Can THIS Pikachu EX Deck Win a Tournament? - Pokemon Pocket

Pokemon TCG Pocket Gameplay and testing out this pikachu ex deck for a tournament. Talking through my thoughts as well as match ups. Should we keep this deck or keep deck building?

Half the tournament is going to bring a mewtwo deck, the other half is going to bring a Pikachu deck. There will be minimal skill expression. Whoever goes second wins in the Pikachu mirror.

Some ideas and notes about the pikachu deck that I made in the last weeks:
- You only used zapdos ex once, and you would have win the game 2 turns before if you have invested in the electrode/pikachu ex duo;
- I really think that zapdos ex is a trap to catch players that think "the more ex pokemons the better" and it really slows the pikachu ex deck, think about that and do experiments, I woudl gladly hear what you think;
- If you running 2 electrodes and 2 electabuzz I really recommend switching the zapdos ex for a pikachu, and the potion for a raichu, using the raichu as a staple/finisher with lt. surge, he hits like zapdos ex, is more stable and the opponent have nothing to respond most of the times;
- Anyway, I think that the most suitable deck for a long-tournament with 128 people is to run a pikachu ex with 4 non-evolution cards, like 2x pikachu ex, 2x zapdos ex, 2x electabuzz and 2x (electric basic pokemon that paralyzes the opponent), this way the deck became less-powerful but more stable in the long run;
- For ladder I use the exact same deck as you, but i switch a zapdos ex for a second lt surge, a second potion or a (electric basic monster that paralyzes). Zapdos Ex is a trap if you not running 4 basic pokemon without lt surge.
Also, depending on your starting hand, you have to think if your pikachu ex is going to be your finisher (make the opponnent k.o. two single-prize pokemons) or if you going to make the pikachu ex your starter and the raichu + lt surge your finisher. I normally decide this until turn 3 and keep my game plan.

I think you have the wrong idea about Zapdos ex. It's used only as an HP buffer. It has the same 1 energy/20 damage, same retreat cost. You shouldn't be investing into Zapdos unless you have to, which means you are probably losing and replacing it with a Pikachu won't change that.

@@AA-yx4tl yeah, I get the HP buffer idea, but i still trying the deck making the opponent killing 2 single prize monsters to finish with pikachu ex or raich + lt surge, without the need of the zapdos ex...
But again, I'm just testing! Wrote that to see what you guys think.

I play a similar deck , with a set of Pikachu/Raichu in place of the two Buzz's you run.
It feels like this is one of the most skill expressive decks in the meta rn.

Pikachu/Raichu is req u to put Surge and nornal pikachu atlaest 1 that only sometime it make your gameplay stuck but when it work it make you op when u swap Raichu to active spot then 1 shot them LOL
