limb from limb Althea told me, now cool down boy Settle back easy, Jim You may be Saturday's child all grown Moving with a pinch of grace You may be a clown in the burying ground Or just another pretty face You may be the fate of Ophelia Sleeping and perchance to dream Honest to the point of recklessness Self-centred to the extreme Ain't nobody messin' with you but you Your friends are getting most concerned Loose with the truth, maybe its your fire Baby I hope you don't get burned When the smoke has cleared, she said That's what she said to me You're gonna want a bed to lay your head And a little sympathy There are things you can replace And others you cannot The time has come to weigh those things This space is gettin' hot You know this space is gettin' hot I told Althea, I'm a roving sign That I was born to be a bachelor Althea told me, OK that's fine So now I'm trying to catch her Can't talk to you without talking to me We're guilty of the same old things Thinking a lot about less and less And forgetting the love we bring
Hey @jeff williams do you have a major 7th in here where you want a minor 7th? This looks like the case with the one dsharp that should just be d right?
You may be Saturday's child all grown Moving with a pinch of grace You may be a clown in the burying ground Or just another pretty face You may be the fate of Ophelia Sleeping and perchance to dream Honest to the point of recklessness Self-centred to the extreme Ain't nobody messin' with you but you Your friends are getting most concerned Loose with the truth, maybe its your fire Baby I hope you don't get burned When the smoke has cleared, she said That's what she said to me You're gonna want a bed to lay your head And a little sympathy There are things you can replace And others you cannot The time has come to weigh those things This space is gettin' hot You know this space is gettin' hot I told Althea, I'm a roving sign That I was born to be a bachelor Althea told me, OK that's fine So now I'm trying to catch her Can't talk to you without talking to me We're guilty of the same old things Thinking a lot about less and less And forgetting the love we bring
I think your scale is wrong at 1:30. You show the root (R) on the fifth fret of the B string. You show a full step between the 5 and 6 on that string, so it throws everything off.
I love a lot of your tracks, but for some reason this classic slogs on the basic chord pattern. The beat gets lost every third and fourth bars it seems.
I told Althea I was feeling lost Lacking in some direction Althea told me upon scrutiny My back might need protection I told Althea that treachery Was tearing me limb from limb Althea told me, "Now cool down, boy Settle back. Easy, Jim." seriously one of the best backing tracks on YT. thank you Jeff
I love how you're not afraid to grow and redo your own tracks. we all love it!
These are simply great backing tracks - Thanks Jeff!
An Althea backing track with a groove! Thanks!
Everyone stand and give Jeff another round of applause. Giving us great backtracking updates. Thanks Jeff!
👏👏👏
That was awesome. I don’t think I’ve had more fun improvising to a backing track than this one. Thank you so much.
Love that Electric piano…..giving off Early 80’s Brent vibes
One of the best backing tracks I've ever heard!
It's awesome I just learned this on drums from this track.
Thanks for this - always wanted a backing track for this tune so I could play over it - I will definitely check out your site and the courses available - great stuff - cheers mate!!
Forever grateful for these and so happy they just keep getting better
Abso-freaking-lutely! Thanks so much for this Jeff! Could we get a redo of St. Stephen please?
No prob!
Yeah. St Stephen was a bit of a mss
Killing it as usual jeff this one is even better than the original
Thanks Adam
Just learning to play lead and this is super helpful. Thanks so much
Just a helpful note, when the mixolydian scale pops up on the screen, the B string is showing a natural 7th instead of a flattened 7th.
Dude... my hero. Straight up gold. Muchas gracias so much..
De nada
Thanks for your continued amazing lessons & backing tracks, Jeff ! Your lesson for Althea from a few years back was one of the first Dead tunes I worked on (the hybrid picking element was brand new to me) - I've learned so much from you since then...
Nice!! Thanks for this!
No prob!
I love your vids! Small mistake in the E mixolydian scale though, the 7th on the 4th fret of the B string should be flat, it should be a D natural not D sharp.
How cool is this!
Thank you very much Jeff. Masterpiece !
My pleasure!
This is truly groovy, thank you once again, Jeff! 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼
My pleasure!
@@JeffWilliamsGuitar Just curious, but have you ever considered doing "Dupree's Diamond Blues"? It's a great progression, and imagine you'd do a killer job with it! (also thanks for the "playing outside" lesson, it's been a game-changer for me!)
Love it... although I find myself having to relearn the Jerry backing part from time to time as the fingering is a bit tricky for me for some reason.
Great track. I'm not strong on theory, but I'm wondering why it's a major 7th on the 2nd string 4th fret and everywhere else it's a flat 7th?
This is awesome brother, thank you so much 🙏👍
Thanks and no prob
Jeff, are you going to any Dead & Co shows this summer?
How's the progress going with learning the newer editing program? I'm still looking forward to the color transitions being added to telegraph that the solo is coming up/ending!!!
Ah, been so distracted and focusing more on lesson videos that I haven't done anything with it! But definitely will at some point for sure.
All you need is a lyrics overlay and these become the most complete karaoke tracks ever made
For real
Why can I never seem to catch the count-in properly on this backing track? I can play the song well, but I can never start playing along with this track at the right moment. What am I missing here lol
I told Althea I was feeling lost

You may be Saturday's child all grown
Moving with a pinch of grace
You may be a clown in the burying ground
Or just another pretty face
You may be the fate of Ophelia
Sleeping and perchance to dream
Honest to the point of recklessness
Self-centred to the extreme
Ain't nobody messin' with you but you
Your friends are getting most concerned
Loose with the truth, maybe its your fire
Baby I hope you don't get burned
When the smoke has cleared, she said
That's what she said to me
You're gonna want a bed to lay your head
And a little sympathy
There are things you can replace
And others you cannot
The time has come to weigh those things
This space is gettin' hot
You know this space is gettin' hot
I told Althea, I'm a roving sign
That I was born to be a bachelor
Althea told me, OK that's fine
So now I'm trying to catch her
Can't talk to you without talking to me
We're guilty of the same old things
Thinking a lot about less and less
And forgetting the love we bring
Best lyrics,I love this song.
Sooooooooooooooo good!
Can we get a Dire Wolf Backing track? Thank you for all your vids, the only dire wolf backing track on youtube is nowhere near this quality
Hey @jeff williams do you have a major 7th in here where you want a minor 7th? This looks like the case with the one dsharp that should just be d right?
Does anyone have tips for timing the intro vamp? I just can't seem to get it right
Any chance you could make some of these with both guitars, but no keys? Would love to jam with them on piano and organ too!!
I've got the MultiTrack WAVs for all the parts for all my backing tracks on Patreon: www.patreon.com/jeffwilliamsguitar

You're right it's a typo.

Gotta disagree I jam along with it fine I think it’s one of his best
the real question is it E mix or B dorian? Let’s just call it A major.
