- In this video, I rank what are in my opinion the top 10 roller coasters at Carowinds, a Cedar Fair park in Charlotte, NC! This park is most well-known for Fury 325, but they have a bunch of other great coasters too! Enjoy!

Fury 325 was my very first ride ever when I was 11 years old. This is one of my favorite and it reminds me that I wanna go there again!
same except i hated it lol
I remember in 7th grade my band class took a trip to carowinds, and it was a life changing experience for me. I rode so many coasters and ha the time of my life with some of my best friends. We were supposed to go again in 8th grade, but it got canceled because of COVID-19. It was a real bummer that we didn’t get to go, but I will cherish the time I went forever. Thanks for making this video and bringing back some great memories!
I literally went yesterday and all I saw was band students
Afterburn was amazing. Its unpredictable and thrilling
I get that Nighthawk is rough, but I actually have a soft spot for it. It's such a weird experience being on your back and repeatedly getting flipped over like a pancake. The corkscrews made me especially dizzy
I've only gotten to ride it a few times despite going there TONS of times as I was growing up, mainly because of the wait times. Honestly, I agree. What I remember from it was pretty fun despite the roughness!
I really enjoyed being upside down over the water. Much more thrilling than the hurler in any case.
I'm afraid of it
I hated nighthawk!!! For my first ride I was back row to
SAME i love nighthawk
You know you’re going fast when the notches in the track start merging together 😭😂
I know right it looks so weird
I just got back from my first visit, we went 2 days. Fury 325 is as great as everyone says. Intimidator had tons of airtime in the back row. It's easily the second best coaster in the park. Copperhead Strike is unique and just flat out fun. The weak launches are actually a bonus, they make the inversions full of hang time instead of pinning you to your seat. Afterburn is great. After these 4, Carowinds is a really weak park. The other coasters are definitely a one & done, the flat ride lineup is lame & there's not a single water ride. On a positive note, the employees were all super friendly and that burrito place at the front of the park is awesome.
You’re missing the Nighthawk. The Intimidator is great in the very back row a lot of airtime.
Yep first time i went to Carowinds i wanted to get on the 2 tallest rides there thats was intimidator and fury 325 when i went on fury i passed out that how awsome it was
I go every year I live in sc
Honestly, my favorite time to ride coasters is in the rain. The pattering of the rain in your face, and squinting, adds a whole other dimension to the experience!! And the lines are usually non-existant in a light rain. Highly recommended to ride roller coasters in the rain. It will be epic.
Gold Rush will always have a special place in my heart because I rode it about 8 times in one day with my dad while my mom and sister went to do Top Gun when it first opened (I wasn't tall enough and didn't want to go upside down). Scooby Doo was also good, the stomach dropping feeling at the first drop always got me (as an under 10 yo).
Top gun which is now called afterburn is still one of my favorites, used to be Carowinds main roller coaster in the early 2000s and is still a smooth ride.
yeah, I was confused listening to this list because at least 3 of the names have changed since I last went. The #10 slot I was like, "that 's Scooby Doo."
absolutely, it's still my favorite after all these years, back when it was top gun, the danger zone song on repeat was 🔥, 325 is amazing but after bunner is more enjoyable
Thanks for this. I'm going to Carowinds this weekend, and I wanted to get the skinny on the roller coaster offerings. Your video and commentary helped a lot.
Yo that intro was cool, your production value has gotten a lot better, keep it up!
I’m going to Carowinds for a field trip at school and u Judy gave me some ideas on rides i want to get on!! Tysm!!💕
I rode some of these rides yesterday and I enjoyed them. Some of them were fairly smooth and my favorite was probably the Flying Cobras. It was smooth and I liked the fact it was different out of the rest and went backward. I rode the Copperhead last year on new years with my siblings and had the same reaction as you. Final one I rode was the Fury 325. It was one of my favorites and I would ride all of these again. 😁👍
Great ranking! My list is similar. Keep up the great work!
I’m super excited because I might be going here
Nighthawk sits higher for me because if you go towards the front, you totally feel like Superman on the inversions. I like Hurler, but I would gladly sacrifice it for the return of Thunder Road (if that were to happen). As for Cyclone, I hope that stays so long as the park still stands. It's one of the classics. I will definitely try out the Intimidator in the front and it was interesting to hear the insight on the trim brakes.
I've been on a nighthawk type ride b4. For some reason my kid wants to call it ...the hulk too :/ 🤔 🤷🏻♀️. But this was at universal & I was younger & I was absolutely terrified, wishing for it to be over pretty much the whole time. Contiously closing my eyes just to open them again. If it wasn't for carowinds i don't think I would've gotten used to roller coasters. Now I just think sh like if I can survive 1 of the biggest coasters in the world, in the front row, its possible all rides will be a bit more tame :/. Also me watching coasters on yt: 🤔💡 this is what I do to myself 😅. I just recently went on the afterburn. It was pretty fun tho. It's an interesting turn of a view/perspective/position. But now i want to try the other non typical ones including revisting my childhood bc y not
Riding Thunder road backwards as a kid brings back so much nostalgia but i were to ride it now if they still have it I probably won’t ride roller coasters again 😅
I’ve never gone to Carowinds before I’m going for my first time in August. This is so helpful it helps all of my family members because we’re going for my dad and my cousins birthday this is so helpful and thank you so much for doing this I hope you do more videos like this
I've done some other videos like this for other parks' roller coaster lineups, and I plan to do more for the parks I visit in the future
Hey did u go ?
Good
I agree with your list urs was the best list of all of them
thank you! im actually about to leave to go to carowinds :)
Is the park open? Also what weekday is best for little to no crowds? I have this vid saved so I can use it as reference for coaster seating!
On maverick in Cedar Point, I think you get some airtime going down the hill after the launch
I love Carowinds last time when I went with my first time my all-time favorite ride is fine, but I love the way it goes up and then you immediately go down and then you go backwards upside down I was 49 inches last time now I’m 52 last time I cannot ride all the rides but I’m hoping to be 504 this summer when we go back
I shall Never forget Thunder Road! When Carowinds tore it down, it was like a big part of my childhood was gone!! I still remember the signs going up that big hill: Grit your teeth; Bear the load; Enjoy your ride; On Thunder Road. I've wondered what happened to those signs. I bet they'd be worth some money today!!
I just went to Carowinds it was awesome your tips were so true
Great! I'm glad my tips were of good use for you
Same !
The snake roller coaster is my favorite one!
Fury will always have a special place in me because it was my first carowinds coaster and I waited an hour to go on it
Too bad Thunder Road isn't around anymore. I'd love to know how that would've ranked among all these other coasters.
I rode it about 1 month before it was taken down
Grit yer teeth, bear the load, prepare to ride, on Thunder Road!
Thunder Road to me was still one of the best rides at Carrowinds! It definitely would make my top 5. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THEY TORE IT DOWN😭
@@leighalmund9044 Part of me does wonder if they still could've kept that ride and simply just built Carolina Harbor around it if they just expanded the footprint. I guess we'll never know.
@@mitchellries256 Ikr! Omgooosh yes just built around it. They need to build another Thunder Road the exact same layout but better. They lost their minds when they took it out!
I love the fury by far my favorite roller coaster at carowinds and I am hoping to ride the cobra or the copper heard strike, I love carowinds!
Dang you and I were very close. Copperhead was my 99th credit and I got my 100th on Intimidator later that day!
I LOVE THE INTIMIDATOR!!!!!
Top 3 !!!! Right on.🙌👍🏼
From my experience on afterburn I get how you put it on the top 3 it is very fun and thrilling but from what I have experienced was very rickety. Don’t know if it was just where I was sitting or what.
First time I rode copper head strike I was in the front row it was amazing 😭
I was about to chicken out on Fury 325. So glad I rode it
Thunder Road was my favorite but some Einstein to tear it down now the hurlers my favorite I like wooden coasters wish we had more of them gold rushes up there too I'm twenty-seven now been going since I was a little boy I used to love that place
YES UR NUMBERS ARE RIGHT AND EXACT!!!! I RODE ALL BUT 2 ROLLER COASTERS THERE AND THE FURY 325 I HAD TO RIDE 3 TIMES LOL!!!!! AMAZING!!! 😂💯💯💯
Next time you go to carowinds, try to beat my marathon record for afterburn, 67 rides in a 5 hour span, they just let me stay on after the 5th time in a row 🤣. Honestly it’s my number 1 at that park
Yeah man i live like 30 minutes away from Carrowinds. Been going there since i was just a little boy. I heavily recommend you come back during halloween season and check out scarrowinds. They have several insane haunted houses and 100’s of workers dressed up everywhere across the park. All of the rides are open during scarrowinds as well. I heavily suggest coming back during halloween season.
Best time to be in the park!
See, I wish I could ride these but I have an extreme fear of roller coasters and heights. Like I can nearly ride Woodstock express. I try to not be a baby but I can’t. Any tips on how to get over it?
Honestly I find some of the kid centered rides scarier because they're more claustrophobic. Had to duck the whole time on the Carolina Gold Rusher because I felt like I was going to get my head taken off and I'm like 5'11"
The corkscrew at the end of after burn was vary rouge for me
Some ppl hate nighthawk however it was just as fun as the fury for me def worth a shot
I hate nighthawk!!!
ikr!!! i love nighthawk but it’s always so fulll so whenever i go i barely get on it
I bet it looks crazy cool during the night time. I'm not gonna even lie tho. My nerves act up right before I get on a ride. When I got on afterburn recently and the thing wouldn't stay down I said cool, ill just die then. After that failed, I said dude, really? Wever u call them, the seat belt ppl, he said nothing & eventually came over. Not answering me isn't helping me any tho
Flying cobras and hurler are usually switched but my opinion hurler is worse the bumps can be bad but the main part is when you hit the brakes your stomach hurts and your leaning forward but good list
My home park!! I’m only 26 years old but I feel ancient trying to keep up with the coaster names after ownership changed. Loved your commentary. But can’t believe you think Hurler is smooth! My dad’s friend broke ribs!! And that was in the 90s!
vortex needs a floorless conversion eventually and nighthawk needs to be removed and replaced with a more forceful launch coaster i think. hurler is ok for what it is but if they make it an rmc it'd just give them a better lineup. their top 4 is great but there's a big dropoff after that to the mediocre rides (carolina cyclone and hurler) and then a couple bad rides like nighhawk and vortex, even though vortex is nowhere near as bad as nighthawk. a floorless conversion and a more forceful launch coaster would eliminate the weakest links of their lineup, and ideally they'd get rid of their boomerang for a railblazer clone but im not gonna hold out for that one tbh. theyve only developed 75% of their land i believe so they have some room to add in things without removing anything but for the sake of keeping operations simple finding something to get rid of would definitely make those things more doable
I've been the Carowinds before my favorites a hawk I wish I could go on it but it's a 350 foot drop I was going to go on the copperhead but the lines are insanely long they're going to have to have a FastPass for that so I go and Snoopy land instead❤
I miss the old design for the Carolina cyclone but I do like the bright blue
Did Woodstock get removed I never saw it in 2021
It’s still there
Intimidator is my favorite because you don’t get that fear that your gonna die like on the fury because it depends if though
IM THERE!!!
Bro you be hating on my night Hawk. 😂😂
Is it still open during covid?
It's opened now!
I got front row on nighthawk and it wasn’t Rough
You have to have to have to get the front row on the afterburn
How is hurler that high
My band was set to perform at carowinds last year and this year but covid canceled both the trips. I want to go so bad :(
Lmfao same but I went in 6th grade
@@jose-jz6cv bro I had the chance to go in 6th grade but I was already going to MPA (which is a band competition) so I didnt want to do even more. Tbh idk what was going on inside my mind at that time lol
@@simpleduck9799 lmao damn I’m happy I went to carowinds I didn’t feel like going bc I’m pretty antisocial
The Carolina Cyclone is exactly the same as Python in the Efteling
Lol what I was a kid in 6th grade I went to this place in the park and all the chapters did a play with my youth class
Love the coasters but I’m much more snug in the seat as I get older
“Last ride made surviving but int coasters” dude thunder road is still surviving too it’s at kings dominion
How many of y’all remember the coaster at carowinds called White Lightning?
I am going now this is my first time 😁
lol i live in south carolina. And go to carowins and my fav ride is the fury
I went to Caroline’s just to ride fury 325, I went on it a couple times then left
Cool
i cant imagine why anyone would put intimidator at number 4 it look so much more fun than afterburn or copperhead but ill have to experience it when i go
When your older on kitty hawk your head bangs SO hard
I just went today with early pass btw
Goin here in less than 11 hours!
I even been to Carowinds
I agree with everything besides that I think Night hawk should be even lower on the list maybe switch with ricochet
I remember when the hurler was called Wayne's World
Really liked the video, you sound like you’re from the south 🤣
@@coastersnthings Yea the way you pronounce numbers. Great video dude.
I miss Thunder Road
Carolina Cyclone is being renovated and new paint jobs for the cars Track and other details are at m.ruclips.net/video/MzDvCurNvxw/видео.html
I went on the first one an I was closing my eyes when we stoped while going upside down Then we went as fast as heck
8:25 the tallest giga coaster is actually Red Force at Ferrari Land
Lmao that thing isn't a giga it's a strata jr. Would you call Xcelerator at Knotts a hyper?
I really hate the carolina cyclone, it's way to rough, first time i rode it, i was crying. Though i was 8 at the time
I want to ride the fury but i am to small.
Now yk intimadator is the 2nd best. After burn is 3rd.

1.Fury
How many people watching this vid have actually rode the fury? I have
Cyclone at #4?
No, #5
@@coastersnthings my mistake lol that's always been my top fav at carowinds
I hope I can ride Fury 325 again, I really miss the time during working at Carowinds!
How do you ride a stand up coaster? He said "If you know how to ride one, it's not that bad." or something.
lol
This is a late response, but I’ll explain. However low you think you need to set your restraint on a stand up coaster, set it even lower. That way it won’t come up on you in between your legs during the ride. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did afterwards.
the fury is the best! so much fun.
I keep seeing you 😭I’m going to carowinds on the 22nd ✋🏻 also I love your pfp 😩
@@mercymain. LMAOO THANK YOU. and have fun!
@@kennedylind992 LMAO I WILL BESTIE 💅🏻
@@mercymain. MAKE SURE TO RIDE THE NIGHTHAWK ISTG IT IS AMAZING-
@@kennedylind992 I FOR SURE WILL ✋🏻✋🏻
Cyclone is painful on the ears
Nc is my home state I go to Carowinds all the time
I rode afterburn first thing when I was a kid now I ride fury 🤣 then afterburn
after burn is achtullly based off of the movie top gun
I just got back from Carowinds
Ya
We camped
Flying cobras is the same as a Dutch rollercoster
Me and my brother call vortex the puke ride because a kid puked on the ride and we had it wait like 1:30 to ride a 30 second coaster that’s not that good but every other coaster is amazing
I really think copperhead is overrated. I don't think it stands compared to the big coasters, as for I think afterburn does it better.
I remember crying on my best friends parents we are riding a flying cobra I was terrified And I think I passed out on the furry-
2 hours away from riding all of these
I don’t like the vortex. At all. Not comfortable
I know this is a year later, but bro seriously you are gonna say if you know how to ride a stand up coaster it's fun, and then not tell us your secrets. I've ridden a couple and my nutsack hurt the whole time. Why won't you tell me the secret?
Here’s the secret, however low you think you need to set your restraint, set it even lower than that. It’ll prevent that area from hurting so much. I learned that the hard way the first time I rode a standup.
Why does it sound like you're reading a script
Because I was lol, I script all my ranking videos.
Shit looked more like CGI at the end
Nobody likes the nighthawk 😂😂 i dnt like it neither head was hurting for 30 mins straight
