I’m the Jeff that’s referred to in this video and I can say that the model looks even more gorgeous in person! Thanks so much for building it and doing this video so I could see some of the process.

The base looks great and the model you did I want mine to look close to the same. Love your channel, Merry Christmas mate :)

This ship was originally designed for Battlestar Galactica. But they went with the 3 wing design instead, but kept the name Viper that was based on the two forward prongs that were remincent of snake fangs.

In the TV series it was a four seater, the model earliest versions (1979) had a single pilot taking up the whole cockpit .

Great job on the build. You have to wonder if Monogram did any test fits of the kit before shipping. I can only assume this was created fast and quick in that order to capture any fans of the tv series and then forgotten about afterwards. Do you know if the molds still exist for this kit, or were they recycled?

Thanks, I think you're right that it was created fast without a big concern for quality. I don't know about the molds.

Great job Rusty. Did you know that there is a upcoming IPMS/USA show in Chattanooga January 6th and 7th. I went last year and it's really good event.

This fighter is a nice design.
BTW, I've heard this kit is MUCH easier to find in Japan at a decent price although I think that's become better known.
I'm surprised they never re-released much of Buck Rogers. It's a minor miracle the series (and the pilot film!) are out on Blu ray now. They had the soundtrack available on CD about a decade ago but it's out of print now.
I, of course, DO have Battlestar Galactica on Blu ray. I got the release that had the original TV format as well as the reformatted widescreen versions of the original TV series. Unfortunately, they also included Galactica 1980 as an extra! LOL

I always loved both those Buck Rogers & Battlestar Galactica fighter designs (even the Cylons). Concur that it's a pity there hasn't been a re-release.

"In the year 1987, NASA launched its last deep-space mission. Aboard a tall rocket, Ranger 5 was sent into deep space..."
Okay, it's a paraphrase! Don't ever ask me to quote somebody... I'm a visual guy, not verbal!!! 😅
Okay, from IMDB -- William Conrad narration: "In the year 1987, at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, NASA launched the last of America's deep space probes. The payload, perched on the nose cone of the massive rocket, was a one-man exploration vessel - Ranger 3..."
