  • In video #87, last fall I hunted in a severe leaning tree that I had to use waders to cross for access. The tree is only 18 yards from the rivers edge and is just inside a bedding area of what was large conifers that had been clear cut in the summer. The cutters left all the tops which totally stopped the deer from crossing the river where they had been.
So in this video I did alone, I cut runways through the tops and briars with an electric chainsaw and threw my cuttings to the side to create new runways through what will be a denser area of briars and trash than before.
I also cut quite a few trees and bushes along the river edge to block a big area of where the deer had been crossing the river to force them to use the runways I created and to cross within range of my tree. It took me 2 days to cut and clear the tops and briars, but I guarantee the new runways will be the main routes for deer crossing the river.

Stihl makes good products. I use their 18’ extension saw to clear shooting lanes

John, can you give a good review video of your favorite binoculars (brand and model) for hunting? Very underated topic.

John, i found an area on state land full of rubs close to the road, near private land. Would you hunt the area with the rubs or look back into the swamp near by?

You only get out of it what you put into it !!!!!
    SO TRUE.
    Nice job, John.
I knew a guy who did similar trails and would toss out an occasional corn cobb for aesthetics.
