Dude! I work as IT techsupport and when customers with selfbuilt PCs are outside of my housecall range i simply show them this video. Voilá! I should almost pay you money. Thanks dude
Just bought a pc from a buddy of mine tried to start it up first time after installing some ram in it didn’t do anything... turns out I knocked a wire loose and I had no clue what the problem was without this video. You saved someone’s life today good sir 👍
i build my first own rig a feew weeks ago and i made several of this mistakes, most noticeably, not screwing the risers, fortunatelly none of them damaged the pc or the components, i ended up noticing them and solving them on my own and now its perfect
Thank you so much! I was struggling to find out why my pc wasn’t displaying until I saw this video. I’m glad to say everything works now. Super helpful video THANK YOU
when i built my first pc i overlooked the cpu power connector and i spent three hours trying to figure out the issue and cried a lil cause i thought i broke it with static or something
Thank you so much for this video. Had an issue with a new build, all plugged in and nothing works. After watching this I figured that I had a riser that shorted the mobo...
Great video. I've always neglected to install all the motherboard riser screws. Your videos has changed my mind. It has shown me the importance of having all the screws in place. Only thing about this video that is sort of confusing is thermal paste. It just seems like it's too little to me. Overall, this is a very informative video!
I am soooo in need of this video! Gave you a like and subscribed. It took me three days to build my first PC..and all it does is start up (the lights turn on and the fans spin..) and then 5 seconds later it turns back off. It does this over and over again in an endless loop and I can not figure out what I've done wrong. Hoping this video brings some clarity to my frustrating situation...!
Man, thanks for the video. Even for those who have put together a PC many times, sometimes you just need a gentle reminder to help you step through the obvious.
Oh yeah i did the whole forgetting to put thermal paste on after removing the stock cooler and fried a cpu a few years back and i still remember that small poof of smoke out the motherboard ;(
Great video, I'm tired of trying to explain on the phone basically these same steps to people when they are building a system. I'm totally sharing this video once in a while, I hope you don't mind.
Great video for a newbie. I think the hardest part for me, is connecting the wires up, because I have big hands. Sometimes I have to use needle nose pliers in the tight spots, which I am always afraid of dropping them on the motherboard.
Hello! I built a PC today and connected the monitor to motherboard via HDMI cable..monitor is showing no signal. Should I connect the monitor to graphic card?
Thanks I've been stumped on my first build for the last day. Build error 5 was my problem. The GPU had plastic plugs covering the hdmi ports I had the cable plugged in to the motherboard and was getting no display. Thanks again!
*Soon I'll be building my 3rd PC, and as it's going to be a high end desktop computer, I watched this video just in case I forgot certain things, because I built my last PC in 2013 :)*
I am a fan of DVI, never had any issue with DVI, but with HDMI I actually had some issues in the past.. that's why I went on DVI, and its compatibility with a lot more display devices.
Thanks man. Been trying forever to turn tv on with out a monitor, just have a tv. Plugged HDMI into the main motherboard HDMI and she went post boot and into bios recovery on my Samsung tv. Now I can play from GPU.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video. I just built my first computer and my monitor was not coming on. Thanks to your video I have found the problem. Thank you.
Thanks dude, so yesterday I tried to cleaned my CPU heat sync fan (for the first time), but I removed the RAM because it was blocking the way, but when put them back on, shit started to happen and my pc did not boot up. Thanks about the tip about on how to properly position the RAM. 😊
Hey William we are Australian but don't have any commercial interest with any parties - usually where you pay slightly more for parts, you'll get much better service.
All I have to say is THANK YOU! I was going nuts on this new build, I was changing out everything and all it ended up being was I was using the wrong 8pin cable to one of the CPU's, which I never would've figured out if it wasn't for this video, outstanding!!
can i ask a question about the pc power supply..if i am traveling overseas and bringing my pc with me do you just replace the power supply that is compatible to the country or maybe just replacing the plug(only) without changing the power supply that you already have in the pc..and also how to know which power supply is the right choice..is it just by purchasing a power supply doesn't matter what brand it is or the exact same brand as the first but with same amount of watts as your first power supply or maybe anything that is near the range as the first.
If it beeps but no display it means the graphics card,my pc was beeping and what i did i removed the graphics card clean it up little bit and plug it in,it worked
Using 700watt EVGA power supply. When testing with a paperclip or the tool provided, power supply fan turns on. When plugging into motherboard, power supply fan remains off and doesnt send off power.
Yes that's what I was running with no issues. I'd get a 750w just to be on the safe side if you can afford it since PSUs are usually warrantied for 3-10 years so you'll want them to be future proof.
STATIC CHARGE BAND IS NECESSARY ? PLEASE GUIDE. ALSO CPU FAN HAS THERMAL PASTE . SHOULD WE APPLY AGAIN A THERMAL PASTE WHILE INSTALLING CPU? THANKS FOR THE USEFUL VIDEO
Thanks it helped with power not working . But before with my other build . My pc power led was green when it turns on . But now it's red ? Is that bad ?
So I have a question might be dumb but I want to know that way I can fix it now I recently built my pc with just the cpu, motherboard, gpu, and pwr supply so I’m still missing my ram and hard drive. When I turn the pc on it turns on and off and no display so did I 100 percent build it wrong or is this happening just because I haven’t gotten my ram or hard drive yet
thank you very much, your videos are always very helpful. this is my 4th build never ran into any problems. until today, could figure out what was going on. turns out I was missing 1 risor pc would not turn on at all. watch ur video had it fixed in 20 min.
Thank you so much for the awesome video, I've been having a problem with my PC. I was doing some bitcoin mining for a few days and kept my PC running day and night when it started shutting off by itself. Can this be my thermal paste that's not applied correctly and causes my CPU to overheat after long times of running? I'm really worried, I struggled keeping it on last night but its working quite today. Haven't me problems again.
These are all solid points for first timer P.C assemblers. The only one I would add would be;keep a bottle 100% iso alcohol and lint free cloth. If you accidentally touch any of the gold connectors on the P.C.I.e devices, then clean the visible finger prints off.
Ive got a fun one. Wrong bios version. Or outdated bios. Had trouble getting 7600k working with a cheap motherboard, had to use a 6600k to update the bios first and then reconnect.
One of my first PC builds - I made a mistake about risers. Somehow it was causing an intermittent short. I had to return it to the computer show where I bought the mother board from. Very embarrassing.
Dude! I work as IT techsupport and when customers with selfbuilt PCs are outside of my housecall range i simply show them this video.
Voilá!
I should almost pay you money. Thanks dude
Classic. Glad it assists!!
When I built my pc, I connected the motherboard instead of the gpu and didn't notice for 3 years. There went my unused gtx 770
I built my first pc a few months ago. It was fairly straight forward and no issues whatsoever. I enjoyed building it.
Great job mate!

I had one too many standoffs in my case. This video saved me money and hours of frustration! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video. Had an issue with a new build, all plugged in and nothing works. After watching this I figured that I had a riser that shorted the mobo...
you explain all of this well and show it well, you deserve more subs tbh.
Great video. I've always neglected to install all the motherboard riser screws. Your videos has changed my mind. It has shown me the importance of having all the screws in place. Only thing about this video that is sort of confusing is thermal paste. It just seems like it's too little to me. Overall, this is a very informative video!
a little bit of thermal paste goes a long way when you put the cpu cooler on
Nice video. A must see for new builders. Thank you!!
Thanks Steve. Much appreciated mate.

This is really good, and you talk slowly so people can follow. Many humans put up videos not to help but show of.
THIS IS DONE VERY WELL. THANK YOU.
Thankyou Cedrick - we only try to help!
Amazing what you can forget no matter how many pc's you build. Very good video. Thanks.

I'm doing a 1.9k build and I cant wait for the parts to arrive this has been a dream of mine !

Man, thanks for the video. Even for those who have put together a PC many times, sometimes you just need a gentle reminder to help you step through the obvious.
Thanks for this! Managed to troubleshoot my first build after 2 hours of headache!
Thank you for this video, I forgot to plug in my CPU power connector! After fixing that I got to the post screen! :D

Thank you for helping me find my problem. Must watch video for anyone building a computer for the first time.
Great video for a newbie. I think the hardest part for me, is connecting the wires up, because I have big hands. Sometimes I have to use needle nose pliers in the tight spots, which I am always afraid of dropping them on the motherboard.
Thanks David, yes small cases make things hard - especially the placement of the CPU power connector!
Great job on video. Clear, easy to understand and to the point.
Awesome video! Was able to solve my issues with my first pc build and now it works like it should. Thanks!
Woah,it's been like...forever haha.Your tutorial videos are appreciated,please make more :)

Hello! I built a PC today and connected the monitor to motherboard via HDMI cable..monitor is showing no signal. Should I connect the monitor to graphic card?
Ha ha, when I first built my PC I totally did not know about how the PC defaults output to the video card.
Wish I had this video then, ha ha.
Thank you very much for this video, it was a big help to build my own PC properly, without making these mistakes.

*Soon I'll be building my 3rd PC, and as it's going to be a high end desktop computer, I watched this video just in case I forgot certain things, because I built my last PC in 2013 :)*
Thanks! This was great and I just realized I didn't have my power pins aligned properly
I am a fan of DVI, never had any issue with DVI, but with HDMI I actually had some issues in the past.. that's why I went on DVI, and its compatibility with a lot more display devices.

Built my one and only PC a few years back. I had a few of these issues initially, but nothing since then.
Thanks dude, so yesterday I tried to cleaned my CPU heat sync fan (for the first time), but I removed the RAM because it was blocking the way, but when put them back on, shit started to happen and my pc did not boot up. Thanks about the tip about on how to properly position the RAM. 😊
This is really helpful as I am trying to boot my pc for the first time but no post is showing because I still don't have a gpu.
I noticed you are also Australian, do we have any good part shops? (around WA and specifically Bunbury)
Hey William we are Australian but don't have any commercial interest with any parties - usually where you pay slightly more for parts, you'll get much better service.
Dude thank you so much you helped with literally everything
All I have to say is THANK YOU! I was going nuts on this new build, I was changing out everything and all it ended up being was I was using the wrong 8pin cable to one of the CPU's, which I never would've figured out if it wasn't for this video, outstanding!!

Ash's & Rain There is usually a 110v to 220-240v switch on the back of your power supply.
THANKS DUDE! This helped a ton. God bless!
Best building videos on RUclips! My problem was only sort of related to your troubleshooting ideas but eventually I got a successful POST :)

Using 700watt EVGA power supply. When testing with a paperclip or the tool provided, power supply fan turns on. When plugging into motherboard, power supply fan remains off and doesnt send off power.
is a 650w gold psu enough for for an overclocked 6700k and an overclocked gtx 970?
Yes that's what I was running with no issues. I'd get a 750w just to be on the safe side if you can afford it since PSUs are usually warrantied for 3-10 years so you'll want them to be future proof.
Rabid Rabbit i think so

Is it true that some ancient/older GPUs do not need to be connected to the PSU?
