Thank you for taking me along on your holiday. Beautiful scenery. I really like that Moto Guzzi. Ride safe all and keep the rubber side down. Cheers from the States.
Its a great part of the world to tour around there is lots to see and in general the roads a very quite, but you are 100% right about British drivers the standard is shocking, any way enjoyed your video well done thanks for sharing
A great place to tour indeed Yes it’s very poor the standards in the UK The hold the bike test up to a high standard but let any muppet out in a car We have a long commute to work and every day we will see someone doing something utterly stupid
Great film, I've lived in France for 16 years now, the roads are pretty always nice, especially on a bike. As for Calais, its a really lovely place to visit but as you say most people zoom straight past it.
Use a different route. No delays on the other routes. Eg. Portsmouth to Caen. The tunnel. I’ve only ever experienced delays at Dover. Pre brexit as well.
We have travelled through there a great deal over the years and it’s definitely worse Traveled through Portsmouth incidentally Customs guys were total arses I have to say Forced all the bikes into a single line and it took ages, the cars could choose any line and got through much faster I was seriously pissed Also the Portsmouth route is way more expensive and we had 3 bikes I an NHS worker not landed gentry 😂 Not our first road trip into Europe by any means
@@derekp2674 that’s great but the fact is it was very early Am a time when the port used to be fine 🙄 Been through Portsmouth, not impressed by the staff at all A Holes is a phrase that springs to mind Non of which changes the fact that European travel has gotten worse
Have you thought about using the ferry from Newhaven over to Dieppe, my wife and I use it rather than going to Dover, it's easier to get to and much better, it takes four hours and if you book in advance its cheaper than Dover.
Give no date everywhere has em The problem in the UK stems from a tiny number of bikes on the road People don’t think to look And a generally aggressive attitude far too many drivers take The guy we we refer to in the video genuinely tries to mock me off twice for no apparent reason at all
@@bikerdood1100 I had a driver not look a couple of days ago; did a right turn across my bows, immediately in front of me. Fortunately, I ride defensively, so no damage done. Did gently remind her that, if she had killed me, she'd be in prison for the next 7 years... Had a fire-service guy try to knock me off the bike a few years back, also for no reason. Have to wonder what's going on in their tiny mind!
I've experienced bad drivers in France as well as Italy, its not a particularly British problem, its universal as is hold up in passport controls. In fact my Swiss friend had far more problems travelling over the Swiss border into France, than I did, as soon as they saw my passport I was waved on, but strangely not him ??????? I agree that the the Route Nationale is by far the better way to go and its free, unlike the French motorways.
Not but the same level of shite believe we have been travelling in Europe for years now and I do think UK drivers set a particular low standard Swiss of course not an EU country, incidentally passed through that border a few times ditto Dover you can’t actually tell how long it took now can you and it was early morning and previously at that time of day it’s been pretty straightforward Editing 🙄
Surprised as the last 2 years I have ridden from Switzerland to France, no border control visible and no one was being stopped to check, The customs building was there but looked to be closed.
Statistically motorcyclists are more likely to be knocked off in the the UK Per capita Although the very low numbers of bikes in Britain does play a major part because UK riders simply don’t anticipate the arrival of a bike in traffic and certainly from my experience are less likely to make room to slow you to pass Portugal has the official worst road safety record bit I found it ok really As for the Swiss border I haven’t crossed through in many years Mixed experience slow on a couple of occasions but smooth on another
Last 2 years I took the tunnel to France, early morning start and no long wait to get the ticket or passport controls, both UK and French. Longest wait was coming back on the French side where there was a long line for passport control in mid 30's temperatures in full sun. Using the Harwich ferry this year as there is not much overall cost difference considering that I no longer need an extra nights hotel cost. Not so useful if France is your destination but am heading for Germany first and coming back through Belgium.
Worst so far was the ferry to Spain on the way there they checked lots of bikes and not much else and on the way in they pushed all the bikes into one Queue It took bloody ages This year have a Very big trip but will be riding down to Italy after that
Simply put with 3 motorcycles and a limited budget Portsmouth is quite expensive. Have actually used Portsmouth on our trip to Spain and Portugal Bike friendly they were not On the way out they searched a very high number of bikes in the queue and very few cars and coming back the pushed all the bikes in a single line leaving the rest clear for cars. This resulted in a surprising long queue which took ages to clear

Totally agree
I have also live in France, for almost 21 years. Love biking and spent a week in Normandy this year. I recommend the region to my UK biking friends.

New haven Dieppe is a good option if you’re heading to Normandy.
Can be but pricey with multiple bikes

It’s a lot more expensive
Also it was very early morning a time when it was previously very different, easy and rapid
It’s not about the port
We have our share of shite drivers here in Oz, too. Northern France looks nice, so I'll be interested to see the forthcoming videos.👍
