- Discovered in 1896, this is quite the historic mine with a good story behind it. This was one of the richest mines in it's mining district, producing around half a million dollars of gold in the period of 1896 to 1923. There was a three month span ending on July 19th, 1923 where they extracted more than 560 ounces of gold! This is a truly massive mine, I only explored about 3 levels and there were still 2 or 3 past the 350 foot level on the inclined shaft. There's a nice array of artifacts and miner's graffiti scattered about this mine. Hope you guys enjoy this video, and as always thanks for watching!
in the 70's my next door neighbor had a cabin in the Lake Isabel highlands off a road called Sawmill road by Scotties Marina. We went into an old mine and I found a Prince Albert tobacco can that still had a little tobacco. like new, It was very old but had not seen the sun in over 70 years. I took it. I was only 11 or 12 back then. I used it as a pocket fishing tackle holder and when I was 16, I got hit by a car on my bike, corner of harbor bl and imperial hwy. I was hurt bad, in a coma, they said Id never walk again, bla bla bla But my fishing poles, reels tackle, bike and Prince Albert can were all gone! When I see these cans, I remember the lures and jigs I used to carry in them. Weird how the human mind works, relates things with other things and organize's them all on its own. Be careful in those mines my friend, do be in one in a slide or collapse with be a horrible way to go.
Wow, crazy story Alan! I've yet to find one with tobacco inside, interesting you mentioned that because the mine I just went to last week had a cigarette with tobacco still in it. Amazing you fully recovered and more, gotta love perseverance like that. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
My bike and my tackle box was my whole life at 16. And my baseball glove!
Really enjoyed your narration. ✌🏻😎
Young men exploring a great, and risky place. Thank you.
Virginia City NV watching another great WMD explore.👍
Man I randomly stumbled across your channel and recognized this thumbnail immediately. I took the same photo and many others of this mine. If I remember correctly the lower level drifts were pretty barren of any artifacts but the first few drifts had a lot of cool stuff still. This mine as well as a few others in the area I used to explore with my friends and our favorite mine was the one next to the old cemetery. Glad I found this video it made me go through all my old photos of this place from 3-4 years ago.
Very cool mine with all the artifacts. Awesome video, I really liked the extended length.
Awesome mine. It was cool seeing the dates on the papers and the graffiti. So many cool artifacts too
Awesome mine with lots of goodies!
Great video!
👍👍👍👊😎
Can you please finish exploring the rest of this mine for next week's video!? We need to know what's down the bottom Jerith! Great explore!
Yes please finish and I must say, you did a Much Better job with this video, you were very informative, safer and not in a rush to keep up with your friend.
Cool mine, love the graffiti, thanks!
Another fantastic explore Jerith! Thank you for taking us along with you and sharing what the miners left behind. If only those items could talk and tell you about the person that held them.
What an awesome intact mine experience! Thank you so much for sharing your continuing adventures on RUclips.
you definitely have some really cool videos and this is one of the best ones! been checking out a lot of your videos and you have a great presentation way about you.. cant wait to see more of your adventures in the future.. always stay safe!
Great explore, that was truly awesome video. I wished you would of had time to see the rest of the levels.
Wow, that's one hell of a mine! Great video!
How is it that you seem to find the coolest mines? Out of all the exploration videos I watch, nobody beats your explores. You have an incredible eye for detail that noone else has. I have to ask though, will you be going back to finish exploring this mine? Am really curious to what other treasures might be found! Stay safe!
Awesome mine. So many cool things left in the mine. Another great video. Love your content.❤
Hey Bonnie, this mine definitely has a bunch of cool artifacts. Couldn't imagine what else there is in the way lower levels. I'm glad you enjoy my videos, thanks for watching!
@@WesternMineDetective are you gonna check out the lower levels.
Quite impressive. You seem to have a knack for exploring some interesting mines! Great video and well done. Thanks and take care young fellow.
It's my passion that's for sure. Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for watching!
Wow! This mine seems to be in very good condition. Love the Ford graffiti!
It's a good one! That Ford graffiti was really cool and pretty old, guessing 1930s like alot of the stuff in this mine. Thanks for watching as always man!
Awesome video thanks for sharing 👍💜
Thanks alot for watching Sandra!
Great explore. Loved it. Thank you.
Great field trip. Thanks for the share.
Kool video! Lee got white whiskers!
Amazing video. I never cared about mines until your videos. No joke. Do be careful. I would never go inside one but the hikes to some of them I would enjoy
That was awesome and extra long which I like. Talk about artifacts! Keep an eye out for clothing, shirts, blue jeans etc. They could be valuable.
Always keeping my eye out for artifacts and the like. I felt like this video needed to be a bit longer considering every several seconds I'd come across some interesting artifacts or features. Thanks for watching!
I thought I noticed a pair of work gloves in one of the upper side stopes you explored. They were next to something else you'd picked up to look at.
Cool video 📹 keep them coming but please stay safe from Scotland
Good explore, keep up the good work..
towards the end, you mentioned you saw a really nice vein and that it probably had gold in it. Can you or could you pick at the vein and take anything with you?
This mine was a good one
Sweet the original taggers ! ✌❤🤗
Please finish your exploration topside and underground. Looks like a hoarder issue in the hoist house. Great video , thank you.
That box labeled 'De Vine appears to be from a packing Company, so my guess is that it once had held tomatoes. Does that Hires Root Beer bottle appear to be made of glass or plastic? My view of it was a little uncertain. Nice explore, thanks and stay safe.
Whiskers, not whisky. Great video, good job!
How long ago were you there? I was there in April, and the incline was plugged.
That patent for the Hires bottle was awarded on May 26, 1936.
Not creepy drawings at all, very talented
Don’t tell anyone where that mine is. Doesn’t look like much has been stolen from it. Great video.
That Lucky Strike cigarette pack is a collector's item. Too bad it was crushed. The U.S. military needed all the green paint and dye for camouflage in WWII so R.J. Reynolds ran a campaign along with changing the Lucky Strike Green to Red that said, 'Lucky Strike has gone to war.' Actually, a pack of LS had to be full and unopened to get premium prices from collectors of $50 to $75. Pretty cool mine. Looks like you got there before the thieves. Nice video.
Whoa, serious stopage
Perhaps the drawings represented the conditions of working in the mine was “hell” metaphorically speaking for them
Like the stills slotted in after sections, little different as to other who put them at the end of the video.
Glad you liked the way I did the stills I hope others enjoyed them as well. Thanks for watching!
Cool! How much ore is left in these mines?
Great question, I'm sure there's a fair bit left but there's a reason they stopped their endeavors.
Hi Jerith, that was one cool mine explore, thanks for stopping to check out the artefacts left behind, some people just whizz straight past them which is a shame.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
Many artifacts to be looked at in this one. I couldn't imagine not stopping to take a look at them. Thanks for watching Sue it's greatly appreciated!
@@WesternMineDetective You're welcome. x
Old dynomite is very lethal.☠️
20:28.... Possibly Lee Whiskers White....from G 5 37, meaning June 05, 1937. G would be the sixth month.
Brooms could be used to put grease on rails & wire rope.
Hires Root Beer Bottle - July 1937 with the type of label that you found.
Cool!!
Amazing mine #thx
Thanks for watching!
@3:47 - You show us a Muck Sheet ( in good condition ) and yet no others were apparent in the areas of the mine that you showed us , as the piles of Dirt & Rock burying the Rails testify . Lol . Also , you do realize don't you , that those scraps of Newspapers are what the Miners used for ''Toilet Paper'' .
Then you find the devil straight after 9-11-36
I believe that was 1899 not 1848
I like to see the rest of the Mind
Tax stamp (blue)
EL DIABLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The Burge shovel at the end of the video you found was made starting in 1888 and the company is still in business today in KC Missouri....glad you're finding dates on stuff, but look for a date on EVERY Dynamite box you find, mostly because that will tell you how early the mine was worked but also because NONE OF YOU explorer's do that!!!!!!!
Handling that stuff is a bad idea
Cope snuff these were real men
Most definitely! I've found a few Cope snuff tins they're always cool to see.
