Guys you know that there is a caste system in Indian. So there are some castes that are backward or are in minorities so there are diffrent categories based on which they get different levels of relaxation. Like in colleges some percentage of seats are reserved for these caste categories. They also get relaxation in fees etc.This is basically to help they grow to the equal status like General Caste catagory. There are some disadvantages of this system as well.....

There are OBCs Other Backward Class, SC Scheduled Caste, ST Scheduled Tribe, PwD Person with Disability. And a person of any religion, caste, region could be in this. One can apply for it and after some checking they get the status and the benefits of seat reservation in Universities of medical, engineering, law and others with concession in fees; government jobs; etc. So initially this program was to be stopped after a decade of independence but as politicians saw this as a vote-bank, this continued. This is based on economical status majorly and few other requirements. But because of corruption and because of the weird way policies are written and interpreted by the bureaucrats- the not so poor, the middle class some rich get these category status and get their children in good universities because then the admission marks requirement is low for them.

OBC is other backward classes like in past 1000 year these backward classes people faced a lots of issue due to their cast like they don't get jobs easily in past time due to which today mostly OBC people are bellow poverty line.
