Would the Yankees do something nuts, like grab Alonso or Vladdy for 1st base? I’m on the west coast, so it’s hard for me to understand what’s possible for NY…. But the idea of Alonso in pinstripes is tantalizing… does NY have the dough for another rental, or are they saving up for Soto long term?

Did I hear you correctly that you said Holmes is one of the best closers in baseball. Are you crazy? I don’t know how old you are but he reminds me of John Wentland on the New York Yankees in 1996 even though they won the World Series be an OK set up man, the man got lucky but he’s no closer! 💪💪
So you're saying Holmes isn't a good closer and he reminds you of John Wetteland in 96? But in 96, Wetteland was one of the best closers in baseball, led the league in saves and had a great ERA then went on to win WS MVP.
With Soto and Judge, you just need enough pieces around them who dont suck. Could Cashman go all in and get Vladdy Jr? Sure. But if that's the move, you HAVE to win the WS. Get a LF who doesnt suck. Get a 3b who doesnt suck. Maybe healthy Rizzo gives you enough on a platoon with JD Davis. Banish Torres to the shadow realm and get someone who just isn't a negative there and Soto and Judge will carry them to the post-season

The infield has been awful Gleyber Torres getting caught stealing was unacceptable,DJ LaMehieu has really regressed and Oswaldo Cabrera isn’t a superstar! Freak athlete? He isnt hitting a lot of hrs this season and his strikeout rate is too high . And ge got milb of the week because of 2 or 3 games . Hardly makes him untouchable
Clay Holmes is no longer the dominant closer he was at the beginning of the year. He not even reliable, as hečcurrently a liability. I don't feel safe and confident w/him in the closer role for us. And this whole 4-9 being automatic outs is way off the mark.

Yes, very inconsistent offense but right now our starting pitching and bullpen is biggest concern ! Cannot win consistently without good pitching!

Vladdy has said he does not want to come to New York, as for Alonso wouldn’t be surprised if he signs

Verdugo doesn't suck though. He has slumped for a couple weeks, but he's been a valuable member of the team.
