The last two cats I had (way back as a teenager), were named similarly after seasonings. I had a calico whom I named Spicy, but only because she looked like multiple spices, and while she was mostly sweet, she did have difficulty initially adjusting to the new but slightly older cat, Sugar. Sugar was at least part Siamese, given she had the tan/dark brown markings of one and the blue eyes. The tan was on a large spot on her back and I think the tips of her front paws. Her ear tips and the end of her tail were dark brown. Everywhere else was white. She was a beautiful cat (I know "parents" aren't supposed to pick a favorite child or anything, but Sugar was very gorgeous and I swear she knew it. I feel bad admitting that as Spicy was my birthday present 😅. Her fur was also way softer than Spicy's, but she was not a longhair). Sugar was very laid back though, and when hissed at by Spicy, she didn't react...initially. As she drank from Spicy's waterbowl though and was being confronted, Sugar at last let out one good hiss at Spicy, and she shut up 😂. The two were raising hell with crashing all over the place in a game of tag by that evening, already best friends.
I only cleaned one cat once. My family's cat, who had been in a small fight and was covered in mud, oily water, and grime. Put on my workman's gloves and held him down to shower him. He was not a fan and did bite a few times and scratched a bit, but when he realised there was no escaping the shower until it was done... He just kind of curled up in a corner and kept meowing in resentment until I was done, just accepting his suffering. Then he wanted to snuggle when he was dry.
Salt looked like he enjoyed the brushing at the end. He was giving you the slow blink "eye kisses", so it looks like he finally realized you were doing something positive for him.
It's cute, yes, but I doubt he has that level of understanding. It's more likely he just enjoyed how it felt, as some brushes can feel like a cat's tongue on another cat, and they do groom each other sometimes.

I think Pepper may be the first cat that I’m convinced was truly afraid of the process. Those little chirps and squeaks spoke to anxiety; the hissing and scratching seemed less aggression and more desperation! 🙀😿
Cats actually don’t hiss out of aggression it is a warning that they are uncomfortable and asking to back off, it is defensive. Considering everything that was done to the kitty of course they would be scared, and biting or scratching and hissing are all in defense of what they perceive as danger, they don’t know what’s happening.
Some long haired cats just dont have loud meows. My two sibling cats have different meows. The short hair did the typical cries at the vet while the long hair only a whisper
Oh my gosh! Pepper looked so pathetic when all wet!! And about 1/4 size too. I love the lion look! Thanks for the giggles and tugs on my heart strings. ❤️❤️
My parents have a cat that looks just like Salt, except with blue eyes. In his old age he's gone entirely deaf, but he can sense vibrations enough to know when his favorite can of food is being opened.
That is both impressive your parent's cat has compensated with his other senses AND knows specofically when his cat food tin is being opened, but then again, kitties love food so he/she found a way to know when it's feeding time. @@ruthholmes9299 You think grooming them is cruel? We have bred cats like Ragdolls, Persians, and others to have such huge coats that they literally can't take care of them without human help. (I say this sitting next to a pair of Samoyeds who get full baths, blow-dries, and brush outs monthly from a professional groomer, plus regular brushing at home in order to keep their coats maintained as they should be.) Vanessa says in the video that Pepper is being shaved because he is matted, and forcing a cat to sit there for an hour or more as you try to brush out/break up the matting is NOT going to happen. Most cats will not put up with you bothering them and pulling at their fur for that long. (That's why Vanessa has kitty timers.) So personally, I believe shaving should only be done on fur that's too matted to save, (or for medical reasons,) and Vanessa regularly says the same, I trust her judgment on choosing to shave Pepper for his comfort over everything else. And I'm sure she talked to his owners about keeping him brushed while his coat grows back so he doesn't have to be shaved again. The one and only time I let a so-called "professional" groomer give my long-haired cat a lion cut, I regretted it for the rest of the cat's life. That horrid groomer admitted that she used a dull blade because she just didn't feel like changing to a sharp one, and she sliced huge swaths of skin off my cat (and nearly took some parts of my cat's delicate anatomy too.) I always love the shots of cats in the rage cage! Pepper's face all scrunched up from the happy hoodie, and salt pressed into the corner are A+ content 😂
Watching Salt give a slow blink at you at the end was cool, he must have realized how much the groom felt nice at the end. And now his skin probably feels nicer too. Cats are smart.
Pepper is a squeaker! I have one like that. She make no sounds at all unless she's begging or annoyed. Then she makes tiny squeak noises just like Pepper! I really enjoy when you groom the cats. They bring a lot of amusing personality to the groom!
My parents' cat only squeaks. I think I've heard him mew once or twice, but never a true meow. He's pretty quiet, doesn't talk much. One time I was staying the night at their house, and I was watching TV after my parents had both gone to bed. In the next room, I heard a weird squeaky noise that I couldn't identify... looked in and it was Charlie running around and playing and squeaking away. When he noticed me watching him, he froze like he had been caught. I guess I was interrupting his me time 🤷
I have two cats (sisters) where one is exactly the same. Yang will make no noise except high pitch squeaks when she doesn't like something or is really really in the mood for attention. Yin however does nothing but scream for anything, everything and nothing at all. They're both a delight but so wildly different, hence the names haha.
the space helmet muzzle! i have to get many of those! my cats could have a bath every day and still be NOOOOOO! they play with water, they lay in water, but call it "bath" and they declare W A R !

Both are lovely. I liked salt's quiet protest asking you to stop with his paw. Pepper is plotting your demise . And may be planning to eat you.
I always love the shots of cats in the rage cage!
*Cat hisses*
Vennesa: So you’ve chosen BALL
That look of utter hate on Pepper's eyes at 1:48 speaks a thousand words, two of which could very well be "Heck you!!!" 😾😊😾
Or, "I am planning thy demise, thou foolish fur-stealer!"
The way his eyes flick up and down between Vanessa's face to her clipping his nails and back... he's got murder on his mind 🤣🤣
I thought he said Fluff you with his eyes 😂
You can just say "Fuck you". We're adults. A bad word isn't going to hurt us.
the space helmet muzzle! i have to get many of those! my cats could have a bath every day and still be NOOOOOO! they play with water, they lay in water, but call it "bath" and they declare W A R !
Pepper looked like little lion 🦁,outstanding haircut. Salt was a gorgeous white cat . Another great video ,thanks. 🌟
Peppers face at the end:
🤣
"No i don't wanna do any work"
salt burying his face in the corner😭😭
I noticed that! Like he gave up on life. 😭😂
“This is t happening, this isn’t happening, this isn’t happening” is how i interpreted his snowball move.
That big, ferocious cat making those tiny adorable noises ❤Such a cute murder machine
SO MUCH FLUFF
Pepper was hilarious, especially in his lion cut it matches his personality
To be fair to pepper .... I'd want to bite someone if they tried to shave my butt LOL
You do so well with the cats ! despite their feisty attitudes :)
"How are you doing in there?" Oh my goodness you are sooooooo addictive to watch and enjoy immensely. Cheers.
Those two are ADORABLE!
Also can confirm. My white cat sheds like Crazy. It never ends. And my tuxedo cats white parts shed more than the black! It’s insane.
I have a calico, and yep, her white bits shed WAY more than the black/orange bits.
Have you considered that the white fur is just more visible and easy to spot
@@diddlybop Not when you’re actively brushing them and ending up with tons more white hair.
That sad and defeated face in the rage cage and the bubble 😆😆Love your videos! Keep up the amazing work! ❤From Dave in Alaska!
I love how Pepper is spicy but makes those teeny tiny squeaks! 😂
idk what it is ,, the dry commentary, or the odd variety of my favourite pets, or a combo of the both, but i love watching these vids , thanks!
Also forgot to mention Vanessa big thank you to the Cameraman for all his hard work on filming all these awesome videos as well he always puts in a 💯 percent in helping you out with all these awesome videos.. 📸
Poor baby. His fur was so beautiful.
Pepper is channelling his inner 70s fashion self, so chic 💋 and Salt looks absolutely magnificent, like swansdown. I love seeing cats on your channel. As ever, fantastic work 👏 ❤ 🐈 😻
and I thought MY cat had tiny pipsqueak cries! 😆❤️
Beautiful cats! I feel bad for Pepper though, I think he was embarrassed with getting shaved. Especially the tushy. Poor baby.
He will sure feel better this summer.
Absolutely love your videos, the patience you have is second to none and you have such a brilliant temperament for working with animals especially the nervous ones ❤
The little paw of "no thank you" gets me every time.
salt really did his best to be a good sport
Pepper's facial expressions are soo hilarious 😂
Its lovely the way you handle dogs, but haven’t seen the same love in the way you handle cats.
I am actually pretty glad today's video was with these cats, I love your content but it has been hard for me to watch most since losing my own dog a few weeks ago. So thanks for the cat grooming video, appreciate it.
did not know ab hair splinters :/// i have sm respect for u, u r so incredibly hard working and dedicated despite this obviously being a very difficult and complex job to navigate.
Absolutely beautiful cats! I'm a dog owner but I loved watching this so much! 🤗
Pepper is so big but his meowing is so tiny 😂
Wow, what beautiful felines! I can't think of a more appropriate hairdo for Pepper than a lion cut, and Salt's pure white coat is so gorgeous.
The look of a lion, the squeaks of a cheetah. That's Pepper.
Pepper sounds like a squeaky toy. 😊
As a groomer from ancient days, I remain impressed with your knowledge and the fabulous grooming hacks and equipment. My specialty was the lesser friendly dogs. The largest being a 240lb St Bernard with an amazing growl. If I lived close by I’d bring my babies to your shop.
Pepper is a deep sea diver! And salt putting his head the corner is so adorable.
I won't lie, every time I see a cat in a happy hoodie I can't help but howl with laughter, just the way their little snoot pokes out of it (if they have one) just makes me wheeze so hard
