I am 92 hours in to my first playthrough with minimal guides/online help. I just got to the tornado island and also beat Astel.
This game has renewed my joy in video games. It's been a long time since I've not played a game from 2001.
I'm not in any hurry. Just exploring and trying to learn the lessons the devs want me to learn. I could go much faster with RUclips/reddit but I'm just vibin'

I've played 2 characters and gotten to like ng+5 I think. Every few months I just like to run through it because it's always good

Same, almost no game has held my attention to even complete it for many years. I'm over 300 hours into elden ring with multiple ng+ runs and all achievements. Just started another character yesterday because this game is just that good.
Awesome! Dont look up anything for your first playthrough, min max on all of them after . The game is so organically good it would be a shame for you to squander your own enjoyment for the sake of research. All games you haven’t played through once deserve the full no guide experience
This game is what seriously made me question live service gaming models. This RPG experience is unmatched.
It's matched and exceeded by literally any other open world rpg...

Don't give up, skeleton
Some weird but useful tips:
- Its more chess than skill
- Don't rush. Be patient. (you will be rewarded with *joy*, i promise).
- Take advantage of s. In a lot of instances you can even dodge _towards an attack_ (yup)
- NPC's are weird. From Software's games are obtuse and have... idiosyncrasies. They are *not* perfect (don't kill me From Software simps)
- Don't worry about runes. In fact, just have fun and don't worry too much about anything at all :)
Favorite game of all time personally.
DM's about to go down a dark and winding path of playing all the Fromsoft games. I cannot wait for Bloodborne and Sekiro.

If you can't find an opening with somebody that has a shield then just block their attack with your shield and it will cause them to briefly drop their guard and you Counterattack instantly after they hit your Shield
On PS5 alone I have 8 characters, about 30 playthroughs and about 900 hours. Also did all achievements on both Xbox and Steam Deck (runs it pretty well). This is an incredible game

Elden ring easily my fav game ever. I was addicted and now I wanna play it again lol
1 - you can only real dual wield weapons and use both at the same time if they're of the same type.
2 - use the uchigatana with 2 hands always (if not using shield), will damage more enemies poise (auto critical in the chest).

The fun graph here is VERY similar to Poe. I think it has less of a drop off, but remember that you don't HAVE to do just about anything in this game. You can always go elsewhere and it will probably be worth it. Hang in there and this game just gets better and better as well, although it doesn't maintain QUITE the same level of innovation all the way to the end. Damn close though.
Fair warning, Rogue builds can be difficult to play in Elden Ring (less armor, can't rely as much on a shield, lack of poise dmg to stagger enemies and if you use something like daggers you have no range) but they can do some very cheesy things.
One of my favorite things to do is use the Darkness spell to blind and backstab enemies, it doesn't always work but when it does it's hilarious. I haven't tried a dedicated bow build but I've heard they're very good. Always having a bow is a good idea regardless.
22:35 I've beaten all the Souls games multiple times and still struggle with those guys, they're just a pain.

Here’s a tip, make sure you’re actually two handing your weapon. Also, if you’re gonna use a katana, undead enemies like skeletons don’t bleed.

Elden ring is a completely barren and lifeless experience of an open world game, you do literally nothing but mindlessly kill lobotomized enemies that don't even talk and barely move, come across cities completely uninhabited, and npcs that are glued to position and have inorganic prompt based dialogue.
Not even mentioning the copy paste assets from other games...
Fromsoft couldn't do what other studios were capable of decades prior, which is just sad.

I still hate Fromsoft for equipping the vagabond halberd from the beginning. Thousands and thousands of new Players are fatrolling and dont even realize it
If you jump or fall off a ledge your runes will be where you fell off on the edge of the ledge lol and you should be leveling up with your runes every chance you get. You aren't going into the calid or however its spelled area way underleveled. Also killing the wrong NPCs is will get rid of their entire storyline
