Ever since most of the pirates discovered Haki smoker has been having a hard time
Smoker just hasnt mastered the smoke fruit i guess, i dont wanna say its a bad fruit because “every fruit is good as long as the user knows how to use it” but still, it doesnt seem like a very ideal fruit especially considering haki lol

What i like about smoker is that he doesn’t give a shit about rank or who’s stronger. If something is right he will fight for it no matter how weak, strong, high or low in rank you are.

Smoker is going through his own arc right now, just like Luffy did at the start when he faced Crocodile and Aokiji and realised there were people out there that much stronger than him. Smoker already knew, of course, but he needed his confidence bringing down a few pegs to realise that he likely isn't ABLE to catch Luffy any more, and needs to get much, much stronger. He'll show up later with a big power boost.

I think that in punk hazard and especially in his fight with vergo he understood that he has to change his combat style and do a better usage to his devil fruit. Otherwise he can't compete against good haki users.

Smoker has no imagination with his devil fruit, like it should literally be overpowered. You could do a smokescreen, make them suffocate with your smoke, or add haki to the smoke to make like a heavy blanket or some shit. Such a waste.

FireIsTheCIeanser yeah i nvr got that either but that’s the way it seems for smoker, one difference between his fruit and for example Akainus or aokiji is the fact he can’t make other things his element, for example akainu can melt a rock and aokiji can freeze one turning it to ice or magma smoker can’t do that, maybe in his awakening but as far as we know he’s a different type of logia
@@firedragon3337 Nah, smoker can produce more smoke, other than his body, he just doesnt do it because he don't want and has no imagination. It's a requirement for any Logia Devil Fruit, the fruit MUST have the ability to: 1 - Turn the user in an element, 2 - Create said element, 3- Control said element.
He loses like that because of the plot, but yeah, he's pretty lame in using his devil fruit powers.
I believe Smokers smart enough to know he didn't have a chance, but that doesn't mean he was going to give up and go down without a fight, and hopefully save his subordinates.
Kinda cool that the anime at least made Smoker fight him because in the Manga, Doffy just pulls up and One Shots him.

Despite all his losses, Smoker is still an absolute badass to me and my favourite marine. It would be nice to see him win once though.
Smoker DF has so much potential . Smoker character we'll have resurrection Oda doesn't introduce certain characters for no reason . He will get a power up towards ending of the series . Just think of the possibilities he can do with his DF
Smoker IS strong... even in Tashigi's weaker body, Smoker actually fought against Luffy well with Luffy thinking he was strong. And that was pure skill.

Everyone seems to be forgetting smoker doesnt have his signature weapon (as one of the grunts clearly pointed out). Even if he still would've lost the fight, it wouldn't have ended so quickly
You also have to consider that Doflamingo was only using 5% of his power here
Vergo a subordinate of Doffy who is weaker than completely ragdolled smoker and beaten him in like 5 minutes if doffy was serious it would have been 2 minutes,if it was Luffy fighting him in G4 it would have taken less than one minute lol.
Vergo was not a Devil Fruit user, he used Haki and Haki alone, if Smoker had his Jitte, He may have had a chance with Doflamingo.
That Jitte was made of "Sea Prism Stone" and this allowed it to cancel out Devil Fruit powers for about 10 seconds at a time.
If Smoker had his Jitte and even hit Doffy once, the battle could have changed drastically.

It's not a question and whether or not he believed he could win it is a matter of his pride and honor as a Lawman. That he couldn't let Doffy go besides another eye-opening moment for him in the story character wise it's one of those moments in cop movies. where it's if I can't take it in I'll see you in hell.

Tbh Vergo did point out why smokers keeps on losing in the new world, smoker fights by enveloping his opponents then going in for a harsh hit. But in a world filled with strong armament haki users that makes him a much bigger target for big hits. He needs to change his fighting style if he wants out of this losing streak.

I think too many people are focusing on Smoker losing and not focusing on who he's losing to. A captain from the other half of the grand line is holding his own against doflamingo and vergo longer than anyone else as a now vice admiral. Hes still just a vice admiral marine in the end of the day, the only marines we ever see get moments like him are admirals or higher or old ppl

In this scene , the things that makes him weak is because he is so lighthearted, and also hes doesnt have advantage on stamina and determination.... he just not serious at all...
