- The Coast Guard announced Tuesday night the suspension of the search and rescue efforts for six people who went missing after a container ship struck Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge.

I can just say I live near this traggic ACCIDENT !Coast Guard Base Curtis Bay is right there and they know what they are doing. My dad us retired USCG he worked many a SAR case.Prayers the divers are safe

They did all they could do, they called it in 27 minutes before impact that the ship lost power, lost control and may strike the bridge. What more could they have done? Put your stones and pitchforks down and get your facts straight. You people are always looking for someone to blame. Accidents happen. Unfortunately.
@@headliner733if that were the real case they would have had time to shut the bridge down but the bridge didn't get shut down so no they do need to answer just like who ever they called needs to answer
@@mr.sambeats9212Not sure where the previous commenter got 27 minutes from, but there were mere minutes between the mayday call and the impact. The bridge did get shut down when they received the call, but given the length of the bridge and the mere minutes they had before impact it’s likely there were still some vehicles who were still on the bridge before it was able to closed off. Thankfully their mayday call was able to give them some time to close to bridge and hopefully prevent even more casualties.

This is just an awful tragedy and the reason they gave (loss of power) as to why this happened is just unacceptable and all those responsible should be held accountable. Sending prayers and healing to all the loved ones of the victims. 🙏🏾
Think about how many times your phone or other pieces of technology you used have malfunctioned….that can happen with anything anywhere no matter how many times it’s been checked. You can never completely eliminate risk and you can’t blame it on anyone. It was a tragic accident. From what it sounds like the ships pilot did all he could to try to prevent this. They dropped anchor and tried to slow the ship down and they called in a mayday and anticipated the potential impact as soon as they could. There is only so much you could do. Now if they hadn’t taken the proper action, maybe they would be partially responsible, but preliminary reports imply that they followed protocol for a situation like this.
@@user-rg1hw8he8s Everyday electronic devices, such as smartphones pales in comparison by a mile to 90000 ton cargo ship malfunctioning. The mere fact that this is such a rare tragedy cancels out any semblance of substance in your logic.

A video I watched shows that traffic was stopped seven minutes before the collapse of the bridge.
So sad I hope everybody is okay now it should be going after the boat guy it's so weird how that one boat did all that damage
@@irmasalmeron8 It was a container ship, it weighed over a 100,000 tons. Hitting anything, even at slow speed, would do significant damage.

The "rescue" phase was looking for live survivors. They are now in the "recovery" phase and with less urgency looking for bodies.

It was carrying cargo. You want a list of everything? Why?
Idk what ppl expected if youre in a car and your in the water if youre not trained specifically to excape a sinking vehicle its veey unlikely you survive. Cars arent airtight so there is very very little time to act. Added that this was ik the dark andnin cold water it was never realistic in terms of finding survivours.
What a tragedy for all the people, workers and all...that were there!... rest in peace. On the other hand, how is it possible that bridge has no wireless CCTV .... that's very outdated the same as the bridge.

That water is deep and the current there is metal, steel and these can be very dangerous.
Did you not hear what they said? They did look for them. And the water is also very cold. And there is very sharp massive metal structures and other unknown debris in the water. The current is constantly changing moving debris around. Would you like to go down there and look for them? They will continue looking and will look more once they get the debris out of the water. This is coming sense man. Lay off the dope and use your brain.
Maybe because the reports say that the ship's crew sent a mayday and emergency services managed to stop traffic on the bridge. The missing are the construction workers.

@@marylu1019I don't know what is being said now,but the video of the ship striking the Bridgestone cars with their head lights on crossing the bridge,it was said it was like 1:30am .(Boston is East Coast time zone).There is video of the boat striking,and the road bed falling with the cars on it.They said there are several cars located with sonar this morning.(East Coaast Time)

If you believe everything these guys said please go do dive training with a professional. It’s wild that one of the most well equipped military branches in the world can’t even give a straight answer on how many people are in the water or how many vehicles are in the water just because the water is a little cold and or their afraid the debris might puncture a divers air tank give me a fucking air tank and I’ll put my own wet suit on and I’ll stay under looking until my air starts to run out and then I’d refuel on air and go back in or better yet call the seal team divers they will get the job done with less equipment and they won’t bitch about the cold these are human lives were talking about someone’s daughter or son or father or mother were talking about quit making up excuses this was either planned or they just don’t care.
So the Gov can take 3-5 days to look for Riley

They are not deploying rescue swimmers. Rescue swimmers go into rough conditions. Divers do not. Not Coast Guard divers. It’s way too dangerous with currents and the equipment that they carry. Easily could be another tragedy when we know unfortunately the victims have perished.

In 2002 14 people lost their lives including infants and children when a barge in the Arkansas river hit the I-40 bridge in webbers falls Oklahoma. That wasn't enough proof theres issues even then?
The barge ran loose due to flood waters. Noone was blamed for it. Accidents happen. Get over it. Stop searching for someone to blame. If you people truly cared about your safety you wouldn't drive like you're intentionally trying to kill yourself and everyone around you and you'd obey the speed limits but noooooo.
