Ken, if it had been me, I'd have kept that all together. One piece, take it loose where the box is the closet. There cut it off right there and put you another plug at the end where your 2 foot is so you always have a piece of electrical down there below your 2 foot where you're going to stand in there on the one end next to your box. And that way, you always have extra power.Somewhere when you need it
I'm jeealous Ken ... I wish I had space like that to make a mainline layout. I live in an apartment and my wife won't let me take over the livingroom 😭
Can you build a table set up for your train. Hang it on a chain and pull it up to the ceiling to move it for your wife. Deco the bottom to makw a nice ceiling cover for your lovely wife. L.O.L. Might work.
@@evalinawarne1337 years ago, we did similar so we could use the same table for both trains and slot-cars, which seemed to be more of a rainy day in the spring / fall kinda thing.
When I was very small we lived in an apartment as well. Every Christmas, my Dad would take the dining room chairs into the living room and set the train platform up on them. I have to believe we had Christmas dinner at the kitchen table! Tom
I turned my outlets ground down as well no code on it. Except underneath a sink, they can’t face up ⬆️ collecting water 💦 😂. Good idea for this next build!
You are creating an interesting design for your train(s). Of course when Ken builds it, a person knows it will be strong. . . . it reminds me of Bob the builder. . . . can Ken build it? . . . yes he can!
Looks like a great start. I wonder if it would help to avoid disappointment if you use a planning software like SCARM to design a track plan which you can modify whichever way you want before laying track and having to rip it out again...
Good morning KEN. This is fantastic train table and layout. Looking forward to seeing your painted building after your knee replacement/ P.T. ❤🙏🙏🙏 SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ken, when I built a layout platform, I used the "L" girder concept. Made from 1 x 2's and 1 x 3's. The nice thing about this design is that the dimensions supports can be adjusted with no problems with sturdiness. The other thing was applying a layer of sound control to keep the track noise down. Lighting with Led's really help with structures. A control panel on the side of the platform to control everything. The walls should be painted a blue color for sky treatment. Good luck.
BTW Ken, the noise control is Homosote. A layer of this on top of the platform is great for attaching the track, drilling holes for lights and their wires.I even cut out for a stream.
Awesome! So exciting 👏 will Kaiya have her space under the rail line again? If not, good storage for all the train boxes and supplies and then wrap fabric around for skirting.
Build a keyboard like draw for your train controls. When pushed in (under the table) controls protected and out of the way. Use velcro strips to attach controls to bottom of drawer
I had a Shelty male dog that would do the same thing to a sprinkler and my riding mower. He would wait till I hit the key and he would attack the front tires. LMAO at him!!
Electrocution will get views! 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for about inspiring video. Today I just started on a 15x13 layout. I'm copying and modifying an older mining layout.
Hi it looks good if you have some time go on your phone and look up track plans for HO layout,s. From Neil schwerdt in west valley city Utah MRL / man😊
Looks great Ken it's always fun to get the shelf completed and having a blank slate to lay the tracks!! One thing I would say from building several layouts myself. 3 feet deep sounds good but everyone eventually backs that distance off to about 2 feet 6 inches or less because it becomes annoying to reach so deep into the layout while you're modelling lol. Can't wait to see you build it.
I’m really looking forwards to this new layout taking care of those knees getting older has its drawbacks if I get down or fall I often need help to get back on my feet I was born at start of ww2
Hey, Ken, think about this where your holes are take out each one of the boards where your holes are and put angles across your other boards underneath to where you can have your hose totally open and then that way, just like you did in the center there and on so you'll be able to utilize those holes. But if you put up 45 angle across each corner, you'll still be able to have a supported weight in the corners around the circle. You see what I mean
Interesting design! Looks like it should be more accessible to work with!!!
Might have to bring the women folk in for colors and scenery.

Thanks I may still do that
I love Kaiya's fascination with things that you are doing and always being able to entertain herself. Such a sweet dog.
Thanks. She is
Hi Ken I can see your fur baby supervisor is making sure the table is made right ! Very cute lol !
Haha she’s a great supervisor

Enjoyed watching you build that new train table - good job for sure. Kaya is such a fun doggy :)
Thank you 🤗. She sure is
I used some Luan strips to finish off the edges of my track. Looks snazzy!👌
Hey that’s a good idea

Good morning Evalina! Thanks
Your welcome.@@Kens265
Would a couple more outlets (just in case) be helpful?
Maybe. I could add some later

Wow. I think we’re pretty much on the same page. Thanks

Oh. Good ideas. It may be a smaller pen for short stays
Ya, locking up the supervisor for long periods at a time isn’t a wise choice. Hahahahaha! 😂
I'm with you on the ground plugs down!!!
I’ve heard the explanation why they do it but I still don’t like it
Cool Video! Bigger & Better! Can't wait to see what you're going to do!
Thanks me too
This layout is going to be great. I can tell.
Thanks. I’m pretty excited about it

Hahahaha. Sounds familiar
bigger is greater 🙂
Haha yes it is!
Whoa whoa whoa! That’s gonna be awesome. Next thing you’ll be connecting both train sets with tracks through the shop
That would be cool! But probably not feasible
You need a much bigger shop.
Hahahaha true
Can’t wait for the train 🚂 to be up and running Ken maybe 🤔 this time you’ll be able to enjoy it with Kaiya 😮😊❤
Thanks me too
Ken, that's going to be EPIC!! I love the U-shape.
Thanks I’m excited about it too
Did u check the level on the first 2x4 you put on the wall. It does not look level neither did the chalk line maybe it was just the camera angle.
Yes it should be good
@@Kens265 great i figured u checked it
Much better Ken!
Thanks
Painting the wall green? Built in green screen
Right. Haha
this is going to be a fun project!!
It sure is
May you get 10,000 subs subbed.
Thanks I appreciate it
