Pixel 4 is only hated by the RUclips Tech community. Google designed this phone or the masses not you guys lol. All you need to do is check out user reviews 4-4.5/5 stars for this device. Best Android experience on a phone and incredible camera. When LG did the Ultrawide angle years ago, tech community shrugged. Only when Samsung and now Apple joined in, it has now become a must have feature. The problem is you guys do not represent the average consumer, your needs are completely different in terms of features and most importantly battery life. Excellent video btw, I am not targetting you guys but the tech community as a whole, they really dropped the ball this time
@@ssaini5028 Wrong !!! Apple is the phone for the masses it has always been ! They are so easy to use that old non tech folks get it !!..not customizable at all , same old screens and features since forever .. ..very few changes . And is still has better camera, battery and CPU combined than pixel. This year the Best overall phone was not the iPhone 11 pro ..it was the cheaper iPhone 11. The main complain of the pixel 4 ...is the price ...they wrapped the software ( the good stuff) on the worst hardware !!! If they debuted the Pixel 4 XL for like 350- 400 dlls less it would have been less hate cause less face it ...hardware wise ….it sucks!!!
Marques Brownlee hella unexpected collab, but very welcome opinion...I just feel you could have done a shout-out to this video maybe in youtube stories or so
I have never owned a pixel phone but I did get the Pixel 4XL and I've had this phone for about 3 weeks I have to say it's the best Android phone I've ever used. The camera the software everything I will admit the battery could be better, but the phone is solid
Pretty good actually. It does last me all day using it like a phone text messages calls whatever social media you use couple videos on RUclips here in there it does last me all day but depending on how you use it
Roughly I'm getting about 5 to 6 hours screen on time which is not bad in my opinion. And the phone literally last a day and a half using it normally for calls text messages social Media
One fun thing about the motion sense. Yes it seems kind of gimmiky, but everyone loves how fast the face unlock is. Isn't that one of the things that makes it so fast? That it's on before you grab it and ready to look for your face.
@@malcolmgent8213 secure enough to be used as a biometric option for banking apps. Stop tryna be a troll nobody cares about the eyes open thing. Any one can grab ur finger while ur sleep to unlock a phone. And anyone can steal ur iPhone and point it at ur face. It's all the same. The main diff is that the pixel has 2 it cameras. iPhone has 1
No one cares about the eyes closed thing and yet they fixed it...because it didn’t matter. 🤔Who cares how many cameras the other has, because that isn’t what provides the security anyhow, right? Right...and just because banks are accepting it for purchase authentication doesn’t mean anything, because eyes being open isn’t a requirement. It simply has to consistently recognize the appropriate cardholder(s)consistently. Someone being able to authenticate in your sleep...is an issue! I don’t understand how some of my fellow Android users will defend their preferred OEM to the fire, but will mention an irrelevant differentiation of features to justify their point when they drag Apple into it. No one was trolling...which is the go assertion (or isheep spotted) when people want to attempt to discredit a valid point of which they don’t approve. Apple with their mere one camera can’t be opened if you point it at someone’s sleeping face, since people sleep with their eyes closed... and it functioned that way from the very beginning. Plus, pointing it at their face while awake won’t do it, they HAVE to be “paying attention” unless they toggle that function off. Glad Google fixed it so you won’t have your feelings hurt anymore.
One plus and Google should be making a new brand. One plus makes the hardware and Google makes the software. Maybe just the revival of Google+ naming. 😆😆
@@djdelarosa25 you can see the mess oneplus oxygen team had done on the recent Android 10 updates. Maybe it's fine on its latest 7T. But it is a real mess on its 7 and 6/6t. Not sure why it is more chaotic from 9 to 10 when compared to from 8 to 9. Although technically Google should have make updating easier? I'm not sure. Just guessing.
Watching on my pixel 4 and everything that was said was spot on. My favorite thing about this phone is the smoothness of the screen. Even with the not so high specs, if you forget about them this is a pretty good phone
I mean the specs are not bad at all actually really good the snapdragon was only a year old when it came out and is still fast today also Google optomized their phones really well simmilar to how I phone does it which is why I love Google it reminds me of the I phone but with my preferred os.
I finally got my pixel 4 XL after buying it on black friday (which replaces my s8)....its been two days and I have absolutely no complaints as a power user! The screen is gorgeous, digging the cloth case, fantastic camera, blazingly fast, and all the google AI and assistant to tie into your smart home devices and your entire life together.
@@howong8561 After more days with it, the battery is good but not great. It should lasts a full day if you're a power user who multitasks between some RUclips, streaming music and everyday activities. Add in some mobile gaming and don't expect it to last a whole day. As for charging, I think my old Samsung S8 charges faster than the pixel 4XL so I'm not 100% sure if the pixel has the latest quick charging capabilities? Or the bigger battery naturally makes it charge longer. That's the only thing that annoys me with the phone at the moment.
@@howong8561 there was a discount on black Friday. I think it may be discounted again for boxing day if you're in Canada on selected carriers. If you're just mainly interested in the camera, then I suggest waiting for the galaxy S11. Rumor has it the camera will the best of the best but of course it's gonna be $$$.
I've had the Pixel 4 since launch, upgrading from the Pixel 2. To "solve" the battery issue turn off the Radar gimmick and you'll easily get north of 24hrs
Correction, wide angle is something some people were looking for. Many people really don't care about it. I have never taken a photo where I would need it. 🤷♂️
@Farxdz and when other cameras lack optical zoom that the pixel has, it could be disappointing as well. What's so hard to get about different features for different people.
With all the telemarketing and scam calls that people receive, most people don't pick up the phone to numbers they don't recognize, so they can use motionsense for that. And as for the music you might like the song but just not want to hear it at that time. And motionsense is optional, so I don't think it's negative.
I love my pixel 4XL. I'm all about the software experience, so I'm perfectly happy with it. I have the 90hz enabled full time in development mode, and I'm still above 50% every night when I put it on charge. Great video, BTW... 😁
@@kunalsharma2098 I haven't tested my Pixel from 100% to 0%. But I believe he said he was getting over 5-hours on a single charge with 90hz enabled full time.
He basically compared something that didn’t relate to each other. What does having to pick up the phone or skipping a song have to do with motion sense other than that motion sense can trigger those actions and how are those actions considered negative toward it being triggered by motion sense. Basically nothing there is nothing negative about using motion sense to trigger other actions and those actions cant reflect negatively on motion sense. its one thing to say motion sense doesn’t work very well, its another thing to say that song skipping and not picking up your phone is a negative thing. Its sort of like me saying “i have to use my car to go to work today. Oh no using my car to go to work uses gas. That makes having a job i need to travel to by car a negative thing”. It just doesn’t make any sense because they aren’t connected. What he said was pretty dumb and short sighted.
I'm not even a fan of the P4 but it was a stretch indeed. He conflated using motion sense for predominantly "negative" (subjective) things makes it an actual negative feature. Wacktastic.
I don't normally leave comments but I just wanted to say that you guys are my favorite tech YT channel these days. nobody does it better. keep up the great work!
Let me put on the list: Mkbhd Dave Lee HardwareCanucks Jonathan Morrison Jon Rettinger These are my fav tech youtubers. All their video are pretty af. Sometimes i just watch their videos because of how amazing of their video quality. With respect, this just my list.
@@d0llygainz No way...All these channels clickbaits with Apple prodcuts. If it wasent for Apple they wouldent have any content. LTT, Jayztwocents, Bitwit, Pauls Hardware, gamers nexus....Thats where the tech is, not what latest crap Apple did or not did right...
Two negatives = A positive Especially when you're trying to skip a song you're not in the mood to hear or avoid someone you're not in the mood to speak to. 😊
I came from a 7pro, I get 6hrs of sot on my p4xl and force 90hz and dark theme, this phone is awesome, this is coming from a true user that I use everyday
most reviewers only mention "there are issues with Pixel 4 such as blablabla.." but they didn't really tell whether they have encountered it first hand ..that's why Pixel issues have been blown out of proportion.. I've been using it for 3 weeks.. no issues... perfect & fantastic phone
Basically the best thing about pixel is it doesn't slow down like other Android phones. I bought my wife the note ten and itks already slowed down significantly compared to where it was brand new. Pixel 4 offers the best Android experience hands down
@@2000sidhupunjab i used the pixel 2xl for 3 years and it was still faster than my brothers brand new s10+. the only experience that is similar and better (talking about phone slowdowns) is ios. Did you actually own any pixel phones or are you just saying that because a reviewer said so?
OnePlus doesn't slow down either that much. And tbh every phone slows down, it doesn't matter what they do with their software they'll slow down eventually. Some slows down a little, some a lot.
As a pixel 4xl user. my battery life easily lasts a day (20-30% left at end of day), the phone is fast, snappy and the camera(s) are brilliant. i personally like the optical zoom as im now able to get very detailed zoom with their smart tech for clearing the image. The refresh rate I've had no issues, realistically eyes open / closed shouldn't be an issue at all, (new update has fixed this also, on my phone at least) while it is expensive initially, i got a good deal from EE even with pre-order. The phone for me is honestly faultless. face unlock has honestly never missed a beat, neither has the motion sense. Honestly does not deserve the slander it gets. faster than my mums new galaxy note and on just normal comparisons my camera arguably outperforms it also. happy with my decision as every pixel device ive owned has never slowed down or felt lacking, unlike other samsungs, sony's and iphones I've had previously
I have used motion sense a lot and I hope they don't ignore it. I really hope they go further with it in the future. I also found that it probably would have worked better if they taught people how to use it better. I found that the motion that I see reviewers make with their hands doesn't work often. And it's dumb, because that's what the animation shows. However I found doing a bit more of a flick motion works 99 percent of the time. Sure I've had a few accidental track skips, but that's more of "just push the phone slightly further away from what I'm doing with my hands". Love my pixel 4 xl so far :)
I agree 100% with your follow up review. Since the last update, I've experienced a slight improvement in battery life. The software is experience has been so good, that I'm still hesitant to get the Note 10+. I know that Samsung will not provide the software experience you get with the Pixel.
I feel like that's the story with all of Google's devices. Since they are all software-focused, the same device will end up getting better over time. Most other devices get worse.
I get your point. The pixel phones age better than most other flagships. The software experience is everything about this phone but they could really have done better with the pricing.
@@johnboscookpala7928 I owned a 2XL and currently a 3. I didn't need to upgrade from 2XL because 2XL was an absolute software beast but I just had to have the not pink 3. Software is unbelievably fluid and the ecosystem is excellent in accessing and sharing. I was interested in getting an apple phone since I haven't had one in awhile just out of interest but my Google is like I said fluid so why bother? Downside is battery, but overall an excellent smart phone.
What I love Motion Sense for is detecting whether or not I'm close-by. Having it light up when I get near the phone makes it the one feature that actually works flawlessly.
I could see myself using the heck out of motion sense. Just like on my iPhone 8 I use my 3D touch so much, though many tech reviewers explain that it isn't that crucial of a feature. I know now on the later iPhones, the 3D touch is gone. I like to take advantage of the shorthand features that make these smartphones feel so- well- smart! Great review!
Just got my pixel 4xl and love this phone long time Samsung user. Camera is really great. Videos are just fine. Knowing the fact it's supported 3 years major software update 4 years security update it's great. Gonna keep this phone for as long as it gets security update.
For a student who spends a LOT of time at a desk whilst listening to music I LOVE motion sense. It's so easy to accidentally get distracted by my phone when I pick it up, unlock it and skip a song but with motion sense all I have to do is wave at it. I also find the alarm silencing super convenient and it decreases time that my alarm is ringing and potentially waking other people in my house. Don't get me wrong, more motion sense features need to be rolled out asap but at the same time we need to remember that this is first Gen tech. And in the sense (excuse the pun) of tech companies bringing out new features and having the guts to try something new can only be a good thing in the long run.
I bought this phone at launch despite all the hate, skepticism and controversy. It does suck that the price dropped so quickly, but that's the way it is. It's actually a really good phone, I wouldn't have known that by looking at the spec sheet or holding it in my hand for a few days. It became apparent after a couple of weeks of using it as a daily driver. I recently took it to a mountain summit in Spain where it surprised me with resilient battery life, despite using it to take a lot of photos and videos. When I put the phone on a wireless car mount the aggressive and reliable face unlock with the motion sense become very valuable. I don't need to touch the phone just look at it quick to unlock it, and I don't have a car with phone integration so when I want to change a song I just swipe my hand quick without feeling distracted. IMO solid phone that maybe should have just been sold cheaper.
I have the regular pixel 4 and changed a lot of settings and I get about 5 hours of on screen time with extremely heavy usage . Also great review and I'm subscribing
I've been using the pixel xl4 for 3 weeks now and I love it. For the motion sense I didn't really have any issues for now it's working pretty well ... For now
Fair review! No phone is for everyone but I think the Pixel 4 XL got unfairly judged early. I'm really enjoying mine and I own/owned the iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung S10+ and Note 10+. It's hard to explain how good the software experience is for me. It's so fluid I can't even load a 3rd party launcher because it ruins the feel for me.
I use motion sense all the time in the car when I can't grab the phone and want to skip songs but that's about it. Excited about future possibilities of the technology though
Great vid. Still digging my Pixel 4 (non xl).. battery life is fine.. lasts me the day barely with regular use and 90hz set to always on. It sits on my desk most of the day so being away from a charger isn't typical. If I was going to a park or somewhere I wouldn't be around a charger for more than 8 hours I'd definitely bring my 5000mah battery bank which is smaller than the phone. What sold me was form factor and the 90hz screen.. absolutely no other options at this time with that combo. I had a 6t before this and it feels like a beast now when I pick it up, pixel4 is much more comfortable carrying/pocketing day to day IMO.
No complaints with my Pixel 4XL. Easily lasts a day and in fact unusually charge wirelessly to about 80 % once a day. Software is smooth and easy to navigate. Camera is the best I've used.
I have the Pixel 4, the face unlock and the hand swipe to skip songs that's a god send when I'm a trucker, I don't have to grab the phone to skip songs and can focus on everything around me.
I've liked motion sense so far. When I got the phone I thought I'd never use it but when I'm driving or my phone is on a wireless charger it has been pretty useful
I would have liked an ultra wide camera ..but when lg introduced it couple years back and reviewers acknowledged how great it was ..why was there no backlash thats Samsung and apple didn't have it? All of a sudden the pixel lacks it and now it's a deal breaker. I don't understand the inconsistency
It's not "all of a sudden", Google had years to implement a wide angle lens into their phones, and, until this day, Google is the only big player who is lacking it.
@@红丝绒精 you are making my point .. lg had it for years before Samsung implemented it, now it's a requirement. Were you upset 2 years ago when neither Samsung or apple had it ?
By "smaller", do you simply mean "less wide"? I remember that Sony came out with some ultra narrow phone a couple of months ago... Bu yeah, I concur with you on that point. Some of those smartphones are difficult to hold in your hand and prone to be dropped if you have smaller hands.
I meant still 16:9 aspect ratio but like 12 cm (around 5 inches) in height max. Don't have to be fast and can be bulky but smaller in footprint which can show me gps messenger, e-mails and google calendar and that's all. :D
Hey Eber! Loved the vid but that wallpaper in the thumbnail caught my eye. It would be really helpful if u provide me the download link for that wallpaper :)
Pixel is a great software experience with the feeling of being different in the huge array of Samsungs iPhones and Xiaomis. - from a happy owner of a non-XL Pixel 2.
I love what you said about motion sense features being negative. My main concern is the fact that I'm living in China right now which renders google useless... and the battery life, so I'm hoping if I get this phone and have some of the "highest-tech" features disabled (such as motion sense, if it's not working, for example) it will improve the life!
Have always been an Android user since Android 1.1. My last one was the Pixel 2 XL, and due mostly to battery performance switched to an iPhone 11. Had some issues at the beginning, but friends and Google search made the transition not that bad. Only hope Apple grow some backbone and allows apps to bypass hotspot limitation imposed by carriers. That’s the only thing I keep my Pixel around and that may come back if Google get their devices build correctly.
I just picked up the 4xl for 599.00 bucks. Now, for me it's worth the price. Happy I waited. I forced the 90hz display & I'm getting a solid 6hrs, not too bad. This compliments my S10+ so know I have the two best of the android world. Very good review. Oh, forgot the 📷's, still great. Have a 🌟 🌃?
The majority of the tech RUclipsrs have become tech snobs, obsessed with specs. Although overpriced the Pixel 4 XL is a phone for ordinary users. Ordinary users couldn’t care less about: The latest and greatest specs Screen-to-body ratio 4K video Selfie video Reverse wireless charging Refresh rate Ultra wide angle lens I just bought a Pixel 4 XL to see whether all the slagging off was justified. To my surprise I love using it so much that it has replaced my iPhone 11 Pro Max. For an ordinary user the battery life is fine - I’ve never ended a day with less than 60%. My advice to non tech-heads for any phone is take note of reviews but try it for yourself before making any judgement.
howieb2001 I feel like that though these tech RUclipsrs are very helpful, they don't necessarily represent what the average consumer wants. The pixel 4 looks extremely user friendly to me this very "average consumer" friendly.
Never knew this was the "most hated phone of the year"? I upgraded from 2xl and purchased a pixel4 and love this phone. Screen is amazing, speed is plenty fast for me. And battery life... I get a whole day out of my phone. I wireless charge, and fast wireless charge with their wireless charger. It has a pure OS, ...tired of followers RUclips tech reviewers.
@@mfmjr4 details like what? Screen size is very important, 4k video is very important, camera lenses are very important, and refresh rate is always a good thing...
Thank you! My pixel 3xl just started randomly shutting down. I get to the very last troubleshooting step and can't actually use the phone in safe mode for a week. This video made the inevitable decision a little less painless.
Been using the Pixel 4xl since Black Friday. Easily the best phone ive ever used. It's the smoothest, fastest, purest, and smartest phone is I've owned. Love this phone. Extremely pleased with my purchase. I honestly don't have any complaints. Even the battery life is great for me. Went to Disney today, got there around noon. I used my phone for all the not all things, text, call, surf web, etc. I even played Pokemon Go all day. I just got home (12:13am) and I am at 47%. Good shit 👍
I ordered the orange Pixel 4 XL day one. With that, I received a $100 promo, that I got a week before black friday. I used it black friday, and bought the Google Nest Hub Max. It was on sale with $30 off, + my $100 promo, and got it for $99 before tax. Buying the Pixel 4 XL day one, I probably lost $100 in total. It sucks losing money at all, but I ain't mad. The Pixel line has been a solid phone for my needs. I've owned every model so far. I'm probably going to hold off for the Pixel 6 XL. Because I'm pretty happy with the 4 XL. I get, that its not for everyone. Some people want that wide angle camera, bigger battery, brighter screen. None of those have been a bummer for me, since I bought it..
At the end is what you enjoy. So congrats, you enjoy your phone and it fits your needs Based on my experience, I didn't think I need wide angle, more battery and more internal storage, but I decided to go with Xiaomi 9T and I loved this phone. At the end I get used to MIUI and the camera works, plus I add Google camera, so in some situations I use default camera, others GCAM. I would try to go back to Pixel line up, but it would be difficult
I scored a Pixel 4XL 64GB for $300 brand new. So for me and at this price point. I have been blown away. The camera is amazing and I am actually digging the hardware side of this phone as much as the software side. I think Google will keep improving on the hardware side they did just buy HTC just give them time.
Nah, we needed a sponsorship to pimp the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 for that. 😜 But TBH, part of the old title made it into the new one. Its been corrected. ;)
NAXE I only drank it for a week since I live in Dubai and they aren’t available there I was in love with it, great flavors and I definitely recommend mixing them up, hope to get a fresh patch soon
Fast charging doesn't matter. What matters is the battery care on the long term, as majority of people charge their smartphones overnight. So far only Sony Xperia phones have a feature to schedule (or the software learns that automatically) when the battery will get fully charged. Before, it charges till 90%, and then it waits till a bit before you plug it out, and charges the phone to 100%. Genius!
All of the issues you talked about have been fixed. The 4XL is a great phone. RUclipsrs just don't know what they're talking about. It took only about a month to fix the variable refresh rate issue. Forcing it to 90 hz constantly is just not a smart move since most of the time, you don't need 90 Hz anyway. Motion sense is not a gimmick, I take advantage of the feature all the time because you don't need to have your music player or the music player widget on your screen to skip tracks. You could be texting or browsing the web and skip to the best track without having to go back to your music player.
Motion sense is an amazing feature that's only gonna get better. If you drive a lot it's perfect because you just dock your phone and can change your songs without touching your phone which is super dangerous & illegal.
I love my Pixel 4 XL. I don't mind not having a wide angle lens. Who needs 4k 60 fps..? Battery life is great the way I use it. I use it a lot for the social media accounts I manage and the pictures are better than anything else out there. I upgraded from the Pixel 2 XL and it's just amazing. It might not be for everyone but I know Pixels and if you've had one before you won't be disappointed. I'm sure with the monthly updates that roll out it's only going to get better.
Super happy with my 4XL. Fast and smooth, no extra bloat trash, great pictures. I got it 200 off so no problem with price. I almost didn't get it, listening to the early reviews. But at the same time, they saved me money as it made me pause until the Black Friday sales. I still can't stop messing with it. And it lasts me a day and a half on a charge if I'm not playing games hours at a time. I don't know.. I don't see why anyone would still be bashing it at current prices. The original price was high imo.
I'm Canadian as well and for me, the phone is 1300 bucks. I had the 3 XL before this and it started having wifi problems. I went to restart the device and it began glitching out and freezing. I got the 4 xl and I hope it will work great until I pay it off. I have faith that Google will fix a lot of the pressing issues. So far, I like the 4 XL. It isn't perfect (no device is) but I expect a lot better software performance if I am paying 100 bucks a month for this phone. And I love Google more than any other phone company.
I switched from a iPhone 6 to a pixel 4 mat black 64 gb and this thing is lovely..I LOVE IT..it's super fast and the 17 watt power brick it comes with is fast..with Spotify premium I could just skip songs with no problem..AMAZING PICS BETTER THAN IPHONE 11 PRO..TRUST ME I HAVE FRIEDS WITH IT AND I HAVE COMPARED
4:19 Yeah, but the iPhone also has a 3 year old fast charging technology, beginning with iPhone 8, 8 Plus & X .....and they made you pay for it (except in 2019 iPhone Pro models).
I currently own a Huawei p30 pro. Before I bought it I checked out all the videos etc. Literally everyone would complain about the low quality of the video capabilities.. yet I haven't ever found it to be an issue. Infact I'd rate it higher than a lot of the other flagships of the same age.. so...... I will happily take my chances again here lol.
I personally think the phone is a well crafted device. I totally get the Google vibe with this phone. The phone has not slown down at all!! I love the Transcribing feature. Its just simple and really nifty!!
As someone who has a Pixel 2 and hasn't seen the Pixel 3, I'm disappointed to find out that they no longer have two frontfacing speakers. That was initially something that drew me into the Pixel phones.
MotionSense is still young. Google said they want people to get the basics first that's why it doesn't do much yet. It will mature as time goes by and we might even see it on other Google products soon.
I think the main issue with the slower charging compared to other brands is that Google still uses the universal standard of USB-PD while others have proprietary methods of quick charging. With that noted, they could have included USB-PD 3.0 instead of the slower 2.0 which is on the phone.
Ok, more or less agree. I liked the idea of the P4xl, but at $999 (for comparable to my P3xl) just not worth the upgrade from the P3xl to me, even with Dual Connect that they had announced, which aside from the camera was the only meaningful upgrade. Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving and they put the Pixel 4s for Fi members (new and existing) to 50% off (really a 50% credit after 60 days active). And they gave a fair trade in on my P3xl. Now, for someone that drives a lot and uses Android Auto, the Dual Connect is great, it just works.
I have the 4XL and a Note 10 plus. I use the 4XL more and everytime I use the Note 10 plus and have to take photo I end up wishing I had taken it with the pixel. Like you said the software and cameras keep me holding onto it.
I ended up getting the Pixel 4 XL for $610 on Boxing Day and my phone company gave me almost $200 credit for my old beat up Pixel 2 XL which I also put toward the 4 XL , So by the time I walked out of the store I only ended up spending a little over $400 for my Pixel 4 XL , I also got a cellphone plan change which put my bill down by $30 a month and gave me more data...I am pretty happy with the the deal I got and the phone it's self.
I will share my opinion on the specs for this phone right now. Sure, it's not top of the line in that regard, sure, it lacks a wide angle lens on the camera, but you know what? I make the argument that it doesn't NEED them. The software experience makes my Pixel 4 XL feel like it actually is a proper flagship phone WITH the latest hardware. And I upgraded from an LG G7 ThinQ to this phone. Specswise...that was a sidegrade. But in terms of the user experience? I went from having the worst phone I've ever had (including my iPhone 6s I had) to the best phone that I've ever purchased, and one that I won't be upgrading from unless the next Pixel is worth an upgrade to. The camera? The G7 had a wide angle camera. I never found myself in a position where I felt that I had to use it that couldn't be done by the regular camera, so I'm personally fine with it. All in all, I think Google did a fantasic job with this phone. They found a way to bring the flagship performance that one demands from a phone without the flagship price. In my opinion, it competes and excels past (in terms of the user experience) ANYTHING offered by Samsung and any other company, with perhaps the only exception being OnePlus, whom I can't speak on as I have Sprint, and they didn't have that phone at the time when I was ready to upgrade, and I wasn't about to spend over $1000 overall for a 5G phone when I wasn't going to be using the 5G that was why the phone was priced so high. I love my Pixel, and will be remaining with a Pixel for the forseeable future. One I can't see changing.
I have the small Pixel 4 and i'm happy with it. Battery could be better but easily lasts me a day and i'm quite a heavy user and thats with 90hz enabled. Main disappointment for me is having to use passwords or pins in apps I would usually unlock with my fingerprint as they haven't updated to the new APIs yet.
Its ok about Google Pixel 4/4 XL. Even though the price is legit, no ultra view camera, motion sense or others, the company always keep up, never give up, keep moving forward.
I agree with everything you said about the Pixel 4 XL. My friend has the Pixel 4 and he hates it (especially after Google dropped the price so quickly. Don't preorder Pixels), but his biggest issue is battery life which is sort of rectified with a Pixel 4 XL. It's not a perfect phone and it's super expensive for what you get, but it's a solid smart phone if you can find a great deal for it. I'd rather get a OnePlus 7T because it's an overall better phone (aside from the camera, wireless charging, and software updates) and it's cheaper. You get a better processor, better storage (and quicker read/write speeds with UFS 3.0), faster charging, a better display, and so more compared to a Pixel 4. Android software updates are probably the quickest after the Pixel line. Google did drop the ball with the Pixel 4 line, but hopefully they improve from these mistakes with newer iterations. You buy a Pixel for the superior software, but the hardware issues have really been a let down for this generation. I also used to install a 3rd party launcher on my Samsung flagships, but One UI 2.0 with Android 10 has changed my mind. Samsung's UI has come a long way since TouchWiz.
Just got a Pixel 4 after the $300 discount. Great review and if Google decided to make haedware and push the "Made By Google" then they're a hardware company too. The P4 will be a secondary phone next to my main iPhone 11pro max.
I honestly don't know what phones most of the RUclips critics have been testing, but it is my favorite phone ever. Who cares if no wide angle. If I want one just use pano. Telephoto is a beast which I use much more often up to 8x. Call screening FTW. Google assistant 2.0 is awesome. Screen is the smoothest ever (last phone Note 9). Astrophotography is like super awesome. Best camera, best UI, best of almost everything (not a gaming beast, but neither am I). Battery just keeps going, as good as my note 9.
Reeeeaally waiting for the 4a with that Night Sight and Astrophotography for 399. And I don't care that it's not gonna have the 90hrz display, I just want that camera. Even more so after hearing that 4 isn't as fast as other flagships, iiuc. Good to know.
Yassir Ghanim I was looking for the 4 to be a one-handed Hercules. At least the Pixel 4XL made it through. Hopefully Google will fix this in their 5 series next year.
@@MatthewMoscotto I had high hopes for the 4 as well because I was hoping to go small for easy 1 hand use but I had to return n get the XL and I love it minus the size
4XL, turned off 90 hz, turned off motion sense so battery life is awesome (especially coming from a pixel one) camera is AMAZING. I was in the city and trolled iPhone and Samsung users by taking side by side photos of what they were shooting and they were amazed how much better my pictures came out. I miss the fingerprint scanner, it was great for banking apps and when driving and stuck in unexpected traffic and you want to use it as a gps you can't turn it on and off quickly with a fingerprint and I don't want to put the phone in front of my face when driving to unlock it. Got around that by allowing my smart watch to unlock my phone (really wish a pixel watch came out this year). The other time it's annoying is at night. My smartwatch tracks my sleep so it's silenced and can't unlock the phone. The face recognition unlock doesn't work at night because I wear a CPAP. I either have to use my home WiFi to automatically keep my phone unlocked or take my CPAP off or type in a password to open the phone if I need to jot something down on my phone late at night or early in the morning (I get a lot of great ideas while dreaming). But the camera is awesome. Night shots are great. If I had to do it over I'd make the same purchase, but if you want to save some $$$ and want a pixel experience I'd recommend the pixel 3A. But if you want the best camera on a smartphone for photos the 4 is the way to go.
Nice job 👍... Pixel 4 XL looks like a decent phone with deficits compared to other flagships... storage, battery life, charging tech, Ram , video quality, missing wide angle lens, built quality after watching jerry-rig everything. As a Pixel 3 a user I wanted to upgrade but just not there. Of course if you own a Pixel 4 xl you're going to love after spending all that money but objectively there's better phones.
I have the iPhone 11 max and have to admit I rarely ever use the ultra wide camera lens, mainly because there are few occasions I need it and the fact the photos look terrible. What I like about the pixel 4 is the option to decide when and where to use the night photo mode. In comparison it annoys me how the iPhone controls when you can use night vision, and always switches it off when you zoom to x2 and beyond.
Sorry guys, didn't catch that part of the old title made it into the final output. Our fault, its been corrected. :) :)

Sell it and get a Mate 30 Pro
One fun thing about the motion sense. Yes it seems kind of gimmiky, but everyone loves how fast the face unlock is. Isn't that one of the things that makes it so fast? That it's on before you grab it and ready to look for your face.
Honestly when I'm bored I play with that feature. Ill just lay my phone down and keep reaching for it just to see the screen turn on
Fast but not secure
Malcolm Gent Yes it is secure what are you talking about?

As for charging, I think my old Samsung S8 charges faster than the pixel 4XL so I'm not 100% sure if the pixel has the latest quick charging capabilities? Or the bigger battery naturally makes it charge longer. That's the only thing that annoys me with the phone at the moment.

Exactly. These so call tech RUclipsrs think they speak for everyone. The pixel is a good phone.
Have you used it before?
Hahahahahahahaha 😂😂😂

Me neither. I decide if I want to talk to someone. That's not negative. That's great actually 🙂
don't know if it was plain weird or just dumb
What he said was pretty dumb and short sighted.
his argument was " a negative thing " cause it made no sense.
I'm not even a fan of the P4 but it was a stretch indeed. He conflated using motion sense for predominantly "negative" (subjective) things makes it an actual negative feature. Wacktastic.

Bruh most of the time it's just because of old batteries. My LG v20 with custom Rom and New batteries every year was still packing a punch
One plus also never slows down
And in recent years iphones have shown an exception by getting faster
OnePlus doesn't slow down either that much. And tbh every phone slows down, it doesn't matter what they do with their software they'll slow down eventually. Some slows down a little, some a lot.
Really cool how you had MKBHD in your video and didn't use it as click-bait in your title
Mines too don't know what the fuss is about love my 4xl
I have used motion sense a lot and I hope they don't ignore it. I really hope they go further with it in the future. I also found that it probably would have worked better if they taught people how to use it better. I found that the motion that I see reviewers make with their hands doesn't work often. And it's dumb, because that's what the animation shows. However I found doing a bit more of a flick motion works 99 percent of the time. Sure I've had a few accidental track skips, but that's more of "just push the phone slightly further away from what I'm doing with my hands". Love my pixel 4 xl so far :)
Just wanted to sat that I was really impressed with the quality of both your presentation and the review itself! VERY professional!
Most other devices get worse.
so your saying all other devices will get worse , but only pixels will get better ...... really 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I get your point. The pixel phones age better than most other flagships. The software experience is everything about this phone but they could really have done better with the pricing.

Bruhhhh LOVE your long term reviews. Keep rocking them!
Watching this with my lovely Pixel 3 🥰

Anyone else notice the MKBHD type facial expressions he has? Great video man!
I use voice and/or Bluetooth headset instead, much easier.
I've liked motion sense so far. When I got the phone I thought I'd never use it but when I'm driving or my phone is on a wireless charger it has been pretty useful
Nice review, very beautiful photos.. or maybe it's just the pixel !! 😊
Precedent, I guess.

Wish they made a really small version of any smart mobile. Even the "small" ones usually too big for my taste.
Sony compact series is usually small enough. About 4+ inches wide

Have always been an Android user since Android 1.1. My last one was the Pixel 2 XL, and due mostly to battery performance switched to an iPhone 11. @@jkshar2005 pixel 4 and 4xl are not worthy bro. Go for iPhone 11 pro. This time apple killed it.
@@thanosalmighty7353 the 4xl is actually really good but 💀
@@samstrc boring design and pathetic battery life and they didn't improve video quality and microphone problems. No 90hz display either.
@@samstrc No really... too expensive for what it offers.
I scored a Pixel 4XL 64GB for $300 brand new. So for me and at this price point. I have been blown away. The camera is amazing and I am actually digging the hardware side of this phone as much as the software side. I think Google will keep improving on the hardware side they did just buy HTC just give them time.
Cant wait for the “a false user review” !
Nah, we needed a sponsorship to pimp the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 for that. 😜 But TBH, part of the old title made it into the new one. Its been corrected. ;)

You should get in touch with nau_ drinks ... heard they been catching quite the fame lately
@@Fl0yd- I drank their stuff for 1-2 months (every day) this summer. Would love to hear your thoughts on it (Y)
NAXE
I only drank it for a week since I live in Dubai and they aren’t available there
I was in love with it, great flavors and I definitely recommend mixing them up, hope to get a fresh patch soon
Hey how's your battery average SOT, and is the battery better than P4XL and by how much?
I had planned on avoiding this phone, but you can get it from T-Mobile for $499. Half off, and with S20 starting at $999 this seemed worth a shot.
I avoided it too until now. I always felt it was overpriced for what it offered. For $500 though, I couldn't resist. I just ordered it from T-Mobile.
How is portrait mode if compared with iPhone 11 pro?
@@Mandeepsinghmakker pixel is much nicer..personal preference but I like pixels and iPhone has more options tho
4:19 Yeah, but the iPhone also has a 3 year old fast charging technology, beginning with iPhone 8, 8 Plus & X .....and they made you pay for it (except in 2019 iPhone Pro models).
And they started including it only on iPhone 11 pro
Fantastic in-depth review!
Essentially, "maybe" and "maybe not" means the same.
They're neutral biased
What are your thoughts on upgrading from a pixel 3xl to 4xl? Is it worth it? Or should i wait til 5xl
It would be great if OnePlus was the designer of the Google Pixel hardware, that would make the Pixel almost perfect.
Great review! What brand glasses are you wearing??
A call with marques whoaaaaa!!!😍😍😍
Using a Pixel 4XL right now and love it. Also I use motion sense while I'm doing paperwork and phone is sitting on my desk!
You are killing me by showing this over and over and over mr.googlw
Most underrated phone in 2019, beat phone I ever had
Yassir Ghanim battery life is atrocious
@@MatthewMoscotto on the 4 yes but the 4 XL is solid
Yassir Ghanim I was looking for the 4 to be a one-handed Hercules. At least the Pixel 4XL made it through. Hopefully Google will fix this in their 5 series next year.
@@MatthewMoscotto I had high hopes for the 4 as well because I was hoping to go small for easy 1 hand use but I had to return n get the XL and I love it minus the size
I think its overrated for what it is.
What is that amazing mountain wallpaper?
Nice job 👍... Pixel 4 XL looks like a decent phone with deficits compared to other flagships... storage, battery life, charging tech, Ram , video quality, missing wide angle lens, built quality after watching jerry-rig everything. As a Pixel 3 a user I wanted to upgrade but just not there. Of course if you own a Pixel 4 xl you're going to love after spending all that money but objectively there's better phones.
What a great and thorough review!
Got my Pixel 4XL for $599. Best smartphone deal for the price ever. Nothing beats it
👍
I have the iPhone 11 max and have to admit I rarely ever use the ultra wide camera lens, mainly because there are few occasions I need it and the fact the photos look terrible. What I like about the pixel 4 is the option to decide when and where to use the night photo mode. In comparison it annoys me how the iPhone controls when you can use night vision, and always switches it off when you zoom to x2 and beyond.
I have a S10+ but I'm such a Google fan that I kinda wanna get this one
The motion sense thing is something I can see eventually being cool, but right now it really isn't worth the hardware that needs to be included.
