I can't believe Jeff totally didn't notice that creepy part in last section of Side A, because most of the reactor I watch, they perhaps some didn't notice during that classroom scene, but when that empty rooftop scene kicks in they immediately pick it up something creepy is happening here. And then when Jeff go through the first section of Side B which supposingly served as the elaboration of final section in Side A, Jeff still didn't notice what the MV is conveying, at that point this is beyond surprising that he didn't notice but instead it become kind of disappointing that he actually ain't as sharp as most reactors or average audience out there or should I said his observation skill is perhaps below average? I don't know. But that did make me feel sorry for him.
a movie in korea named ditto was released in 2000. the story goes a girl and a guy fall in love but end up in an accident and the guy wears a cast. just like heesoo in the mv. what i think of this mv is survivors guilt. they might have been friends in the past but due to a tragic accident (relating with the deer, they might have hit in a car crash) and all of them died except heesoo. heesoo thinks she should have died with them and imagines them. if you see heesoo's cast, one of the members wrote "don't die!!"" heesoo also gets a call from minji at the end and in part b where she leaves the rest of the girls symbolizing her moving on. you could see the deer in both mvs, and a deer symbolizes a good omen, meaning a guide is watching over you from heaven (new jeans in the story are dead and watching over heeseo.) the guy in the mv is what helps her move on from the survivors guilt.

@@duoaiziji ditto is basically another term for "yo same!". For example, "I really like NewJeans" "DITTO! I love them too!"
It's frpm italian "same", or "likewise", so it could be:
"I like you, I don't want no riddle, so say ditto (meaning say "I like you too)"
There are many theories around ditto's mv, one of which is that the girl refers to the fact that the girls in new jeans had an accident and the girl with the cast in her hand was the 6th friend who survived, and through from the videos he remembers them and is finally able to let them go. So at the end of side B, with adulthood he can remember them again, watching the video.
Another theory is that it is letting go of part of your childhood and tastes, like fans, who accompany a group for years and many let those tastes go, but over the years they can remember them fondly (:

And the most famous theory is that Hessoo is supposed to represent us K-pop. Idol's and the boy is supposed to represent reality, Hessoo was goin through something in her life that was slowing her down, like many of us when we got into K-pop. Then she starts becoming obsessed with K-pop AKA NewJeans and starts believing their her friends, but at the end of the day she's still alone and Nwjns r never actually their and will always be separated by Hessoo's camera witch represents are phone our laptops TV, and when Hesso is crying and needs real life comfort she realizes NewJeans are not gonna be there for her, the the scene were their dancing in front of the train ,Hesso realized that she can't live without NwJns but, NwJns can live totally fine without her, then when she dropped her camera in that moment she decides to quit K-pop and focus on real life, then when she's older she gose back to K-pop. Crying tears of joy showing that she doesn't regret the experience. So moral of the story is use K-pop in the right way bc it's always there it's always something we can come back too , but real life isn't that will grow with you if u don't face them now if you don't handle them now you will regret later on, do what Hessoo did.

The car accident theory can be one of the theories. But I think the most appropriate theory is the come-of-age one. Because before the release of this song, minji said that the sixth person is actually representing their fandom and it is a song talking about relationships between idols and fans. Here is my analysis:
Girl recording nwjns dancing: fangirling over new jeans
Girl doesn’t use umbrella when nwjns don’t have one: fans are supporting them when they r overcoming difficulties
Nwjns scribble on the girl’s cast: nwjns supporting fans when fans r overcoming difficulties
Girl breaks the camcorder: back to normal / real life
Box with dust: memories with nwjns
She chooses real life instead of nwjns (finding her bf) and when time passes and she soon becomes a grown-up, she looked back into the memories of her and nwjns, which gives her comfort and happiness.
In conclusion, nwjns will always be with you and comfort you whenever you need. And it will always be a part of your memory.

My theory is: they all got into a car accident, and Heesoo was the only one who survived; hence she got a cast, but she couldn't believe she lost them, that she even saw them coloring and writing on it which was all in her imagination; because the next scene shows her cast clean, so that's why the lyrics say "I imagined you, with the feeling, that's been always there, I've been waiting all this time" so I'm guessing she still hasn't overcome the pain of losing them; that she is still in denial, however the deer maybe represented them telling her to move on which she did, but no matter what she can't stop missing them and going back to see their memories again..

Hey guys! Don' distort NewJeans MV's real intention and meaning. the 6th girl's full name is Ban Hee Soo[ban hi su]. It represents Bunnies. Ditto is a fan song dedicated to NJ's fan, bunnies. what NJ want to tell is that they will be with Bunnies anytime anywhere. though time goes by NJ will wait for Bunnies at the same place where Bunnies come back. This MV represents the way that the fans go through in their lives. they love their stars, enthusiastic and confront reality of lives and live their lives...forget their own enthusiasm for their stars. and aware that they have forgot their stars. they take our the old VHS tape, play it again... my theory: new jeans and heesoo were a group of best friends. one day they got into a car accident and heesoo was the only one that survived, hence the cast. because of her depression and how much she misses her dead friends, she hallucinates about them and acts as if they were still alive. in side A, her putting down her umbrellla and following new jeans into the rain represents her letting her delusions consume her. in side B, instead of following new jeans into the rain, she walks away alone with her umbrella which represents her finally letting go of the past and accepting that her friends are gone. in the end, she (now an adult) is shown rewatching her cds and reminincing the good times when new jeans were still alive. also, the deer is a symbol of new jeans in the afterlife telling heesoo to let go of the past

The boy is from k drama twenty five twenty one and the girl is the lead from All of Us are dead.I think the video is she’s just imagining that new jeans are there in her mind that is why her classmates and the guy are looking at her weird.
I'll pass on the theories but musically, this is astonishing. All five have absolutely amazing voices different enough to be identifiable and offer something different. The producers have assembled a superb team -- the lyrics are interesting, the music is terrific, and the vocals are generational. I was intrigued by their earlier work but outright stunned by this song and mv. And then lastly as if it even needs to be mentioned they are all just stunningly beautiful. This is, well, they are the best new band of the year by a mile and I'd vote this the song of the year from anyone.
the song actually have 2nd gen kpop like 2010's vibes which fast beat and beautiful melodies.
for the video i can see this is the strategy new jeans made. like they want ppl to talk about this with so many different perceptions and theories. they made the mv like some horror school vibes and dramatic moment. great job and they actually did it

I swear you're not the only one. It made me feel happy but after hearing what the song is about I literally sobbed. It's the most bizarre feeling and it's insane how hyperaware they are of the purpose and presence of kpop culture in people's lives. They just showed us how personal music and artists can be to their listeners, and how priorities change as time goes on in life. It's the most bittersweet thing.

Newjeans SLAYED one more time with their great song, great theory and a beautiful visuals..
i feel like someone who is veteran kpop fan like me (following kpop since in middle school and now im 26 yo lol) would instantly think this song with its MVs more toward nostalgia feeling of long lost fans. because that what happens when you just suddenly stumbled upon the old songs of your fav kpop band. all memories about that time (like school, friends, fangirl/fanboying etc) comes rushing in and i feel "ooh.. i wish i can go back once again" once you listen to the old songs. This whole concept is quite like REPLY kseries. If anyone havent watched it, i recommended it. In the series the premise is the lead girl reminiscing about her old memories during school time, remembering her first crush, her first idol, her story with her friends etc and all is connected through some specific things that happened at that time. So, she would be like "in 1995, summer, the olympic happens, this boyband made their debut and i was in school with bla bla and so on so on .." (disclaimer: not accurate example, i just made it up).
So in this case, heeseo is an adult now and used to be an active bunnies (hence the bunny doll on the box). She started to look back at her memories during school time through watching her video 'with' NJ. I feel like they take this archetype to the extreme. so, when i was fangirling at school i usually did it with my friends and it would be very chaotic lol. but in this mv maybe she has a problem with making friends to the point she made believe that NJ is her real friends. I mean in middle and high school we kinda joking about it right with our fellow kpop fan friends like " she is my best friend, he is my husband, my boyfriend dont take him! " right? lol. but in her case she is far beyond that, she made NJ like her way to cope to the extreme way i guess?. But then she realized it and woke up , especially after she feels that there is someone who genuinely curious and worries and want to make friends with her and also become her first crush (the lead boy).
so, imho the theory of accident, survivor guilt and stuff is too far and too much lol. sorry. especially after the agency said on article that this song is for bunnies. and if the theory of accident an survivor guilt was true it doesnt mean much for bunnies. but anyone is entitled to their opinion, so that is okay.
At the end, maybe thru this song and mv NJ hopes that they can accompany us through our journey and made good memories with us so in the future you have so many old good fun memories you could look back too. just like myself with shinee :) and so NJ hope we (bunnies) say ditto (me too)
There are many theories but the main one I think are:
1) Heesoo, a student with no friends created her own in her mind so they were never really there and she finally grew up and let go of them when she fell in love with a boy.
2) this one is not really a theory but analysis; basically heesoo’s name pan hee-soo is a homonym for the fandom name bunnies. and basically the whole video is portraying a fan’s support for their idols and showing how they eventually grow up and find love
YES the first theory is exactly like mine. He noticed how lonely she was and became her friend. But in the b side you see her rewatching the films and still being able to see them. And when they reappear they’re saying ‘it’s been so long”. Maybe something happened with the boy and she became lonely again. ? Idk but these mvs are so cool.
My theory is that Heesoo and NewJeans in different timeline and the camera is the way the time connect
Hee-soo means Bunnies, the fandom of New Jeans, and most fans can only get in touch with the singer through media (ex. the camcorder that Hee-soo keeps carrying in the music video), as shown in the video. Fans and singers are always difficult to be together in reality, but singers are always there, and sometimes people look at the fans who follow the singers in a strange way. I think it's like that. Haha Fans and singers who have always been together like that, as time goes by, the fans start to focus on other things in reality, and the distance in their hearts (I think this is expressed as a deer in the middle) is bound to get farther away, and later on, the fans This situation of leaving will come eventually, but looking back over time, it seems to mean that the idols we always were with were our favorite idols back then, and those idols were always in our memories.

Wow, I have to say that New Jeans left me an impression about this new release.
I think in side B, the story behind the mv is clearer than the A one. As you can see in the beginning of the mv, the scene started with the corridor that all the girls run through then they all disappear in next scene or with the scene in classroom, you can see the same. It means that the girl who got the cast that imagine all things. There is the theory that they used to be a group of friends but then got into an accident, and only she survived (that why she got a cast and all the the movies she watched are recorded when those girls still alive. Besides, she cannot overcome the pain; hence, she imagined her friends still by her side). However, she dropped the cast from the terrace, meaning that she accepted the truth that her friends are gone. While in side A, at the end of the mv, the girl still sleep with her friends, which symbolized that she cannot confront with the reality . Moreover, there are another things different between side A and B is that in side B her crush is now by her side (at the scene the phone is rang, and they walked together)

This is my theory jeff:
From what I see, Heesoo (vhs girl) is the main character and we see through her lenses.
Side A explains how Heesoo has these imaginary friends (newjeans) as a way to cope from depression or hallucinations? At somepoint in the MV, it was shown that the girls are not real (minji erasing of the legs of a girl on the chalkboard). Either way side A represents Heesoo's past and she chose to stick with her hallucinations. (Which is why you see newjeans more in side A)
In side B, the guy plays a character as someone in the PRESENT, concerned and actually cares for Heesoo (you), but you have to make the choice to let go of your past (drops camera) and move on forward. (You see the dude in side B more)
The deer represents your intuition and the choice you make.
(SIDE A, choosing the unreal friends = deer stuck in a cold place, alone like Heesoo)
(SIDE B, choosing to move on = deer looks at you and moves on.)
(Main character) Heesoo was either an only survivor in an accident (the cast) and all her friends passed away and she was reminiscing or she was a victim of bullying and imagined of these girls as a coping mechanism...
a theory i saw is that basically the girl and new jeans were friends maybe in a dance club and then they all got into an accident recently which is why the girl has the cast and she cant cope with it so she goes to all the places she went to before with them to recreate video’s theyve taken in the past which is why as an adult she has the vhs tapes. the guy in the mv knew them which is why he looks worried about her instead of weirded out like the rest. shes seeing new jeans because their ghosts are with her watching over her until she can move on. the deer that keeps appearing is hanni cause hanni is the most suspicious and the odd one out in the pictures for the album and she’s making sure that the girl can move on and the scene with the overgrown grass where new jeans is doing a dance where theyre very flowy and fold in together is their ghosts finally being able to pass on since shes moved on. i like how when the song says “ive got nothing to lose” she throws down the camera and breaks it because she has nothing on there to lose because all the videos she took after the accident didnt have them in it so it wouldve just been hurting her to keep it.

heesoo is a very lonely girl and in order to battle that she makes her own imaginary friends aka new jeans

another theory (video) that i saw which i rlly like is abt hanni bc out of all the members her reactions are the most different maybe showing that she’s the only real one and maybe leesoo is following her around in admiration grouping her with all these imaginary people

Take time to read. DITTO THEORY (a thread): The MV started with a grown woman Heesoo, playing an old video from the past with her friends (newjeans). Flashback, when she was young, she always brings this camera around to places where she and her friends hangout and record those moment as if the members were still there. In between those recording he captures this guy. Obviously she likes him but pretends to ignore him. The scene in umbrella was seen in both side A and B with two different scenarios. The members were waiting for her decision if she would go and use the umbrella alone or go with her friends and walk under the rain together. In side A, she chose the latter, but in side B, she leaves alone.
At the end it was revealed she was aloe during the entire time. The members was just part of her hallucination. At the end of the mv she sees the deer. They were in an accident (car accident) that was caused by a deer and she was the only one that survived and her friends (the members) did not. In side B, she was slowly abandoning her camera and she was also not often recording the members. Instead she just watches from afar. Until, she decided to break the camera (to move on). But still the accident haunts her. Hence she still sees the deer. The phone ringing says (민지 Minji) among the girls she was closest to Minji. They have this special bond and she was always the one picking her up from sadness. But she has no one now since she's gone too. Heesoo, Minji and Haerin have some kind of connection They were both seen with cat, they call Haerin Kitty Kang also Minji was drawing a girl that look like Haerin while looking at the camera like she shows something other's don't know. Grown Heesoo was seen teary-eyed after the clip of Haerin was shown on the TV. The guy was probably the reason why she was able to move on. Because as shown in the scene he was always the one who notices her and check up on her whenever she was alone and crying.
Since the messages these girls have written was reflecting a "survivor's guilt." She felt she should've died with them but the girls insisted she should live and get better soon. Heesoo's (main lead) bandage written by girls. "don't dieㅜㅜ" "get better soon" "genius director ban heesoo" "OMG"♡
The deer might be a symbolism of self-awareness. (What does it mean a deer crosses you path? A deer crossing your path is a reminder to check in with yourself to make sure you are not living in the past or in the future and to realign yourself back to the present moment. It can be a sign that you need to connect with yourself on a deeper level.) Whenever she encounters the deer it could mean she's unconsciously healing from the trauma. In side B MV, the deer was seen walking away so maybe it's the sign that she's starting to move on. In the end, Grown Heesoo was able to move on from the death of her friends as she was now able to go back and rewatch these memories with a smile on her face.

actually there’s a movie called ditto which is about two students of the same school, one from the 70s and one from the 2000s who are able to communicate through a radio and fall in love without knowing they are from different eras, that’s why heesoo in the mv has a more modern uniform than newjeans

nabi core did an interpretation, i really recommend checking it out because it’s better than what i can conjure up ❤
but i think that heesoo was a part of the friend group containing the newjeans members and herself. but they got into a car accident with heesoo being the only survivor and her only injury seen is her arm. and the accident was probably caused by the deer. which is why it kept showing up. it was a reminder of her passed friends and the tragedy. and when she is recording the njs girls, she’s actually just imagining them being there. hence why when we get the shot of the classroom with the njs members, the students are staring at heesoo as if she’s crazy. and when heesoo paints minji’s pinky finger, she’s again imagining this as it is later shown that heesoo’s pinky finger was painted. as well as when the members were decorating the cast, heesoo was agin imagining that because of it later showing to be completely empty. but eventually, the guy helps her move on. since he’s always the only one looking at her with caring eyes besides the members. the guy kept checking up on her and eventually she got to move on as seen in the last scenes of the mvs.
How I interpret all of this is that the cast girl wants to hang out with the guy but she doesnt have the courage and is afraid. The deer symbolizes "deer in the headlights" which is her, having fear. New jeans might be her imaginary friends keeping her at comfort, until the point where she had to conquer her fear. She drops the camcorder and therefore the group and had the courage to talk to the dude. Years later she reminisce the time she spent in school. Whether or not new jeans ever existed is up to interpretation, something the director left open on purpose. its a spice of life type of story
I guess this is base from the actual korean movie "Ditto", a relationship between two timeline and can communicate tru radio.

There was a theory saying that the MC (the one with the injured arm) and nj are friends, and they got into a terrible accident in which only MC survived.
And the theory is basically saying MC has survivor guilt, but throughout the MV she moves on with the help from the dude (the one that constantly shows up in the MVs)
The deer is suppose to represent moving on, so when the deer finally leaves, it means MC has finally moved on. So at the end she can watch the videos of the girls without feeling guilty.

one of the theories is that an accident occurred with the girls (which is why there was deer) which maybe involved a deer and heeso (girl with camera) was the only who survived and she can remember them from the camera. and another one is that she wants to be apart of nwjns and shes imagining them and stuff and she threw her camera to forget them or to stop imagining. and people have mentioned that hanni is her bias because hanni is always looking at the camera and looking at her and in one photo i saw everyone was looking away from the picture but hanni and one scene in the m/v everyone was facing the other way and hanni was sitting down looking heeso.
I almost cried when I saw the end of the second video because it reminded me of the ferry accident and the students who died could be about the lady's age now ..shes wearing black mourning the nd is keeping his distance and she runs away she was taking a video like she did before but the schools mates dont know what to do , she breaks the camera and the bf consoles her , it reminded me of a sad music video about the accident by "the ark" called the light They were so talented but I guess people didn't support it because of the theme

When in the song side B it shows someone with a boy walking in a brige i think thats actually Hanni cause Hesso as a cast on but there is no white cast showing and Hesso and Hanni are also the only ones wearing black uniforms. :D
