In the U.K. in the seventies there was a twenty episode series called the World At War, about the 2nd World War. In the last episode they looked how it effected Countries, including financially. In 1945 the USA was twice as wealthy as it was in 1940 ! I found this puzzling, so did some investigation. One alarming points I found out was that the U.K. was not given military equipment for free from USA, and took Britain till 2005 to pay these debts. So far I have not found out if Russia, and France had pay for their military equipment from USA. May be someone in the comments can explain why USA was so wealthy at the end of WW2 ?
By GDP or Gross Domestic Product is what the U.S. is producing as far as the things it makes & the value of it. Net wealth is similar as net worth, the wealth part is based on assets (all the stuff we produce & have a service to give at a price) & our debt. So while we maybe trillions in debt, or GDP is what keeps us as the "richest" country (I big difference imo to being wealthy) because we are rich in the services we provide & goods we produce. Hence why we dump trillions into military spending (we provide the service as world police) & give almost criminal like tax breaks & laws to businesses that can add to the GDP and services we provide. China might be the wealthiest country based on how their debt to income ratio is. I'd also like to see the wealthiest countries based on all measures (little or no debt, decent military, lowest poverty, best healthcare, lowest crime rate, small business assistance availability, appropriate tax or wealthier companies & overall citizen satisfaction as well as immigrant acceptance. That's the true definition of Rich & Wealthy country to me.
@@Racko. the key is always in how it is defined. For a "rich" country, we have trillions in debt which I personally believe the United States to take the brunt of leg work in international affairs, especially on a militaristic level. Imange if you borrow more then produce (which is what the U.S. does) and you have to pay it back. What if you can't do it in the time allowed? What services can you "pay" with & what value does it have? Not to mention even if it eliminates some of the monetary debt, it still remains for us to borrow more. Essentially the U.S. has terrible spending habits & refuses to budget or appropriately tax those that can afford that said tax. This practice can be seen with companies (Walmart & the NFL have done this) who come into a city/town/county & say they are bringing in jobs. They get tax breaks on the land they purchase & even get a return on the land they buy (Walmart has a reality company solely on this concept) to rent to smaller stores that will ha e to pay a fraction of the tax that Walmart might have to pay. The workers taxable income for that municipalities will never equal to the amount that company should pay & their net income can spare that taxe amount. NFL new stadium deals will have a 25/25/50 split when building new venues, NFL/collective teams/municipalities is 90% how this is split. However again not only will the "city" pay for the building cost, they will forgo tax on the part that the NFL organization pays on building. So any money that can go to other "city" services are sent that way. What the hope is that the backend or money made on various rental properties, employees salaries etc will comp the difference but very rarely do. This is the SOLE reason that the Oakland Raiders are moving to Las Vegas & imo the most admiral thing a city could do for its citizens. Both the team, fans, city & the NFL as a organization understand this as all part on amicable terms. Oakland refused to eat 50% of the new stadium cost and they should have had to, not when the fans are pumping in money hand over fist into the team (who have never had a Super Bowl as far as I can remember & I was born in 1980) & the NFL. All while the team & NFL are signing multi million dollar deals wit8even as so much as helping renovate the stadium on a constant level. Even paying for naming rights might be a loosing factor, but I'll take a better look into that. All around, in the United States we have a horrible spending system & due to politics we are not getting out of debt on any level no time soon
@@danielland3767 I enjoyed reading this, it's the cold hard truth, some things in the system are in NEED for an overdue more so the debt. Usually countries to actually pay of their debt, they can spend years and decades and dont really pay it, its a requirement to pay it at some point but I dont see this happening anytime soon Wealth Inequality is no accident, the capitalist behavior has severely thrown working class under the bus
Wow! I really enjoyed watching several of your videos on this channel, you really fell short on this one. Two of the main reasons why America became so wealthy is because of slavery and free labor and massacring tot the native American Indians and stealing their land and resources. I’m just surprised that you didn’t be brutally honest on how America truly became great.
did you see how far less developed the South was compared to the North before the civil war ? Not a chance America woud'lve been anywhere close to where it is if slavery wasnt abolished, so much for slaves building Americas wealth. And indians have been doing that to each other for millenia yet haven't exactly been prosperous and Great lol
Videos like this ALWAYS leave out that free Labor for hundreds of years part, It was the MAIN backbone to America growth 🙄 You can ALWAYS depend on White Americans to leave it out……….It never fails.
They pass laws to tell you what you can learn , Gov. bail you out and give you money because you make greedy selfish decisions with your company. If you live in America you live under a plutocracy
really? were we "letting ppl be free" when over 10million Americans were kept as slaves -- growing the agricultural wealth which lead to international dominance.....yall a trip with these lies
@@joshuatellington5339 Yeah America is not a perfect country, we do have a shady past, but the fact still remains that now, in this era, there’s more opportunities probably than any other country, we gotta move on man and stop acting as if slavery was just yesterday or we’re not gonna make it
Not really. American wealth is tied to their assets they are cash poor but asset rich, just FYI there are 817 billionaires in the US several humdreds of thousands centi millionaires and hundreds of thousands of millionaires, american wealth is STEALTH wealth, chinese wealth is loud wealth, they are loud because they are new money, they havent been rich before, americans have been rich since 1776… huge difference… america still has more billionaires and more millionaires created compared to china
I believe America is still the best country to come to if you want to build wealth (I heard a stat on Dave Ramsey that immigrants are 4x more likely to become millionaires than natural born citizens). If you desire a less stressful life and just want to live comfortably, there are countries that would suit you better
People think the American dream is dead until they visit other countries and They see how little opportunity there is there, then come back feeling happy to be here. Its ok to be happy to be in the US !
not sure comparing the US to Germany is a good one for a working culture as Germans are more productive and accomplish more in their 1,400 hours than the US in 1,800 hours. i know its saying US works hard but I get annoyed when people cherry pick data.
More like a developed country with criminal Healthcare cost, wouldn't say developing country with more than half the population is living a privilege (in a good way) lifestyle compared to most parts of the world, even in other Developed Western nations US healthcare wont deny treating you, but in the future when you dont have insurance it will cripple your financial performance
@@purplelove3666 The United States has been blessed in many many ways by God Himself, but the biggest blessing from the God of the Bible would be if the United States of America would repent and turn back to God and start keeping His eternal Torah. God bless you and your family, shalom.🙏
🤔 Their gargantuan misstep of consistently failing to acknowledge America's horrid history of slavery and cultural impact of certain groups indicate their gross misunderstanding or intentional overlook of the impact of human history.... They have a blind eye. In other words, "do your own research".
Certainly worth noting... however, many other currently developed nations had slavery as well. In fact, many argue that China and North Korea still do.
Democratic system plays a huge part in success of American, the checks and balance between the 3 branches of Government, but the key here is really congress. So long as congress works for the people, then you can extract the best system for the people. But if you have a congress now in America that is politicking, not really for the people even though they craft law with titles of 'for the people', then you have got a problem. Congress in US is trying to monopolize power by getting their guy in the Executive or Presidential role, and they are working not for the people but for the elites, so yes America is shooting themselves in their foot right now
America is rich because: 1. they successful made us have faith that US dollar is the currency of international trade 2. they have secured energy based on their shenanigans with the affairs of the middle east 3. supplying in war gave them a headstart in terms of wealth (ww1). Victory over ww2 game them global influence at the other side of the pacific Korea and Japan and enabled these nations to focus on producing and supply them these goods 4. Immigration or simply import of talents. US imported the genius in science from Germany (example the development of Nuclear weapon) 5. American law and political structure that is friendly to enrepreneurship, capitalist system, access to capital to people in general, also them being along with London the largest financial market where values are being traded 6. They have 300mllion plus population in in a way them being United states helped that become utilized. That is why China is a threat economically because the Authoritarian govt can move its 1.4bn population according to its wants, they can easily develop infrastructure, easily create a consumer monopoly for its chinese businesses and institutions In the words of the great Mike Milken (the junk bond king), success or future of US relies on human capital which is: 1. Healthcare 2. Education system 3. Immigration
@@aeromocinho germany is ahead of USA in that sector. Belgium and France also surpass the USA in that category (Leopold in the Congo, arguably worst genocide ever)

Yep that relative geographic isolation, from other world powers, especially during its formative years that allowed the US to develop a stable domestic market.

As a black man I can easily say slavery... but the true reason why America is truly rich is because they understood the value of people instead of mineral resources. America obviously values mineral resources but at the same time they realize that the true resources are people. Yup it has, America has to print dollars and receive real products. Having the reserve currency will diminish their manufacturing base tho. The world needs US dollars to trade. One way to obtain US dollars is to send products to America for dollars. This will force domestic manufacturers to compete. Sadly many went bankrupt or had to outsource.

@@danielland3767 thanks to educating him
@@Racko. the key is always in how it is defined.

Congress in US is trying to monopolize power by getting their guy in the Executive or Presidential role, and they are working not for the people but for the elites, so yes America is shooting themselves in their foot right now
America is rich because:
1. they successful made us have faith that US dollar is the currency of international trade
2. they have secured energy based on their shenanigans with the affairs of the middle east
3. supplying in war gave them a headstart in terms of wealth (ww1). Victory over ww2 game them global influence at the other side of the pacific Korea and Japan and enabled these nations to focus on producing and supply them these goods
4. Immigration or simply import of talents. US imported the genius in science from Germany (example the development of Nuclear weapon)
5. American law and political structure that is friendly to enrepreneurship, capitalist system, access to capital to people in general, also them being along with London the largest financial market where values are being traded
6. They have 300mllion plus population in in a way them being United states helped that become utilized. That is why China is a threat economically because the Authoritarian govt can move its 1.4bn population according to its wants, they can easily develop infrastructure, easily create a consumer monopoly for its chinese businesses and institutions

One way to obtain US dollars is to send products to America for dollars. This will force domestic manufacturers to compete. Sadly many went bankrupt or had to outsource.

And most importantly
4. The living standart of its average and lowers people, and do note that the average does not matter in the face of the lowest, for a society that leaves its people behind has failed
