I live just 20 Kilometer away from Böker in Solingen. Therefore I often drive there for a short shopping tour. And I see the handmade Solingen knives. Hunting knives with stag handles or old oaktree handles from the roof repair of castle „Schloss Burg“. I feel so pity that in America you don’t see so much from these classical knives. They are so beautiful. So much „must have“.
New MSRPs by Boker USA are nuts. I am located in Germany. Böker pretty much ramped up with the trend. Price for new Harsey dagger is crazy. We are talking N690 on the blade.
This is a trend at the show so far, everyone besides perhaps OKC and cjrb is going wild with pricing, just look at the Benchmade and buck videos, ridiculous.
Yea come on guys. 115+ for D2. I'm ok with like $20 bucks extra for a great design. But most D2 blades are around $50-60. No D2 blade should b over $100 ffs.
Look st QSP, primarily D2 and g10/micarta all priced where such knives SHOULD. Boker being a huge company should be able to push prices down, not the opposite.
You're right about the D2. Funny thing is that there are so many negative comments here about D2 and yet these knife makers keep pushing it over and over again with new knives. But I guess someone is buying all this stuff. I have exactly one knife with D2 and that's more than enough.
10:05 I love it when the front flipper is more like on top, so I can do the comfortable and easy "lighter-flick" with it, very similar to the LRF, also from Böker Plus (which you can also easily flip with your index finger).
@Anthony Fashona right? Probably 440A or something. Yeah I dont call D2 an upgrade and Ive turned down so many knives simply because they were D2. Not saying D2 is trash, but there's so much of it out there it's pretty easy to find $30 and under D2 flippers out in the market that just because you have a name people recognize doesnt change the fact you're probably using a chinese tool steel for your blade.
I Have the gnome already for several years. But not this cotton plastic version but stag version. „Süßes kleines Scheisserchen.“ No, I don’t give you the English translation. Sweet little ...
I know inflation sucks and I DO love D2 but over $100 for D2 and G10 knives. I just picked up a sturdy D2 and micarta knife doe $20! So sad to see these 'legacy' knife companies losing so badly to all of the Chinese manufacturers.
Boker has a lot of nice designs but, bring left handed, it's often a little frustrating. I'd really like to see reversible pocket clips become more of a common option and less of an occasional special feature in their knives.
I can't afford expensive knives and have bought 5 low and mid price range Boker knives and have been quite disappointed by their fit, finish, and action. No more.
SamoSaur might just be my first slip-joint, and my first D2. Böker plus knives are a bit hit and miss. I love the LRF so much, I have 4 of them. Every other Böker Plus knife I own is barely usable. Neither the Bonfire nor the Excalibur correctly lock up. I ended up in hospital with severed nerves (still no feeling in one of my fingers) due to the dysfunctional Excalibur ;( Let’s hope the SamoSaur is a winners.
I love the look of the Samo Saur but the specs are just so unimpressive for $114 for a D2 slip-joint. Given David's silence, I don't think he has many good things to say about it!
That bigger blade (epicenter?) towards the end is nice, but come on? That price? Also with the Camaro one, gorgeous knife, but one stud is just so cheap and no flipper...
Im glad he mentioned the "made-in" in some of these because I wouldn't go for China knives. I'd go for Taiwan though because IMHO they are better made than 80% of China knives. Depending on the price when itsy released, I'd really like to add that Trapper into my wishlist.
If Boker would improve their QC and price their stuff accordingly, they'd sell way more knives. $150 for a micarta and D2 knife is insane. D2 and even 154cm do not deserve a price over $100 like they are charging. Kizer sells 154cm blade steel knives for $60-80 and their fit n finish is way better than Bokers.

13:00 And THIS is why I love it when the steel type is being put onto the blade to see!
HUGE win with the TRPPR.
I think their knives look nice but let’s face it most of us ain’t clearing 60 bucks for d2 on much of anything
You got that right. The knife world is world is infested with an over abundance of over priced D2 knives.
Those fingers tips have seen better days
...$115 for a D2 and G10 slip joint? What is going on guys? That's way too damn expensive for the materials used, plain and simple.
I want that scalpel been waiting for a classy scalpel that wasn't 300 dollars

Yeah the one at 6:45 is a D2 micarda liner lock with thumb disc only, for $115. Sorry, no. It shouldn't be more than $60.

I really liked that first knife though. I guess I'd pay up to $150 for it.
@@twatmunro yeah that one had the materials to justify it at least.
@Twat Munro woah! Just checked its price. $412 is just dumb.

Over $40 for 440A steel is laughable.
How do I sign up to pre-buy that first knife? Boker Trapper? The rep spelled it TRPPR.
It's over $400 dude.
the first knife is beautiful.
Tht reate made knife and limited kwaiken is fireee
That first knife deserves a better name than TRPPR and we deserve a more realistic price but the specs and execution look amazing
Did I miss the price on it?

sorry guys but "upgraded with a D2 steel" is not at all impressive anymore
“Upgraded” with D2 steel??? What was it made from before?! TIN?
Why would you want d2? Ever try to sharpen it in the woods? Plus it's too brittle

better than my GPA
Right. This year I put four tires on my car.
Like the Magnacut trapper and the Reate knife but they need to get over this $140 D2 phase they have. Nobody wants that.
Excellent!
Some nice choices. As usual.
My wife picked up the Kalashnikov black widow and it's badass, first boker I've put my hands on. I have a video of it
