probably when the original owners lived here illinois was a different place and they enjoyed many good years there but when everything changed they bailed and now are trying to sell it to some other sap that wants to remain and live in illinois, this is a beautiful estate and very desirable no doubt about it but i wouldn't buy it because its in illinois, can you imagine the taxes not to mention other things, if i am going to spend money like this i might go for Ft Lauderdale or Vegas not illinois
Illinois is tax free for retirement income, rates high in healthcare, property taxes are high but there is a discount once one reaches the age of 55 and Illinois boasts a 4.85% flat income tax on all income minus SS, pension, 401k or other retirement income. People criticize Illinois but really need to know what they are talking about before criticizing the state. My wife and I have lived here in the Chicagoland for 18 years, and are not finding a better deal other than maybe the weather 2-3 months out of the year.
