    Grew up playing bladed irons and there was no feeling better than flushing a 3-4 iron from a fairway. I have tried different irons over the last 3 years and have not quite found that feedback yet . I have not tried the Srixon yet and will definitely try it . Good job boys .

    I recently changed to ping irons (from Srixon) and went for the increased performance of I210 (based on my fitting, number and my requirements ) I have tried the I59, and while it is gorgeous there is definitely not nearly £600 difference in value (59/210) and definitely not between ping and Srixon. both are quality irons but think Srixon are serious contenders with mizuno as the best forged blade on the market.. 👍👍

    I've been a Ping player pretty much forever with the exception of a recent driver purchase BUT you can't ignore the price point. It's crazy! I don't know who these are aimed at but they aren't setting themselves up to succeed. Great review, chaps 👍

    I really like the comparison between a scratch golfer and Lee who I assume is single figure to low teen handicap - it’s great to see the different impressions between two different handicap players which no other channel really offers. DH, your course vlogs are the best around for me but these videos are also invaluable as I don’t know any other channels who include “the average golfer” (no disrespect to Lee of course, I enjoyed his input here greatly). Also completely agree with your point on ending up short with less good strikes DH. Some people want to aim long of the pin as most amateurs end up short, but others see long as “dead” more often than not. I’d rather be short personally as I can allow for that miss as more often that not you can see what’s short of the green. Long is often a lottery and it’s a case of better the devil you know for me! Lee’s point about going to a pure blade style club to improve strike is an interesting one too. I’ve been considering doing the same but I think you have to play very regularly to enjoy the improved strike training more than forgiveness when you’re only ever on the course once a week or once a fortnight. Different schools of thought make it a very interesting discussion though.

    I love the review from both of you and the honest take,I’m someone who goes on looks and feel as well but truthfully I’ve not looked at either club 1 because I’m not in the market for new irons and 2 when I’ve gone into golf stores I’ve not looked at them as I’m not sure they were out the last time I went in to one.
    But I will certainly take a closer look when I’m in one. But I do have too say just looking at them on the screen I do prefer the ping because of the glare in the sunshine ☀️ when we get it lol and if either of them came in black I would certainly be drawn straight to them and as for price we’ll that’s always a cause of concern

    If I was good enough to use blades then I would probably choose the Ping’s but that’s because the first irons and driver I was fitted for were Ping’s and I haven’t really looked at any other manufacturer with a view to “jumping ship”.

    I hope the new Srixon blade this spring has the heel notch to match my new zx5's & zx7 4-7 iron. That's the plan to complete this new flow set. Also, my Hogan Icons are the best value for $ IMO. Can get a 7 piece set of HOGAN for the cost of 3 ping I59 clubs.

  • @Automation_Control_Tuning
    @Automation_Control_Tuning 3 года назад

    For looks it would be the Ping. cost is a factor and is hard to justify, but I would still pay that extra if they felt the best and the numbers backed it for me… the cost over 3 years which is what I would expect a set to last me is not going to worth worrying about. But that is just my approach. Great review gents.

    I’m a Ping fan with i210’s currently and I was seriously interested in the i59 but that price is ridiculous! I would go Blueprint if I wanted Ping blades especially when you consider you can get Lynx forged blades with KBS shafts for around £500 if you MUST have a blade on a budget!

    Well done boys. IMHO I like how Ping have shaped the Blueprint and this i59 with a higher, sharper toe just like the classic blades of the 50's 60's and 70's. The compact size of the face is very similar to the much lauded Miura blades, which is very appealing. Some people just don't want chrome finishes, my 1997 blades aren't chrome and after a while, it's difficult to actually look at chrome. I do have a question - the Blueprint is a modern blade and the i59 is a hollow body construction with an aluminium insert, what difference does the engineering of the i59 head make? Surely the engineering of the hollow body and aluminium insert is what you're paying for?

    For some reason that notch in the Ping hosel scares me. It looks like a potential weak spot to me. But no one ever talks about it, so who knows?
    Dan, I remember watching you play with the Ping 59 in a previous video, to be honest, it looked like you had a tendency to hook them more than what I normaly see from you. No doubt Ping is an expensive brand, which is always a big factor to me. Cheers from Texas. 🤠⛳🏌

  • @danapatelzick594
    @danapatelzick594 3 года назад

    The Srixon is apparently forged from a single billet of steel, for each club head there would probably be several tools (3?) used in the forging. The Ping looks like is it is made from multiple pieces of material, and then welded together. Each part would need 1 or 2 tools and then a tool for welding. Ping would need 5 tools versus 3 tools for the Srixon. Probably that cost difference you see is a functions of how much tooling is required to build each type/style of club head. This is a simplistic look and probably not entirely correct.

    Wow, how the market has changed and the cost of living in Ping's world is running at about 27% lol.
    Club manufacturers have basically taking the mickey out of us all. Not only have they hiked the prices massively but don't forget you can add even more marked up prices on the basis they sell even less clubs in a 'set' now. Either they go from Sand to 5 or pitching wedge to 4 and some even go from pitching wedge to 5.
    The difference in price of these two is staggering - think of it like this, most pro shops do a 30 minute lesson for £25, say you booked three lessons for £70, across a six iron set that is 18 lessons come free with the Srixon's!

    I find it interesting that Lee moved to blades as he didn’t want to be rewarded for poor striking? I have played various clubs over the years, hold a 1.6 handicap… however would take any advantage I could in order to be rewarded for a poor strike on any round. People generally move to blades either to be able to work the balls and gain consistency in distance, or people who want to appear better to than they are 😂

    £220 for an iron. No, no, no.
    The R&D is ongoing, these are not new revolutionary golf clubs - I was playing with blades when I started golfing as a kid in 1982 - that's all you could get hold of.
    The materials costs will be a about 10% of the RRP.
    The manufacturing costs will be miniscule.
    Unless you are very, very good, I think that the financial investment in the equipment could actually be a burden on your ability versus expectation.
