This May not seem exciting for the better pilots, but for myself to be able to have help and when I start feeling comfortable to switch to excerpt and possibly pull off some of this , WINNER THANK FOR SHOWING IT off
great little scale bird there and love all the armory on it too also flies quite well in both the modes can't go wrong for the price for that quick after work fly at the local park .... cheers for sharing this Dom .
Thanks Andrew. Surprised how well it flew and no doubt that's down to the stabilisation system. Quite clever. At just over £50 I think it's good value as well considering how much scale detail it has. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
i flew two batterys on beginner mode with my skyraider next time i will try expert mode .1 question : in expertmode when i relaise the sticks will it stabilise the skyraider automaticaly to horzontal or will expert mode only counter turbulances ?
Great review.. I've been looking at the planes in this series and they seem a pretty good value for money RC fun plane option to me.. I've looked at all the planes and the A-1 skyraider is now. top of my fun plane list.. I think I love it because it's a good flying unusual warbird... thanks for your great informative videos..it really is appreciated.. kind regards Dave 😁
good demo of beginner vs expert mode .this ORX flight stabilisator is amaizing good ! i dont understand why some peaple had problems with it i think you have to fly it without as3x or safe receivers .just basic spectrum like ar620 work perfect for this orx plane !
Awesome video, and written explanation of the set up. Do you have to use a a spectrum receiver with that gyro? Or can you use any brand receiver and tx?
Yes. Should do. Look toward end of the manual here for info on channels needed. cdn-global-hk.hobbyking.com/media/file/a/1/a1_skyraider_manual_v1_edited.pdf
They same as connecting to any other receiver Walter. I use Spectrum and just plugged each of the 3 pin leads into the normal primary control surface and throttle channels with exception of the stabiliser lead which you need to put into an auxiliary channel which should be configured to a 2 position switch. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
If it can survive take off and landing at this bumpy strip it can survive anything. It's not our preferred site for this type of model but it was only place I could get a cameraman to shoot it flying. Yes...that prop won't survive many nose overs so spares will be essential RC! I just checked and they do spare blades and hub. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
@@EssentialRC HK does have spare props and I ordered several. Came from China. As a side note the plane flies just as well if not better just using 2 props or a prop saver and 2 blade plastic prop. At least if you break one or 2 blades you aren't out of business.
You plug the ORX lead into a separate channel in your receiver. You could use Gear channel or AUX1, etc. Map that channel to a 2 position switch on your transmitter.
No. It's a separate module that is included with the model. It is already in the model and connected to the servos. You plug the wires from the stabilisation module into your receiver. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
@@EssentialRC I found them at General Hobby. They have the pnp TOP Race version wich is identical to the HK version minus the gyro. Hobbyking is always back ordered on spare parts.

For a review it would have been nice to learn what battery you used, where it was placed and where the CG was?
I've been looking at this and the tempest I may just get both. Great video.
You should!
Tempest an Skyraider are the Two best Flyers in the series so far.
Beauty Glyn.

I thought I could Fly this Toy great?
Sick Stuff Dom,, Awesome Display Mate!

Looks to be much better flyer than the Tempest!

can i make beginner mode more agressive ?double the rates ?
it would be nice if this skyraider hàd intermediate mode little more angle like 55 % turn left and right .
hi there, can you plz do a vid on how you connected the rx to the gyro,i have never used a gyro before.thx mark from Doncaster.
Awesome video, and written explanation of the set up. Do you have to use a a spectrum receiver with that gyro? Or can you use any brand receiver and tx?
Any RX will suffice.
will this bind to spektrum receivers out of the box?
You can put a Spektrum receiver in it and it will work. That's what I used.
I like that, super! Thanks for posting.
Would this plane work with the futba 6l sport Transmitter it has a one switched channel
Yes. Should do. Look toward end of the manual here for info on channels needed. cdn-global-hk.hobbyking.com/media/file/a/1/a1_skyraider_manual_v1_edited.pdf
What flight time you got? (which battery?)
You tried the dji system on this one yet? I think it could carry it ok, no?
No. Too heavy.
Hello, what model of orx stabilizer? Because the beguiner mode is not bad
Is the plug on the plane for the 3S an XT60?
That is a epic little plane and it looks so real 👍😎
Just ordered one. I'm very excided! Can anyone tell me how to connect it to a Frsky sbus receiver? Nothing in the manual....:(

@@EssentialRCThanks for your answer Dom, but I meant a Frsky XM+ Micro D16 SBUS receiver. It has only three pins.
Hmmm. Not sure then. 1 signal pin per channel?
@@WalterWeidner I'm not familiar with Frsky stuff Walter. I'll pass this onto some of the others in my team to see if they can help.
@@EssentialRC I have connected my xm+ to the aux servo connector. It works perfect. Your mode switch is on ch5.
I fpv fly plane,,, do you think it could carry a micro fpv cam? Looks awesome
One of those micro combined cam/VTX FPV units? Yes it could carry the weight but you could need to cut up the cockpit to fit it.
Looks like a great little plane for the money. Although it survived this typical small tail-dragger landing, I hope HK stock plenty of spare props. 😁

How do you switch it to beginner and expert mode?
You plug the ORX lead into a separate channel in your receiver. You could use Gear channel or AUX1, etc. Map that channel to a 2 position switch on your transmitter.
great vid, how does it do the flight stabilization if you have to supply a receiver, isn't that tech in the receiver?
No. It's a separate module that is included with the model. It is already in the model and connected to the servos. You plug the wires from the stabilisation module into your receiver. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
When’s the next SR-71 build update Dom ? 😀
Just bought one! What-s the settings have you used on your TX like DX9?
3 position rates at 33%, 66%, 100% and 30% exponential. Same on all my models. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
What a lovely plane! Nice flying!
Which flight time do you get Out of a 3s 850mah battery If you fly slow?
6-8 minutes-ish
@@EssentialRC perfect, thanks a lot. Are there any warning when battery gets low? (Iflight planes let the Motor pulsing for example)
Essential RC what controller did you use?
Where can I get spare props?
Well eh maybe HobbyKing.com
@@EssentialRC they are backordered. I just ordered the plane. I will just fly it with 2 blades until I get spares.
