Agree totally, Daniela! Sad if he did not get to trust anyone ,to be a friend, at least? On my mother's side, we go back to Bavaria, as her grandfather, (my great grandfather )came from there originally.
His biographers say he was homosexual. Because of his focus to build this castle with his own personal funds (protecting in this way the State), a jealous court claimed insanity & inept to rule, stripped him of his rights and locked him up which is the equivalent of today's conservatorship.
@@haikaikokoni369_ it seems to me that letting monarchs build what seems to be a huge waste of money ends up beign a huge investment in future tourism look at Versailles the pyramids the teracotta army the forbidden city and of course the palaces of Ludwig II

i wish i could go see neuschwanstein at least once before i die.... seems like a total fairy tale experience. my god, such art. breathtaking. plus the surroundings... amazing. but how sad that ludwig II died at 40 amid all that opulence... shows that this world does not keep its promises the way we think it would.
Does anyone know if the Author of Phantom of the Opera, Gaston Leroux, ever visit Lindehof? Cuz if he did, that explains EXACTLY where he got the idea for the Lake under the Opera, where Erik The Phantom lived! This is amazing. That cave is just what Leroux wrote about in the book! 🥰
King Ludwig of Bavaria, "Ludwig the Builder" he had a few building projects going, including Neuschwenstein Castle, built by Ludwig , the big-wig at that time, he also ordered built Lindhof Castle, to prove the first effort wasn't a fluke, he was more an artist than a Monarchist, while some may criticize, he left a legacy for all Bavarian's, one thing that stand's out like a sore thumb, the "turkish room" in the Nueschweinstein Castle, they say that Ludwig himself built the Turkish room, it's fantasy talk, as Ludwig himself died in around 1886 (aged 40) but the turkish hashish pippee room, where he would smoke pippas and drink tea. Some 60 years in arrears, the "room" was not built till late 1945, at the American's bequest, apparently part of the falsies deal, they thought it was a movie set.
Years ago I played the computergame Gabriel Knight there were 3 games but one of them was about Ludwig and I loved walking around in his palace and learning about him it was much fun. I still play it once in a while. If anyone is interested you can get the game at GOG.
fascinating world figure. his palaces have paid for themselves many times over and are the top visitor attractions in Germany. They should finish Heiremschee for all to enjoy even more!!!
windstorm1000 The Germans would not do it. They have made fortune out of it but they would not spend to finish it. They're very stingy to a fault... Have u seen the emblem on a german passport, the eagle is quite austere, symbolising the German attitude toward spending... King Ludwig was a misnomer to the German characteristics of frugality... He was showy and glamorous...
Jentul Jay Not that you are wrong (you certainly are not) but I think if we made us germans realize how much profit we can earn from such tourist attractions in the long term attitudes might change... You can build yourself into a tourist attraction Ludwigs palaces are the perfect example but so is Dubai.
by leaving part of the palace incomplete, it gives civil engineers and architects invaluable insight in the methods of construction used at the time. If you wish a complete (and more elaborate) picture of the palace; go visit Versailles. It was the inspiration for this palace.
Has it is told Lindendorf was the only complete project of Ludwig II...in Newschwanstein between other things that were to be added still the Chapel and its Keep were not built, the foundations of that are visible today in the upper courtyard...and had he lived longer another castle would have been built...Falkenstein..
Wow, that grotto is so amazing! The smaller palace is much more interesting, in my eyes. Is it now said that he was killed more for buggery, spending too much, or madness? -'tarotworldtour'

Not that many people know but the castle has been known to have been the backdrop for a 1955 version of Snow White. In the hallway of mirrors that had all of the candles there is a scene in the movie where the evil queen and the Huntsman walk through that particular hallway.
Life is more valuable instead of any beautiful things, becz human being life is real and all these things are reel, and due to this beautiful palce, his uncle given death also.
After years in my life , I just realized. He is the actual Ludwig that shaped the haircut of Super Mario worlds 🏰 Castle world Boss "Ludwig von Koopa", not Beethoven 🤣

Ludwig sounds very eccentric but also fun and audacious. Visiting his castles are definitely bucket list worthy!

I have been to see all 3 of his castles. They are all fantastic ! .King Ludwig was a real dreamer !
Sahaja D Sad how it all ended for him :(
My favorite Castle is "Herrenchiemsee"
+Sahaja D lucky you! here's the dreamers in the world--they make it more beautiful.

Been there......went in the 70s. Great memories. Remember the table that was lifted up from the kitchen. Ludwig was very eccentric for sure.
I have been to Neuschwanstein a few times. My 5 year old daughter held hands with the tour guide an did the tour with her.
Ludwig was such a dreamer ❤
Pretty much so.
I love this king, built such beautiful things!
i have seen 2 of his castles they were amazing - saw the fairy tale castle and the one with the cave and boat

Herrenchiesee for me is extremely sad, it feels lonely... Neuschwanstien is ecstatic, Linderhof is Intimate with amazing gardens...
Thank-you very much to this excellent and gorgeous scenery from effulgent Tokyo in profound and cool Japan 🍎

In highlighting the modern conveniences at Neuschwanstein, they should have also featured Ludwig's toilet and yet another hidden grotto
I have been there many times.....that unhappy king was killed by his onkel........what a extraordinary man indeed....
So he made up for all the expense by people visiting his castes now. You go Ludwig.❤️😉
@Ber P. Well I guess that is better than nothing.
Thank u sis!
@Ber P. Not really. Just prosperity for those lands, which is slightly different.
@Ber P. Check out facts and get back here.
Very interesting. Greetings from London 🇬🇧

midgets hidden behind the walls!
How did they keep it cool when hot,,,

Would have been fun to see some of those unfinished rooms! :)

You're welcome
Lol
Really great 👌👌👌thanks for sharing excellent video 👍
I have been there, and visited the castle.
Beautiful creations, but I believe had Ludwig lived a century or more before, he’d have been conquered by the first army that crossed his border.
Life is more valuable instead of any beautiful things, becz human being life is real and all these things are reel, and due to this beautiful palce, his uncle given death also.

Amazing, wonderful Palace really great 👌👌👌
It's all incredible. Can you tell me the difference between a palace and castle
Majestic WOW
This is so beautiful
I heard about him from Klaus Schulze's album X.
lounge music ruins it
You see, that is why I loved Wagner. That's the point.
There's a very good and funny verse biography of Ludwig in the new POTTED PORTRAITS book.
Espectacular.
I would love to see how it looks like when all those candles are lit during the night
Kings make history, May be that is why they are the most disrespected.
