- Welcome to The Painted South! In today's video, I'm taking you with me as I shop at my local Antique Malls, Consignment Shops and Thrift Stores! I'll show you my fabulous finds after each store and the price I paid for each item. I hope you enjoy this style of video. I always appreciate your wonderful comments and suggestions, so please be sure to comment below and give me your opinion. I try to respond to each one as soon as I have time to do so. I am so humbled by all of you who take the time to watch my videos, give a thumbs up and leave a comment as well. The holiday season is fast approaching, so I will have a few more videos for you before I start my Christmas Decorating and DIY series on around November 1st, 2019.

I agree. But have to say the shop should be ashamed to sell pinecones, & $1 each. They're all over for free.

Hi, this is the first time I have seen one of your videos. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. I love antiques but lately I have been caught up in the farmhouse style. "Shopping" with you at the antique malls brought back just how much I love the old pieces that are not painted. My living room, dining room, study, and foyer are decorated with antiques. I have a Hoosier cabinet just like the one in the kitchen room....I live in an old farmhouse.....we are renovating.....I just love it! The pieces you purchased are gorgeous! Thanks for taking us along😊
Thank you for taking us with you. I have three or four of the exact items your picked up! I will say I love your taste and choice of items totally beautiful! I have had several bird cages in the home over the years and now I have two that are set with silk greens and artificial little birds with ribbons looking like they are carrying them into the cage to add to their small nests. Love decor!
My sister found two gorgeous swans of ivory bone china near Seattle at some of her favorite shops and gifted them to me for my birthday a few years ago. They are medium size and have a place for candy or something in the back however I would be afraid to plant anything in them as they are dainty and I doubt they would hold up with constant care of a live plant. I love your lamp, and it reminded me of my two porcelain swans! I love the batten burg lace aprons, gorgeous! Love the oriental theme as well and I have a bit as my husband bought me home a couple piece of vases from VIet Nam which sit on carts with big wheels on the back. I treasure them as the beauty they are and the memory of it all! Thank you so much for sharing the lovely items with us, your selections are gorgeous and I love everything you selected!

I thoroughly enjoyed this..I have not been pretty shopping for years,as I am disabled and can’t get out like I used too..I loved places like these and Charity shops ..Uks version of Thrift stores but on a much smaller size..You brought some beautiful pieces .I loved the Angel candle sticks,the bird cages and most of all those wall arts they were so pretty and dainty with the tiny flowers on them..So thank you for my day out 😀
I miss shopping in places like yours. There are NONE where I live. I used to live in Seattle where vintage and antique store were everywhere. You could spend the entire day going from store to store. Sometimes I feel pretty depressed about it, because finding those wonderful treasures is so much fun. The bright side, I'm not spending the money. 😜 Your shops are delightful! Thank you for sharing!

Yes to more videos like this! Sometimes, shopping in consignment/thrift/antique shops can be overwhelming to the point where you don't see anything. Your tips are really good, especially the one about taking a second lap. What treasure troves you have there at your disposal! And the prices were very good. I too thought that olivewood nativity scene was a steal, as was the coral/red settee for only $250. Wow! Thanks again for another great video.
I grew up in Centerville community. This was in the 50's and early 60's. Lived a short distance from the old farmhouse antique shop. I was just there last year. I love that old house and they always have great items. I just came across your channel and I subscribed. Love everything you purchased so much. The swan light was beautiful.
Thank you for the wonderful tour. I am unable to shop anymore due to age, so I love to look and wish. So many neat things to see. I loved the little golden carved bird at 11:52. Just something small but it caught my eye. The nativity set was unbelievable and such a good price. Liked everything especially the rooster lamp with the fantastic shade. Being European I would have bought half the stock of the first store you visited. My eyes were everywhere, I couldn't believe people had parted with some of those things. Incredible the treasures you find in thrift stores. Southern Roots was definitely the best store for me.

Another great thrifting Haul. Can’t wait to see your transformations! I enjoy up cycling items that would otherwise be considered trash to others but I also like to give new life to items like you found today.

Hi. I am new to your channel and I'm having great fun "catching up" watching. I love to find old items that resonate with me. My Grammy Tucker loved swans. She was an artist and she had such an eye for exquisite decor on a shoestring. Oh how I wish she had painted a swan. I now have the majority of her oil paintings. Mostly flowers. I'm not much of a shopper but that was very interesting. Some great items, I really liked that mantle at about 12:20 or so..wow the Angel's are very special. I would have jumped on those as well. The album's made me a little sad, missing those days, brings me back in time...I have alot of vintage albums, hard to part with, but getting to the point in my life where I'm going to have to let some things go...have a great day!

My favorite 2 of your finds were the swan planter lamp and the mirrored bird cage. I will be on the lookout for these 2 items. I love them.

Yes, really enjoyed the shopping trip!! What you picked out is fabulous. When the green planter on a stand came into view, I wanted to reach out and get it. LOL. Great finds again, and looking forward to the next video!! I'm hooked. I have been looking for a video that I thought was yours, where you made a couple bird nests. One was from a dollor store bowl. I went and got the bowl but can not find the video. Please mention which one it was, I'd like to see it again and make a similar item. So many times less is more. I'm glad there are young people like you who appreciate the treasures from those who are no longer with us.

I'm having my 5th grandchild in April. My daughter will be staying with us for awhile. I LOVE your style. We will be turning our upstairs loft into a mini nursery & our daughter will be using her old room. Without making it look too babyish but with a french country twist I'd like to decorate the room in that style. If you have any tips I'd love to hear or see them. I love the updates you did in your previous videos by painting the items. I love using whites, greys & plum colors in my decor.

That serving dish, you missed, reminds me of a Walmart line....I collected similar, from that line....you might luck out looking on their website...I think they have made things, to match it, through the years.... really cute pinecones and woodland creatures (deer etc) on the dishware and tablecloths to match. Has a very retro feel.

I just recently discovered your channel and I'm enjoying seeing your videos. The Old World/French country look is my décor preference, too. I was drooling over so many of the items you showed on your meanderings throughout the stores lol. Many of the home décor channels I subscribe to are already posting nothing but Christmas décor videos, so it was refreshing to see something else for a change. Weeks of Fall décor videos, followed by weeks of Christmas décor videos gets old really quickly for me. There's just so much of that I can realistically do. I'd much rather see ideas on year-round décor. Keep up the good work.

Hi Deborah , just found your channel and it's great. Nice to see what's for sale outside new england. I wanted to tell you the iron Christmas tree candle holder is from crate and barrel. I have one that I bought from them, they styled it with glass Christmas ornaments hung on the horizontal wires with the candle lighting them up!

I've been to a place in VA that looks at exactly like Southern Roots. We went during the 100 mile Yard Sale the 1st Saturday in July every year. .I've been for the last 4 years now. I have a single birdcage in natural tone just like the double one you found. I've had it for over 20 years.
What I love about shop with me videos is you can see things in them you would have missed shopping in the store, because you just can't see everything!
I do love aprons everytime I see them in places like Marshall's and Homegoods but I never buy the pretty ones, just the utilitarian ones and the chineses style that covers you like a dress.
Omgoodness, I would love to go on the 100 Mile yard sale!!! I would need an enclosed trailer! Lol. Where does it start? You are so right, you can't see everything and sometimes our eyes pick up on other distractions and we miss the good stuff hidden away! Thank you for your comment. Nice haul and great finds. My favorite pieces of all shown is the scoop, the dogwood plaques, the birdcages especially the mirrored one (I knew you were going to get that), the metal vase, the gold mirror, and that white swan alone will make a great backlighting piece. Thanks for sharing.

Just found your channel. It was nice to see some antique stores in SC. My area (tourist) doesn't seem to have many. I saw a few things that I would have liked to have. Where I was from in NJ, there were quite a few, so it's nice to see where there are some down here.

The prices on the furniture are amazing! Your swan lamp would have went on top of a tv in the 1950's. It is very pretty!
Those are all some of my favorite haunts! When I go to Apple Dumplin, I stand upstairs at the railing and look down on all the booths; I’ve discovered hidden treasures that way! My very favorite new (to me) place is Mainly Antiques in Easley. It is huge, clean, the prices are GREAT, and they get in lots of new stuff all the time. It’s near the intersection of Hwy 93 and Hwy 123 in an old manufacturing plant.
The hand carved olive wood nativity from Israel is a STEEL for $59.99. We were in Israel two years ago and you would pay that amount for just one figure of that quality. If it was still available I'd drive to Anderson, SC as I live in NC. Good items for sale and reasonable prices too, love it!
Yes! Friend pd. $50 for cartoonish Nativity Scene because lot of pieces. This one gorgeous. Looks $300.

I believe that your swan lamp is from the 1950s and is a TV lamp/planter. This style is a bit more unusual than the black panther or cat with the fishbowl that you see everwhere. It is a really pretty piece and a great find!

I can’t remember seeing my granny without an apron on. I inherited one after she passed away and I cherish it. The old cloth aprons and pinnies are the best 💕
