Regarding smoothness vs crispness on routes (during the Egbuka discussion), the more I watch the great route runners in the league the less I care about a receiver's routes looking like a Tron motorcycle. Just getting to the right spot with the right time and putting yourself between the DB and the ball is really what matters. And if you do that with smoothness that is hard to read for a DB, packaged together with really consistent body language, a good sense of pace, aggressive stems, and a few different releases based on how the DB is lined up and what coverage you are reading pre-snap...that's kinda all you need. Ladder drills are great, but most good corners aren't reading your feet. They are reading the other stuff that takes more subtlety.
Different types for sure. Jerry Rice was on Tron rails. There are other greats like that as well. Then there's the Travis Kelce types out there reading defenses, smooth as butter, finding the soft spots. Watching him at camp every year, over almost 10 years, and I'm still always blown away how he just always gets open and crosses dudes up
I am a very casual college football watcher. I cannot fully express to you guys how much i value your opinions on these guys going into the NFL. Terrific content as always. Look forward to watching these on repeat all summer.
Man, this means a lot! We know we're not perfect with these evals, but I love how our process has evolved and continues to do so as the game does. We enjoy the draft cycle every year. Thanks for hanging out with us as we get these takes out
Yup. My pro team is the Chiefs so I couldn't care less about the crop of QB's coming out over...eh....the next decade. I don't watch college religiously these days dreaming of KC finally getting a franchise QB. We've got the goat. But man, we desperately need a LT, RT, DE, and finally some depth at CB. Now that they've moved the draft to PM time slots I don't have to burn my vacation to watch the 3 day event like I once did. I always favored HB's due to being a fantasy guy but my homework doesn't start for the draft until people whip out the Christmas deco...and these two just play well off each other. They should have a running pod season long.
He could potentially be a # 1 at the NFL level. Probably a 2nd or 3rd pick. I see a successful career for him. His partner Jaylin Noel is a sleeper at the next level.
i was witnessing the birth of my first child but then *BLAM* the SE Boys dropped their WR Pod. Needless to say, Jr. will now meet his father after a brief hour and 57 minutes.
Both Trevor and Connor's landlords have subscribed and hit the bell. Not because they are addicts but because they like to know when their checks are coming.
They're going to have to decide one day. Continue to pay the rent.... Or one day buy the yacht and flip their landlords off while sailing off on the USS ADDICTS.
dynasty fantasy guy tuning in (but basically an addict either way) - i like to soak in a wide range of opinions from folks coming from different angles
As avid NFL draft fan, it’s fun to hear how complimentary you guys are of Travis hunters ball skills because man you turn on the tape and it’s maybe the best I’ve ever seen
I came into this really only knowing those top 3 big names, but the dude that stuck out from these lists that was new to me was Jack Bech. He looks legit. Big, strong, fast, finds soft spots, good yac, good body control, and high points the ball. He looks ready.
These 2 guys are the best in the business. Just got done listening to the pod version. As a Pats fan I want Hunter or Tet at 3. Maye needs a weapon desperately!!
@@yesiam4610 Buddy, they probably have another couple wins if they had any playmakers on the team. Drake Maye makes the terrible O-line look passable for 90% of the game every week.
Love the show and love the detail, and this is def my favorite show of the year. It’s also the best concept of a show where I can pay attention to draft stock, while not feeling like an addict, but still being one lol. One number that may be hard to track (since it’s not popular), but may be important in the player build convo is BMI. Where Burden is 208 lbs, which is 65th percentile, but considering he’s 5’11, that 208 is similar to a 6’4 guy being 230. Where someone like Tee Higgins being 205-208, but being 6’5, would lead to him being a bit more slender than the height lets on. I know y’all understand it, but I know some viewers may not? Yo no se.
A WR show and no mention on of Nick Nash from San Jose State? He’s leading the country in most offensive stats. I’ve asked about him a whole bunch but would love to get an opinion on him. Also any worry with Savion Williams especially with drops that he will turn out like Quentin Johnston? Love the show!
I'm trying to temper my hype on him, but I like him a lot. Still want to see him be a more reliable blocker at his size. He also didn't face press a ton, and because of that I didn't see a lot of varied releases from him when he did. If he goes off at the Senior Bowl the hype train might be off the rails
Nick Nash - WR, San Jose St. I was watching a San Jose game because a local kid is on the team, and all I kept seeing was big catch after big catch from this Nash guy. Never did see the local kid in the game. Maybe it was Nash's best game ever, but if he plays like this each week, I wonder why I have not heard of him.
I really don’t like the Laviska hate. Kid never got a chance. Drafted by the Urban Meyer Jags and traded to the Matt Rhule Panthers. The problem with 80% of NFL teams is that they don’t know how to use guys the right way. Someone is 6’3 + and 215 lbs + they consider him an X. I can only imagine what would have happened if he had ended up with the McVays, Reids or Shanahans of this world. Obviously injuries also played a part but most people we give a pass for sucking with the Jags and Panthers of that time but not him. Breaks my heart since I’m a huge fan.
Cordarrell Patterson is the best case scenario I think for the majority of those players. Deebo had what looks like an insane, but brief pick. So, kick returners and RBs.
Tbf to Evan Stewart, he absolutely cooked Ohio State. 7 catches for 149 yards. He was also the game saver against Wisconsin on that fourth down catch to open the 4th quarter. There is an elite receiver in there somewhere
@@TampaBayTre curious to hear what you think about Tet on the Panthers. Could XL, Coker, and Tet coexist in the same offense? Great job on this episode, looking forward to FYF for the Panthers on Monday!
I love Ayomanor, I watched a couple of sit down interviews with this guy and I think NFL GMs are going to fall in love with his character and the physical tools are obvious. I don’t like how he lets the ball get into his body so much and I think that accounts for a lot of the drops but I won’t be shocked if he sneaks into the end of the 1st rd
Hey, I've learned something about who's who today. My #1 WR TETAIROA MCMILLAN is a MONSTER technician and winner. I see shades of Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, Terrell Owens in him. Hopefully the New Orleans Saints can complete their receiver corps and be able to select him. They really need that presence on the field. Plus they'd be SUPERCHARGED lethal on offense again. Great video 📸 guys.
Surprised no Matthew Golden. He’s a true Junior and just about every Texas game I watched this year he outperformed Bond who I really liked at Alabama. Was always the best player on the field at Houston. I expect him to return to Texas due to the crowded WR class this year. But curious where you guys have him ranked.
Cordarrelle Patterson is the perfect comp for Savion. Just get the ball in his hands whether it's catching passes, jet sweeps and gadget plays, direct snaps or hand offs in the backfield, or returning kickoffs which I think he could be lethal at with the new rules and his tackle breaking ability
Savion Williams has been my guy all season and it feels like no one is talking about him until you guys! I think the senior bowl and combine are gonna make him a real riser
love to see T mac at 1! Certainly a terrible way to look at prospects. But he was one of the few players that after a highlight reel, I was sold and didn't even feel the need to look further.
I thought I was going to like Ricky more than I did unfortunately. For as much production as he's earned over the last two years he was more hot an cold than I expected. His game speed wasn't as much of a constant as I wanted it to be. Smaller on the weight size and is low on contested catch percentage. Most of al I thought he lacked that NFL level twitch and explosiveness. Pretty good WR IQ, has some really competitive reps as a blocker, and that special teams experience. There's some good stuff in his scouting report as a whole, but I don't know how much he'll win just as a receiver.
Haven't watched yet, but I'm hoping there is mention of Darius Cooper out of Tarleton State. Small school receiver that is extremely fun to watch, and has good PFF grades throughout the season. Drop rate is a little concerning but the contested catch rate and the depth of target are all impressive! 😀

Good CB cues off the receiver's waist. WR cues off the CB's waist and feet. Drills... Lots of drills lol
This Brett guy sounds really smart.
