This game honestly hit me extremely close to home, about a year and a half back my girlfriend ended up taking her own life and I've struggled to cope ever since, everything I would look at would remind me of her and I tried to find comfort in self destructive things. After playing this game though, that final line really hit me close to home, where he says "I had a dream of my wide. She was dead, but it was alright." That really made me think about the pain I've endured this past year and it honestly helped me get through the trauma. I'm finally ready to let go and move on, and it's funny to me that a video game filled with clichés was what did it for me. Most people might find my feelings toward the ending goofy, but to me it was the push I needed to get over my own Payne. Not to mention, the game itself took every single aspect about the first game I loved and made it even better, the gunplay, the story, it's all amazing. I thought this would be a serviceable game to the series but it probably ended up turning into my favorite game of all time. Thanks for listening to my ramble, I figured someone might enjoy reading this or get some kind of assistance from knowing they aren't the only goofball who gets slife lessons from video games. Have a nice day guys.
Dude...you aren’t a goofball. Not even close. And trust me, video games have helped me in overcoming my fair share of life obstacles. In fact, it's video games that have inspired and motivated me towards a career in storytelling and film direction. Not movies! But video games. And yes, Max Payne games are the reason dark neo noir stories are my favorite genre of fiction. So whose the bigger goofball here? Definitely not you
@@titlasagna2172 We're all goofy in our own ways, but I'm always glad to know that it isn't just me. I hope that career works out big time for you.
I can't imagine how difficult it must be to.type that. You're very brave
Remember that who really loves you no matter what how Mona taught us, will come to save you through the fire! This is the part that almost made me cry. I never had a girlfriend, a partner who really loved me, so i wasted my time with person who just used me for their business and i believed they loved me. I was wrong! After playing this game after 20 years about (the first time I played it i was 4 and on the knees of my father) i learnt what I wanted and who i am. Sounds crazy but a videogame taught me that through the character of Mona.
@@titlasagna2172"There are only personal apocalypses. Nothing is a cliche when it's happening to you."
Better than Twilight
Top quality content as always mate! Max Payne 2 doesn't seem to get the love it deserves unfortunately, almost seeming forgotten at times. Great retrospective, once again giving me that itch to jump back into the series.
Thanks dude! I think the short length of the game doomed it to be obscure in comparison to the series. It's a great game though
When I first heard Max calling the sex talking like just so he can speak to someone, I literally busted in tears. It is such a tragic character. He won against the bad guys but he lost himself and lost the battle with life.
Max Payne: An action game, around the antics of a man consumed by vengeance that rampages through the under belly of New York coated with nors mythology.
Max Payne 2: A Noir Love Story.
May Payne 3: wHy dID i MovE HeRe...?
I think you got the wrong game with the max payne 3 one buddy
Max Payne 3: a drug crazed shell of a man drinks himself to death whilst attempting to find a final purpose in his meaningless life through something he knows best, killing bad guys to for the “greater good”.
Max Payne 2: a game not about a broken man learning to love again, but rather a fictional action hero learning the words of his story are written in advance, yes that’s a diss towards mp2.
@@killar1one max payne 3’s story’s so over the place that even your synopsis can’t justify it
@@killar1one *Max Payne 3 has an awful, horrible story. An absolute cringe-fest. An abomination. Blasphemy. An insult to human intelligence*
3 is by far tge weakest storywise but it's about Max putting himself in the worst situations and wishing for death, while getting everyone he is supposed to protect killed
I have recently started replaying the whole franchise. Love the games, a spectacular trilogy with a sense of finality for the character. Kudos for the video =)
Max Payne 3 definitely is still one of my favorite games till this day I can’t stop playing it. The story fit so well it gave a perfect send off to the series
@Jonathan Birch Way too many fucking cutscenes. The atmosphere was also lacking. Max as a character was preserved (for the most part) but a lot of the key ingredients found in the first two games were missing.
I think it was a decent send off. A great game but just a decent Max Payne game...
Stop what your smoking max Payne 3 was in two words shockingly shit
@@playz452 I only smoke cigars and Max Payne 3 is a good game. There’s a lot that Rockstar got wrong but overall it’s a solid game. Not on the level as the original two though.
@@playz452 Max Payne 3 had the greatest third person shooting and ragdoll physics in the history of gaming. Describing it as "Shockingly shit" is cutting the game short.
I never thought I would love this game as much as I did. I bought the trilogy mostly for the first and third not thinking much about the second so when I finished max payne 1 I was excited for the third one instead of the second I wanted to skim through this one thinking that it wasn't gonna be great but I was wrong, I loved it so much I couldent stop playing it and once I finished it I was just happy, feeling good. I thought the ending of the game was the best I've ending seen in almost any other games and I wanted to play it again. Now it's my favorite game of all time.
10/10 the sneaking DOOM Eternal soundtrack in there. Shit slaps.
I remember playing then games ages ago, despite never owning a copy, I specifically remember a bit in the opening were you shoot a goon and he flies against a shelving units that comes apart, I remember being like, "What is this wizardry?!"
They placed that shelf loaded with objects there just to flex that new physics engine. And unfortunately nothing in the Max Payne 2 soundtrack had some intense action in it, so DOOM just felt right lmao
I loved max payne 2! With all the remaster and remakes in this era i hope the max payne trilogy gets one. Great content as always bro keep it up!
Thanks dude much appreciated! A remake of the first 2 would be fantastic, the 3rd one holds up really well actually even today
ehm you can play this on any recent laptop from 2015 and beyond, and it will still LOOK great and play great as ever, no remaster is needed.
@@SuperHns Exactly! I don't like remakes at all. They're great for bringing some hype for the series but original games are always much better.
Now, like all my loves, she is mine forever...😭 The ending always gets me.
I adore the fucking sequel. For how short it all actually was, it sure left me a painfully longing impact! :((
I was very happy to see Remedy's storytelling abilities flourish in Alan Wake. I agree with you, it really is really their best game so far!! 🤍
I actually cried at the end even though something told me Mona was using me I still fucking bawled. So much impact for a 15yr old kid lol
I feel you bro. I started diving around my room in slow motion.
Just finished 1 and 2 and am working on 3. I'll be back to watch your review of 3 when I finish. But my favorite detail in 2 was going into the Rec Room while at the station. You can actually make coffee and the other cops will thank you for making good coffee. Little things like that show me just how much these games were a labor of love, and it saddens me that so many games nowadays are treated as product rather than art. Remedy is currently working on an Alan Wake sequel and I need to check that out when it happens. Until then I'm definitely gonna try to check out more of their works.
Awesome video! Yes, that love hate relationship between Max and Mona was just so addicting. Will they or won't they? Not exactly Jim and Pam from the Office but still enjoyable 🎮🔫👍
Or Kevin and Phyllis
@@MrFunnyHandsInYourPants Wait. Did you mean Phyllis and Bob Vance? Kevin worked in accounting with Angela and Oscar
@@sayedistrending nope I meant Phyllis and Kevin lol
i like the face of max payne 1 more than the second one.. he just looked more badass and cool in the first game
Max Payne 2 is my favorite of the series I loved Mona sax and I thought the story was more dreary and the Noir tone was more rich in part 2. I still play it at least once a year and it's probably my favorite 3rd person shooter out there. I also think it's a great romance story.
i don't quite understand man... looking at the video title i waited for some in-depth characters analysis, maybe some thoughts about that *love story*. but in 1st half of the video you just listed the facts from basic game story and in 2nd half you saing something about gameplay and tech moments... don't get me wrong, video is still like interesting but here's nothing about that "greatest love story" i think
That's a fair point. I tried to emphasize that after Max defeated his foes in the first game he had no purpose to live for and Mona Sax filled that void, and even though the game didn't have any crazy advances in gameplay or mechanics compared to the first, the storytelling is a high point in gaming and the fact it's focusing around a love story was something I found really interesting. This isn't my best script, it was very rushed so I understand the critique, thanks for the feedback either way my friend.
The world was out of joint. I was hallucinating.
9:47 watching the guy doing a poo in the toilet haha. Great video my friend I love the max Payne videos. Can't get enough of bullet time it's always so cool to see.
Thanks dude! There's one more to come, ol Max makes his way down to Brazil haha
@@MrHammers hammer got to hit that final nail! Haha can't wait!
You need more subs wtf
It was recently discounted on the xbox store, so I took the bite and daaaayuuuum it's an amazing game, even in 2022 😍
It's a masterpiece
The cleaners are probably one of my favorite ennemy faction in any video game ever. They are not that smart but they are organized. Some of them stood out from being generic bad guys (The ones talking, dancing, playing piano etc.)
Dont forget those who thought pile of boxes would fall over them in the horror house segment.
They're not really cleaners, they just wear out the costume for vanishing their killer personality.
What's the song used in the intro? Cant place where I've heard it before
...love story which was completely retconned and dropped in the third game. Fucking shame
Do you intend to talk about Control?
Great content btw, just subscribed 😊 Waiting for that max payne part 3 😂
Thanks bro! I did a smaller video on control a while back talking about the intro to the game. Once all the dlc I out for control I so wanna take a look back it for sure
Oh ok, i'll be waiting for that too
Glad to hear! Thanks for dropping in
1:39 Vladimir lem is founder of cleaners its his hidden organisation btw he is not targeted
Mona attempted to kill him for Alfred Woden, which is why Vlad had his arm in a cast.
Phone sex is weird enough. Trying to seek emotional confort in it is just... I'm sorry for Max at this point...
Sometimes I wish remedy made max Payne 3, sometimes i wish it ended here, but all 3 are great in their own way
If the first 2 games weren’t backwards compatible I would’ve never been able to experience them
they really shouldn't have changed max's face as much as they did
but is the face of the voice actor.
I was high off painkillers all throughout my first playthrough so i related to max
Beautiful game.
Great video glad I found your channel
Much love, thank you!
I really liked Max Payne 2, but Vladimir's connection to Woden and his betrayal never sat right with me. Sometimes I wonder if this was a part of why the game was not the success Rockstar was hoping it would be.
Nice shoutout to Alan Wake. That game has such wonderful design and it always bummed me out to hear people complain that you couldn't just shoot things.
I think The reason why Max Payne 2 wasn't a success is because they changed Max's look, a lot of kids in my school were mad about it when the game footage was released. and it's totally understandable. Sam Lake was Max Payne at that time and probably still is.
.
it's like making a new John Wick movie without Keanu Reeves. even if the movie is the best in the series, people will be turned off for of the absence of Keanu.
I just played through Max Payne 1 and 2, and while I appreciated how 1 was groundbreaking for its time, it didn’t age too well for me and the gameplay was frustrating at times. This game was a huge step up in my opinion, right from the beginning. The story hooked me more than I expected, and I found myself immersed in its world wanting to know what would happen next. This game blew me away even in 2024 and I won’t forget it.
Shadow Of The Colossus is the greatest love story in games history
Max Payne 2 is hands down the best game i ever played. Top 5
Best dialogues and tv shows ❤
Alan Wake was probably one of the best video games I've played storywise. The gameplay left a lot to be desired, though...
I getting sick of Take 2. Cause they saw what gta 5 made and still is making. Max manhunt or to even another gta game but we got RD2.
I had a dream of my wife. She was dead. But it was alright. Best ending ever.
Great channel
What’s the song used around the 6 minute mark?
ALAAAAAAAAAAAAN WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Sir, you have a subscriber. Great content.
It would be the greatest if silent hill 2 never came out
Still the best payne game
Man a new max Payne game by rockstar would be something we need but I doubt but with Dan houser having a new studio mabey it could
idk if I'd like another max payne game
he seems to finally be in peace
What would the game be about exactly? Max fishing abroad? lol
In my opinion Max Payne 1&2 should get remastered.
I'd be in jail if being an asshole was a crime... I am one proudly.
just dont cross the wrong one.

Bro u complimented how this game has a “little glimmer of light” with max ending the game practically saying he found peace in his wife’s death, but do u not find it pretty ridiculous he was over the ptsd of his wife’s death because another close female partner of his tragically dies? Why would that have a positive/ rebirthing affect on his life?
Because after he got revenge in MP1 he still had a void in him and he couldn’t connect with another human being and was still haunted by the loss of his family. When Mona shows up, he associates his feelings with her for wanting of a human connection that he misses with his dead wife. His relationship with Mona is toxic but makes him feel alive again and when she dies at the end, holding her and saying goodbye allows him to spiritually say goodbye to his wife as well and let go of that trauma and finally make peace with it, hence being reborn.
I can't fully agree...love story isn't much for Majima story, simple but perfect in simplisity spyro/cynder brolovetionship or even relations in pyre
Strong point of this bromance...is fall of max payne... series even curse this in some points
This is mayby why suffering of Max back in Payne 3...because he almoust treated he's family for who murdered entire corporation and entered into cooperation with gangsters and secret societys...he even refferend to fact that he help fallen woman again in Payne 3...and who knows...mayby alternative ending is just extended ending
But fangom of Max remmaind shit what happen in from softwear fandom what hate big changes even if there is some concequences comming from works
Only one think for what about i miss is flamingo talking about mirrors and flesh of fallen angels:)
And Captain baseball bat boy as well...i talk about it more when i see your third material because mayby i miss something...or mayby you miss something
We find out soon
Wrong!
Revenant (1999)
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption (2000)
Metro: Exodus (2019)
These are just the first games that popped in my head (but they are more, trust me) - games that have a much better love story than the one in Max Payne 2. Now, don't get me wrong, i happen to actually be a Max Payne fan, but calling the Max-Mona love story the greatest in gaming (especially in the year 2020 when you have 20+ years of great games behind you) is just plain ignorant.
mmm no.
I think Mass Effect has the claim to fame in the romance department. Garrus, Liara and Tali specifically. 3 games of character development.
Yeah, it’s still the best love story in gaming
The Max Payne Trilogy is the most impactful, underrated and tragic video game series in video game history.
