In Picture Art Less is More but you have to define The More.
Like in portrait painting art like a Mona Lisa the More is Mona Lisa The Less is no trees no barns no farm animals etc.
The other thing not everyone is up to the artistic creativity to appreciate more more
But basic ears or artistic expression can be understood by the simple.
Example George Harrison “Something”solo the solo is not crowded with a boat load of notes but expressions of each series of notes

I’ve heard people use that quote against players like Yngwie, and leave it at “There’s too many notes. Just take out a few and it’ll be perfect.” My favorite part of the scene is when Mozart looks at the king and asks “… which notes should I take out?” to which the king has no answer.
It’s to show that the king doesn’t know what he’s talking about and just doesn’t want to praise Mozart more than Salieri.

@@isaiahmarquez9717 Different strokes. Amadeus has brought some attention to interesting historical figures that deserve to be brought to light more often, although too many of them, especially Bonno and the Emperor, are portrayed as idiots, which certainly was not the case. Even Mozart himself would be a far more interesting figure if we could get past the mythology - and although the movie makes ample reference to his childish humour, it otherwise does surprisingly little to bring him down to earth.

I'm sorry, but this is just awesome his expressions. I've heard him tell this story before. But his facial expressions and humor on this one had me falling on the floor with laughter. I've said it before all, and I'll say it again. A lot of people that think all you know, music has to be simple and it can't have too much. I mean, it's all about contacts if you look at the Baroque era of music in between about 1685 and 17 fifty, and Europe, it was a constant spinning out of notes, it was notes Galore. It was no doubt the butt because the idea was this perpetual motion of melodicism. It's later that the classical area era brought things back to a more simplistic approach. And even that had great music. When people are highly critical of English playing with the whole too many notes thing. It's because they're viewing all music through the lenses of pop music. They expect everything to be as simple as a Justin Bieber melody. And that's just historically not the way things were. I have a background in music history. So the whole it's too many notes, things just kind of irritates me. If you want to play list notes, knock yourself out, play list. No, it's, that's fine. There are some great, great simple melodies. But if you wanna play embellish flourishes of great spinning out of notes, then do that. More is freaking more, baby. That's what the h*** is up. Still the greatest guitar player in the world.

You can't really tell Yngwie Malmsteen to play less. You certainly aren't going to tell him "less is more" :D

Yngwie Malmsteen is exception where the rule "less is more" is not valid :)

Man, that joke is about 30 years old. It might be time to get yourself some new material, especially considering that Yngwie isn't really even very overweight. He's probably about average for his age.

He’s incredible, no doubt. But sometimes I do wish he’d play w more feeling and less about making it as many notes and as fast as possible
