while we were flying one day an officer from the national guard come by and told us that they were expecting a group of helicopters to land in about 45 mins and that if we could ground all flying till they leave, we gladly agreed. We sat and awaited there approach with camera ready. After they had left we got a chance to talk to a few of the soldiers, they told us they were out on a training mission and that it was a crazy return flight due to the fact that they were delayed from leaving the base they were at because one of the black hawks had engine problems and they waited while the mechanics fixed it, and that they drew straws to see who got unlucky enough to ride in the one with the issues. Obviously the flight went without a hitch.
it was pretty cool to witness this in person and it will always be a good memory.
As of today 5/14/17 that was the first and only time they landed here.

Brought back some old memories ! Except, my Platoon landed 6 UH-1s in a high school football field in Albany NY. THAT ! was tight. Rotor blades only a few feet from the field goal posts. Did it at sunrise and half the town came out to watch us load 50 Marines for a training mission up to Lake Placid.

Frankey Crawford our field is a RC aircraft field and we lease it from the state. So basically someone from the guard walks over and tells us there plan about 1/2hr prior to arrival so we can make sure none of our aircraft are in the air.

Well you could have been more specific, I see a National Guard facility in the background. At first it looked extremely suspicious, military aircraft especially with armed personnel onboard can't just land where ever, it's a bunch of formalities and regulations that have to be cleared for civilian world property to be infuriated.
