I have a graphic design and logo I made for a small transportation company that I would love to get feedback on. Is there any way to have that happen?
@@jasonjanssens2503 you can post it on Reddit (link in description) or get in touch about a consultation!
You can type in "+180" or "-180" to input field and PS /AI/other will do the math for you.
No need for calculator.
what is your font
Although I have a degree in Graphic Design, I appreciate videos such as this so much for upping my game and finding little tricks to assisting my design work so much.
🤟🏼
I totally agree. Can't say I learnt these doing my degree👍. Thanks#sharing
Same...I have learned so many more useful hacks on social media and RUclips than I did in school 🥲
Same here, a degree and searching for those hacks to make life faster. :)
Hey can you please let me know the key things you can confidently say that can only be learned to a degree.
0:25 Not sure if you know. You can do the calculations within illustrator instead of opening the calculator. Just use the symbols and do the calculations in the type space
Even more design tips here! ruclips.net/video/BTPDRVWTDF8/видео.html
0:55 But doesn't that give us a rectangle in a ratio of exactly 2:3? The Golden Ratio is roughly 1:1.6, or 2:3.2, so the rectangle should be a little "longer". Right?
Just totally blown away Will. Thank you so much. Best 10 minutes I've spent in ages. Awesome job and excellent tips. Great delivery and production!
This means a lot. Thank you :)
I'm 17 & I want to be a Graphic Designer, You're a great mentor. Inspiring.⭐

@@willpatersondesign sir please guide how to start I am interested a lot in gd but how to start?? Like basic theory

Holy crud batman! Where was this when I was in school. Thanks so much for this now!
Brilliant video thank you so much Will
Oh wow! Thank you for sharing
that's amazing, thanks Will
For the first hack, you can actually input simple equations in the number bar instead of having to open up the calculator app and computing the result.
e.g. adding "+180" to 76 and pressing enter will show the sum of the two.
Came to say this. Using this trick saves me a crap-ton of time for all sorts of adjustments in adobe software.
You can actually do all kinds of calculations. plus (+10), minus (-10), divide (/10), multiply (*10).
Often, you amaze me with your stuff, thanks so much. Recently, I've joined you, and I'm waiting for your next video.
Welcome aboard!
Cool! Thanks, Man!

THAT FIRST TIP IS THE SINGLE MOST HELPFUL TIP IVE EVER HEARD
Waoohhh, just the first thack blows my mind🤯🤯
Great tips.
Thanks!
On tip #3:
The kerning of a professional typeface is set by the designer and these settings will apply when you choose "Metrics". Using "Optical", the kerning will be automatically adjusted by Adobe, wich isn't always better.
So I would recommend: For professional fonts, make the font designers happy and choose "Metrics" as they intended. Any other free or badly kerned font, you may be better off using "Optical". Some manual kerning might be needed either way.
Yes. Plus optical kerning take more machine ressources. In Photoshop, that's so so, but with longer texts in InDesign, it shows quickly.
Thanks! this was super
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great video! I love how you packed so many useful design hacks into just 10 minutes. I especially appreciate the tip about "Logo package express 3". How can I get it in my illustrator?
Keep up the great work!
Logo package is an app linked in the description :)
HEY PATERSON! Hello from Brazil!
Lovely
GOLD
There's even a simpler way to achieve tip #1, just select the object you want to turn into the complimentary color, go to color window and click on the three lines there, click on complement and that's it!
you can also just do the equation in the input box
Very useful tips 🔥❤
Thanks 🔥
Hey Will, could you do a tutorial on how you made that Artificial Intelligence poster? It's amazing!
I will :)
0:41 doesn't give you a golden rectangle. It gives you a Fibonacci rectangle. Fibonacci's ratio ever so slightly approaches the golden ratio at some points, but never exactly matches it. For a golden rectangle I just do one side of the square times 1.61804 and it's pretty good for very precise software oriented golden ratio. The more decimals the better tho.
you look gorgeous with the beard don't lose it!
Hello. I saw your grids. Is there a way to explain how they line up. I want to learn ways to use a grid. Visually I couldn’t tell where u lined up the text to the grid. I even did a screen shot. Thanks
Wow its really helpfull
Glad it helped
Wow super helpful hacks ... Thank you 👍. Where can i find Midjourney bot ... Can i get a link
I could sure use the New Guide Layout in Illustrator at work but it's not showing up in View/Guides. Using Illustrator 2023 v27.1.1. As always, Brilliant vid, thank you!!
amzinggggggggggggggggggggg
Great video- I didn’t know about the export package what a neat thing- i hope its not expensive. Our money os so weak against the dollar. Its almost 20 times as weak

outstanding. could you please, do the same for corel draw users? same tips! have a nice day.
wow
What is the model of you keyboard ?
What software did you use? Illustrator or Photoshop?
best 10 minutes
Hey will, Can you make a video how to make workflow faster? For example finder files etc
I will :)
To be fair, i'm trying the complementary color thing by changing the H section and it worked three times and the fourth was really odd
Hello, I stumbled upon this video and it is really helpful, but I have a quetion: If my colour has a, let's say 171° HUE, what to do to find the complementary? Simply 171 - 180? It will always be 0°? Thank you in advance.
Hi Gustavo, If it's below 180 u should add 180, making 351!
@@pinkblanket But it only goes to 255 max.
I have been doing graphic design for 30 years and learned a bunch. I already knew about the AI stuff but the hacks for great. Thanks!
Great to hear! 🤟🏼🤟🏼
The golden rectangle you draw is not exactly "golden" is a 3x2 rectangle, it is near Golden, but to make one like the one you did, just entrer those proportions and you are done.
💥
the color hack is what im having on the menu
Been using illustrator for over four years and I never knew half the things in this video🤯
I'm glad the video was helpful! :D
