I've always like Blink of an Eye: it is the one where time travels faster on a planet and voyager gets stuck on something. Then becomes part of their culture. And it has Jin in it ;).
I can't believe the lack of love for the episode Course: Oblivion. It's one of the saddest and most disturbing episodes in all of Trek in my opinion. The entire team is slowly dying, the ship is falling apart, it's completely hopeless, and there's no "save the day" ending. Spoiler alert, everyone actually dies one by one, for good. It's heart wrenching.
I liked 7th season episode "The Void" very much. It shows how the UFP actually works and that if you do things together and share and combine your resources in the end you can achieve much more than any of the participant would be able to do alone.
Hated the Little Aliens and their chiming with the PADDS. If I there, I would have shoved them down their throats then spaced them. Otherwise, pretty cool episode. It's just a shame with all series, they could have something cool, but something else equally as annoying to counter it. Just Like having two stories in one episode, I could hate one and like the other. (You know main and Sub-plot).
Year of Hell, Equinox and Scorpion are Top 3. They are all what Voyager is about. Marooned in hostile territory without supply from home, struggle with keeping up the Prime Directive under very difficult circumstances, and being confronted with a seemingly unbeatable enemy.
You missed "Oblivion" where they all discovered they were the copies from the demon planet. Its the only episode that effects me emotionally as each character faces their own deaths.
Latent Image is one of my favourite episodes of Star Trek ever. It reflects on the nature of grief and gives us more insight into what it means to be an artificial lifeform when it comes to very human experiences like loss. Picardo is excellent as always as he makes the slow discovery that all is not what it seems, and the way the episode switches up from unlikely conspiracy to unfortunate tragedy is Voyager at its best.
Latent image was a good one. And, a lot of the doctor focused episodes could have been very different if Robert has not gotten the part. Originally, he went in and auditioned for the role of Neelix. He did the audition and that night, his agent said it wasn't going to work out, but the EMH role was still open. So, he went in and read his part. And, with what I think was the moment he cemented his place in the role, at the end of his audition, he turned to the casting directors and ad-libbed his own version that famous Star Trek line: "I'm a doctor, not a night light." He then got the part hours later.
Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy was great because Bob Picardo really shows off some of his skill as an actor, and episodes focused on the Doctor are usually really well done. I also loved Imperfection, where Icheb (imo the most criminally underrated character) risks his life to save Seven's when she is in imminent danger of dying due to her cortical node shutting down. It's a heart-wrenching episode that explores Seven's closest relationships on Voyager: with Capt. Janeway, the Doctor, Icheb, Neelix, even B'Elanna to an extent, as she contemplates death and the afterlife. Night was another great one, showing the crew in their lowest emotional state while also not coming off as totally bland and uninteresting.
I wish we had more stories set in the Night void, imagine the crew slowly unraveling mentally as they travels weeks, even months through this endless void. May be start the episode where we slowly seeing them come apart, with the doctor unable to find any cause other than the void, which as far as the doctor can tell is just a empty area of space. Then have the second episode start off with dark aliens attacks, but have the whole ship in darkness as the crew slowly fight off the aliens. An then third episode is the struggle to speak to the aliens and to close the spacial vortex that brought the alien barge into the area. With the crew genuine considers simply taking up the offer.
Clearwateralchemist WORST CASE SCENARIO imagine if the SESKA hologram got ahold of the EMH DOCTOR'S mobile emitter what fun and chaos would've happened
Instead of one of the ridiculous holo-novel episodes on your list, you should have added Season 6 episode 12 titled "Blink of an Eye"" where the ship gets stuck in geosynchronous orbit around a planet that rotates 58 times per minute and causes earthquakes on the surface. Time on the planet passes much faster than on the ship making for one of my favorite all time episodes of Star Trek (Also because the Doctor plays a pivotal role) Still a good list though, Thanks!
Go watch SF Debris' review of that episode, he heavily compares it to a hard sci-fi novel of some repute and basically says that this episode comes off worst.
It's called Dragon's Egg, by Robert L. Forward and it is sublimely told. It really is hard sci-fi and has a wonderful grasp on the evolution of an entire alien culture. There was a sequel called Starquake but the first one is the best.
This is exactly what I came here to say. Was always one of my favorites and when I re-watched it recently was delighted to realize that Daniel Dae Kim (Jin from Lost) makes an appearance in it as well.
You missed my favorite episode of Star Trek (of any series): "Death Wish". The first voyager Q episode which explored the topic of ending one's life on one's own terms. It was funny and thought provoking.
I guess he thought all the "Kes episodes "were average or crap. I think 4 or 5 of them should have made the list (which cheats with alot of 2 parters like Scorpion & Year of Hell).
I believe Death Wish (already mentioned above), Tuvix, Distant Origin, Deadlock (which I just watched again after over a decade), The Thaw & finally Before & After all hold up to repeated viewings. Voyager was the best Star Trek show in my opinion followed by DS9, TNG (the first 2 seasons plus the outdated special effects & makeup drag this one down for me= the dangerous fish men during Pulaski's time was just awful),TOS & Enterprise being ill conceived from the get go. Thanks 4 asking. Maybe you should do a top 10 Kes & top 10 Seven lists & let people way in on those. :)
No love for Counterpoint? Janeway not really fooled by a "reformed space nazi" whilst smuggling telepaths, similar to the Jewish situation in WWII. She outfoxes him with class.
for all the flak it gets, Voyager really did have some great episodes. Especially the two parters. Voyager did excellent two parters. Blink of an Eye would have made my list, too. Such a great story
I'm biased but I think it doesn't get as much flak as it used to. I remember being a teen online and reading bad reviews in "forums" back in the AOL days. Each series has some clunkers. I also don't critique any of the series based on the first season alone because they need time to develop.
IMHO it's the strongest series Star Trek has produced. Take any random Voyager episode and stack it against a TOS, TNG, DS9, or ENT episode and it'll likely be a better story with better acting and better character development. (I'm not including the modern series because they are Star Trek in-name-only as far as I'm concerned) I agree that people often dump on it, but I've noticed the reasons they give always vary wildly. I'm not sure if the cause was that some fans just had Star Trek fatigue by the time it came out (the 3rd ST series in a row), or if there are a number of people with a conscious or unconscious bias against having a female captain.
They originally planned it as a season-long arc WITHOUT a reset button at the end. But jackass Rick Berman told the writers they should reduce it to a two-parter and put in the damn reset button. So sad.
Aside from some of those already mentioned on the list in the video, these episodes were also among my favorites: "Prototype" and "The Thaw" from season 2, "Distant Origin" from season 3, "Message in a Bottle" from season 4, "Counterpoint" from season 5, "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy", "Blink of an Eye" and "Muse" from season 6, and "The Void" from season 7. Voyager was a wonderful show. Not always perfect, but waaay better than many people and Star Trek fans give it credit for.
My favorite episode of STV was 'The Thaw'. It was dark, sinister and at times horrifying. Perhaps it was Michael McKean as the clown and Robert Picardo doing his dark deadpan. Even the finale was both sad, twisted, the Captain being seriously evil making a character realise and becoming terrified of his own death. Mini horror show.
A few months ago I saw the DS9 where they crash landed and went to the future and met all of their descendants and bonded with them. They figured out how to fix it, but it meant erasing that history and none of them would exist. Watching them all continue with their daily lives and "your enemy is Time" did it again. Damn you DS9.
Voyager started quite middling but after Scorpion the show just transformed into something great. It's true that Seven is one of Trek's greatest characters. And she is definitely such an underrated actress!
Amen, brother. She's strong & independent & determined & smart & charming etc.. - but yet, she's also sometimes doubtful and hesitative; her responsibilities make her tackle her vulnerabilities every now and then; she can make mistakes, but is capable of acknowledging them; and occasionally, she even behaves a bit like an asshole. But that's exactly what makes her REALISTIC as the main character, as well as a human being as such. To me, that is what makes her truly endearing, stand out and remain unforgettable. LbnL re-casting the role to Kate Mulgrew was a super-stellar choice.
This is a good list :) You can't dismiss season 1 & 2 so easily though, there are some little gems in there. I really like Voyager episodes that are about the characters and character relationships. I really love "Deadlock" and "Twisted" for that reason. Season 2 especially has some great stand alone episodes you can watch time and again. "Shattered" is a great catch up episode. It's actually quite hard to compile a good top list because there really is something for everyone in this series!
I love so many Star Trek episodes it's hard to choose favourites. So I gave myself 1 second to think of a Voyager episode you didn't mention, and I landed on... One. How Seven deals with complete isolation. She certainly gives a great performance here.
I liked the Think Tank episode. It was smart (of course) and we got to see what kinds of weird life could be out there in the Delta Quadrant. The one with the pitcher plant showed Seven of Nine and Naomie Wildman getting to work together. And finally, The Thaw. How could anyone not like such an excellent premise and villian?
Blink of a Eye, Gravity, Riddles, Alter ego. I have a Great Appreciation of the Vulcans, so Any episode focusing on the Vulcans or Philosophy always makes my list.
So, aside from 2 or 3 eps, I'm binge-watching the rest and OH MY GORD are they really good!!! Thank you for this video, I get to see good eps I've missed!
You missed an episode "Star light , Star bright" one, where Voyager gets stuck in a planets gravitational field, while time rapidly passes on the planet. Voyager causes the planet earthquakes. The Asian guest actor from Hawaii 5 O is great, he is the austronaut from the planet.
*DEADLOCK* is an episode that gets overlooked because it aired in an early season. Kate Mulgrews performance was captivating and seeing her interactive with her alternative self gave a nice preview of what was to become of the finale! ALSO... *Death* *Wish* with Q was fantastic as well!
One is my favorite episode of Voyager. The way they portray 7 reacting to being so utterly alone is almost exactly the same as the social anxiety I have so it's one of the few times I can actually really relate to a character on TV.
The lows of TNG can be pretty low. I think I end up putting TNG first is simply because as a whole the crew is stronger. Voyager just becomes the Janeway, 7of9 and Doctor show. @@ariellekolodzinski6947
that was a disgusting episode. Where it tried to be deep and fell flatt on its surface. Tuvix wasnt intented to exist in the first place. I would argue nelix shouldnt exist as a character. A baffling moron without any use.
It's a shame that in "Night" they have actor Jonathan Del Arco (as a guest) who used to play "Hugh" the Borg on TNG and they didn't chose to make Hugh The Borg meet Seven Of Nine -the only 2 Borg seperated from the Collective : it would have been great to see them act together (a dream come true : like when Data met Spock on TNG), talk about a missed opportunity. Plus Johnny Del Arco is a friend of Jeri Ryan in real life (she said so in an interview).
@@ethanreal1126 correct me if in wrong but I’m pretty sure he was in the Void, not in Night. Easy to confuse the episodes considering the crew was in the void in the episode Night.
I think if Year of Hell had actually taken place over the course of an entire season, it would have truly elevated the entire series. I found the whole "reset button" thing to be a little insulting to the show's fans.
I have to say, I love all 10 of these episodes. I was especially happy to see Living Witness on here, but I would like to recommend an overall stronger Doctor episode: Latent Image. I think it is one of the ten best episodes of ALL Trek. Also, now you’ve got me thinking of an entire Year of Hell season... how incredible would that have been?!
Voyager also has the most underrated episode ever, "The Omega Directive", most underrated as it's story was relegated to a mid season "standard" episode, but had the potential of a 2 parter, or even a movie of it, it has a *way better story* than Star Trek Insurrection, but insurrection is a movie, and The Omega Directive is a simple episode, biggest mistake of the franchise
it was meh in my opinion. a plot device invented in the instant it was required, something so important could have been heared of in previous star trek.
For me Voyager got a whole lot better when Seven of Nine and the borg were brought into the frame. The first three seasons were OK but the last four were better. Although I do wish the ending had them land on earth and reunite with their love ones I still like this series. I find myself watching it almost as much as some of the others though I do consider those better. Alos how bout that episode where they have those prisoners aboard and one of them has Seven's nanomites? in him and he is cured of his psychopathic whatever. Maybe the entire episode wasn't brilliant but the ending was pretty heavy.
I liked Kes, I had somewhat of a crush on her. I was not happy to see her go. I saw 7 of 9 as over sexed and abrasive. I eventual warmed to her and enjoyed her struggle to find her humanity.
Agree with all your choices. A few of my personal faves were also Deadlock, Distant Origin, Message in a Bottle, Someone to Watch Over Me, Pathfinder, and Flesh and Blood
I always thought Distant Origin was one of the best not just of STV but of all Start Trek stories. This story turned history and perspective upside down.
Message In A Bottle was a great episode. It was light on seriousness but the character interactions, storytelling, humour, and amazing chemistry between Robert Picardo and Andy Dick is undeniable.
I forget the episode but Voyager gets caught in a planets upper atmosphere where time is distorted and they watch the civilization below go from primitive to very advanced . Very entertaining
My two favorite episodes of Voyager are Blink of an Eye and Muse. Blink of an Eye tells the story of Voyager being stuck in the orbit of a planet whose time is much faster than that of the rest of the galaxy. So Voyager becomes part of the planet's history, inspires culture, music, and politics. Muse is about Belana crash landing on a Rome-like planet where her logs and story become an inspiration for a writer's new play. Both such good uses of Voyager and effects on the planets without really doing much :)
Filtertuetchen No Doubt you have your favorite and I hate starting the argument as I love Sisko and all the Captains but have a special place in my heart for Janeway and Voyager. Damn...that Defiant is Sweeeeet tho!
This is a year late but I agree with you. I do have a soft spot for Kirk, though, for all his overacting. Sysco comes a close second for being a great captain
Really well composed & produced video. I always like it when I see your name on my RUclips dashboard. You obviously care more about Voyager than I did *at first*, but then you’ve convinced me to slow my pace at watching these episodes and it’s always paid off for me. Really well done.
Thaw season 2, excellent premise, struggle and villain. One we can all relate to. Also great guest star for villain. I didn't like it when it first came out but after I watched it again many years later, it's much better. And by far my favorite ending to ANY Star Trek episode, that fade to black was just chilling, oh man. I think I'm gonna go watch it now.
I started watching it in order a few months ago. On episode 12 of season 7 and your picks are fantastic! I have a heavy soft spot for "Prometheus" and how wonderful of a ship that is, but this series is stellar and I didn't realize it until now.
Course: Oblivion. This has to be the very best where the whole crew and ship disintegrate and melt waxworklike into oblivion. I don't know whether it is because of the horror that plays out before us or the reality of our own mortality.
Great episode list. But I'd add one more: Course: Oblivion 5x18. This is the episode where the crew discover they and the entire ship are are biomimetic copies that are slowly breaking down. They make a desperate attempt to reach the real Voyager and launch a capsule that documents the proof of their existence. I just love how absolutely bleak and hopeless this episode is. You get to see every member of the crew die off one by one and realize that they are all doomed. It is such a powerful episode.
Basically all two-parters are great: Caretaker, Year of Hell, Equinox, Basics, Future's End, Scorpion, The Killing Game, Unimatrix Zero, Workforce, Flesh and Blood, Endgame. Oh, that are 11 already. ;-) Ok, as I said that all of those are great, Year of Hell, Equinox, Future's End, Scorpion and The Killing Game are also definitely Top 10.
Yeah I love the scene where Harry Kims says "fifteen Borg vessels" we see them and then Chakotay says "My God !" best Star Trek episodes ever since "The Best Of Both Worlds". Loved the Borg and Species 8472 were great as "Alien" type creatures. I loved them too. They looked great and are the ultimate Star Trek vilains for me.
100% thumbs up. You covered probably the most memorable good episodes, and the reviews were concise and well-written. There are obviously many more great episodes not on this list, but I won't start listing them all! :-)
2 episodes of voyager have stuck with me all these years, (Drone & Tuvix). Especially Tuvix where Tuvok and Neelix are merged together in a transporter accident and begins with a lighthearted tone, but eventually develops into a much more serious and personal crisis. Also the final scene unmistakably defines the character of Janeway for the rest of the show.
Those were all good episodes. A few more I really liked were the water sphere in space one, the fast evolving species one, the one where tuvok wrote an anti maquis holographic novel, dinosaur people from Earth, and the one where Paris and Janeway have salamander babies.
Warlord! Kes is taken over by Teiran, a dictator that's hell bent on ruling a planet. Jennifer Lien is outstanding and really comes out of her shell.. the mental altercation between Kes and Tieran is amazing and Tuvok is also the coolest as usual!
Man, I fell in love with Sarah Silverman because of "Future's End". I enjoyed the double twist of "Counterpoint". "Someone To Watch Over Me" was really good...especially the Doctor & 7 of 9's duet. Robert Picardo was so good in "Tinker, Tailor, Doctor, Spy"..."Tuvok, activate the photonic canon!". And "One Small Step" (which was directed by Robert Picardo) chokes me up every time when 7 of 9 lays her hand on John Kelly's casket & tells him the Yankees won the World Series in 6 games. But the best emotional moment of the series was when Lt. Barclay made contact with Voyager in "Pathfinder". Can you imagine what that must've felt like for both sides? I wish they had shown a scene of Starfleet announcing to the world & Voyager's families that they had made contact.
Latent Image might be one of my favorite episodes of ANY Trek. It is Robert Picardo's self confessed favorite and, in his words, the most pivotal point for the Doctor. The way he has to deal with grief and uncertainty for the first time and the crew is finally forced to confront his status once and for all. Love everything about it!
One of my personal favorites was "The Thaw", Episode 2-23. A psycological drama against a crazed AI that pits characters against their worst fears and explores the terrifying power our minds have over us as well as giving the Doctor a primary role outside of sickbay pre-mobile emitter and Captain Janeway at her absolute most badass? Absolute gold. Still one of my favorite episodes they ever did.
I love voyager because the captain actually cares about the crew and talks with them like a friend, Janeway is the nice captain that is cool but at the same time careing for her crew.
How about the episode Pathfinder where Reginald Barclay at Starfleet risked his career to bring contact to Voyager. That word between Voyager's crew and Starfleet was touching...
wait what?! Hope and Fear not even in the Top10?! Thats argueably one of the best Star Trek episodes overall ever made! Voyager and it crew have to face an aftereffect of their dubious decision to make a pact with the Borg and see first hand what they caused with it.
Has no one ever entered “One”? A super-BORG who learns some hard lessons and the episode bookends with Seven’s real emotions coming out from the start where she practices emotions. Fun-fact: the actor who plays the Nazi encouraging the Herogin hunter to keep playing the WII scenario is the same actor who played “One.”
Enterprise and Voyager...has always been my favorite's. And as far as episodes its hard...But Scorpion, Timeless, Child's Play, Shattered and Endgames are e my ultimate. but unlike Trip and Topol, Voyager let 7 of 9 and Chkoty be together. I just would have like a bit more build up, to them truly burying their grievance...to be together, and not so rushed.
I don't know about how much potential their relationship had, but I do agree it was rushed. I think the whole last season felt a little.. rushed. Like they had heard "this is the last season" and the writers went from "we have tons of time to wrap up these things" to "we have to wrap these things up NOW!" I just wish it could've kept going. Ah well. Still my favorite Start Trek.
Yeah all the ones you mentioned I happen to like them, perphaps as honour mentions, "Blink of an eye", The 37's", "Death Wish", Message in a bottle", "One Small Step", "Critical Care", "The Void" and "Child's Play".
I've always like Blink of an Eye: it is the one where time travels faster on a planet and voyager gets stuck on something. Then becomes part of their culture. And it has Jin in it ;).
I do really like that episode as well. It just missed a spot though. Call it an honourable mention
blueray15 agreed. I actually think Blink of an Eye is one of the best of all Trek.
That episode left me wonder about the Doctor's son and family and how he ended up changed (even so briefly)!
"Drat!" Possibly my favorite closing line of any Star Trek show (along with "We will meet again."/"Energizing, Commander." from DS9: "Battlelines").

Yeah and them inventing an engine that could have taken them home fast. And the other voyager never finding out about them.
Agreed. One of Treks finest moments.
My favorite as well.
I cried at the end of the episode where the view screen shows just random gray dust of what used to be the ship. Sad. 😔
Yes, it was.
I liked 7th season episode "The Void" very much. It shows how the UFP actually works and that if you do things together and share and combine your resources in the end you can achieve much more than any of the participant would be able to do alone.

Love this episode, I'll watch this one over and over, showing working as a team is better than by yourself!

Avatar2312 Oh God Yes! The Void was an awesome episode.
Also "voyager elite force" was basically that episode only in a game, and is one of the best star trek there is
"Scorpion" and "Year of Hell" would be my top 2, for sure. "Scientific Method" is one of my favourites that immediately springs to mind!
Janeway ramming voyager into the kremin ship and "times up" iconic:)
Year of Hell I think tops #1. A truly well written and great piece.
Year of Hell, Equinox and Scorpion are Top 3. They are all what Voyager is about. Marooned in hostile territory without supply from home, struggle with keeping up the Prime Directive under very difficult circumstances, and being confronted with a seemingly unbeatable enemy.
Scientific method was great!

"DRAGON'S TEETH" is one of my faves. The speech that Janeway gives to the Vaaduar in her office is tremendous. There's also a good battle!
Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy was great because Bob Picardo really shows off some of his skill as an actor, and episodes focused on the Doctor are usually really well done. Tinker Tenor has got some of the funniest moments of the series. I also like Author Author a lot.
gspendlove Those two and Imperfection are fantastic.
This is one of my favorite Star Trek Voyager episodes.
I hate the Doctor episoded. Especially ''Heroes and Demons'' ....

I'm not sure if the cause was that some fans just had Star Trek fatigue by the time it came out (the 3rd ST series in a row), or if there are a number of people with a conscious or unconscious bias against having a female captain.
My personal favourite episodes are basically anything with the doctor in it. Picardo nails it every time, he’s great to watch.
Year of Hell is the best two-parter in the entirety of Star Trek in my opinion
My favorite too! Always brings a tear to the eye at the very end. I earned a whole new appreciation for Kurtwood Smith's acting chops.
A Year of Hell season story arc would have been freaking epic.
Agreed
They originally planned it as a season-long arc WITHOUT a reset button at the end. But jackass Rick Berman told the writers they should reduce it to a two-parter and put in the damn reset button. So sad.
Agree, Year of Hell was the best Voyager episode by a long way. This is what the whole show should have been.
Aside from some of those already mentioned on the list in the video, these episodes were also among my favorites:
"Prototype" and "The Thaw" from season 2,
"Distant Origin" from season 3,
"Message in a Bottle" from season 4,
"Counterpoint" from season 5,
"Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy", "Blink of an Eye" and "Muse" from season 6,
and "The Void" from season 7.
Voyager was a wonderful show. Not always perfect, but waaay better than many people and Star Trek fans give it credit for.
Oh wow, I forgot about Distant Origin! Another favorite of mine!
Mini horror show.
my personal favorite out of the whole show!
The Thaw was great!
That was seriously crap!
Was that the episode that Robin Williams was supposed to be in? He wanted to be in an episode, but the scheduling never worked out...
@@lpellett429 Not sure but I could 100% see him in the role as the clown
Course: Oblivion made me cry at the end. Only time Star Trek ever had that effect on me.
Course: Oblivion, Blink of an Eye and The Inner Light always make me cry :( sorry old comment!
Come on now, come clean. Spock’s Brain makes you cry as well.
I always liked the episodes that 7 of 9 sang... Jeri Ryan has an awesome voice.
Jeff Rodriguez
the
KILLING GAME
part 1
I heard they had to practically wring it out of her. She refused to do it at first because she thought she didn't have a good voice.
The Killing Game. It's definitely in my top 10.
"Real Life" was one of my fav. The doctor looking after his own family on the holodeck. Ending is very sad.
No joke there. That ending was perhaps the saddest in the Star Trek franchise.
Powerful episode!
After 45 minutes of Bella screaming "I lost my mallet!", I think the Doctor probably found it and smacked her over the head with it make her STFU.
‘One’ the borg drone that was created by a transporter malfunction is my favourite
It's one of my favorites, too, but I thought the title was Drone ?
Voyager started quite middling but after Scorpion the show just transformed into something great. It's true that Seven is one of Trek's greatest characters. And she is definitely such an underrated actress!
All of voyager was great! It had Janeway the most kickass captain and a well balanced crew!
I agree whole-heartedly with your selections. In fact, just seeing the samples you showed inspired to look back into my Collection...
Year of Hell, the absolute best. Kurtwood Smith is fantastic.
message in a bottle
↑This guy gets it.
Yes! That should have replaced the Infinite Regress episode IMO.
that episode is one of the best!
Not even Andy Dick could ruin it.
yes that is good
I liked the Think Tank episode. It was smart (of course) and we got to see what kinds of weird life could be out there in the Delta Quadrant. The one with the pitcher plant showed Seven of Nine and Naomie Wildman getting to work together. And finally, The Thaw. How could anyone not like such an excellent premise and villian?
Yes! Timeless is on here! Love that one!
Blink of a Eye, Gravity, Riddles, Alter ego. I have a Great Appreciation of the Vulcans, so Any episode focusing on the Vulcans or Philosophy always makes my list.
I absolutely loved tuvoks character exploration in Riddles.
For me I always love klingon episodes. So Prophecy makes my top 10.
I always thought year of hell should have continued MUCH longer.
James Tarr 4 episodes to be honest, then again, voyager easily could have filled 14 seasons
Year of hell should have been an entire season long arc. But Rick Berman didn't have the balls for that
Meld was the first great episode. Amazing performances by Brad Dourif and Tim Russ.
Oh! I forgot about Meld. That definitely used to be in my top 10. I haven't seen that in a while. Good thing Netflix has it!
I loved Meld
So, aside from 2 or 3 eps, I'm binge-watching the rest and OH MY GORD are they really good!!! Thank you for this video, I get to see good eps I've missed!
You missed an episode "Star light , Star bright" one, where Voyager gets stuck in a planets gravitational field, while time rapidly passes on the planet. Voyager causes the planet earthquakes. The Asian guest actor from Hawaii 5 O is great, he is the austronaut from the planet.
That’s blink of an eye! Such a good one
Unpopular opinion..... star trek Voyager is extremely underrated and right up there with tng
I think the highs of voyager are higher than TNG, but the lows of Voyager are lower than TNG. Average quality is probably about the same
@@ariellekolodzinski6947 💯
Agree completely!
The lows of TNG can be pretty low. I think I end up putting TNG first is simply because as a whole the crew is stronger. Voyager just becomes the Janeway, 7of9 and Doctor show. @@ariellekolodzinski6947
Voyager is my favorite ST series of them all..
You completely ignored "The Thaw", great story telling, great acting and a great villain. Among the best episodes on all counts I believe.
All great episodes. I would add Tuvix, where Neelix and Tuvok get merged in a transporter malfunction. A real tear jerker ending.
Very Corny episode....Made no sense to me. Also why wasn't he called Neevok?
@LordMIGtau Not killing Tuvix basically meant killing Neelix and Tuvok.
@@Charlio23 Should've done the 'ol Riker transporter dupe trick, then split one of the two back into the originals.
that was a disgusting episode. Where it tried to be deep and fell flatt on its surface. Tuvix wasnt intented to exist in the first place. I would argue nelix shouldnt exist as a character. A baffling moron without any use.
My favorite episode has to be the season 5 premier "Night" for the character development and AMAZING atmosphere.
Same here, i liked the episode the first time i saw it ;)
So Good! I think it is very fitting for Janeway in a struggle and triumph.
I personally like the episodic nature of Voy. Yet if any story arc was to be made into a searies. Year of Hell would be it.
There's a reason it was called YEAR of hell
Voyager also has the most underrated episode ever, "The Omega Directive", most underrated as it's story was relegated to a mid season "standard" episode, but had the potential of a 2 parter, or even a movie of it, it has a *way better story* than Star Trek Insurrection, but insurrection is a movie, and The Omega Directive is a simple episode, biggest mistake of the franchise
Mihzvol Wuriar yes! Completely agree.
Fair enough, the story itself is worthy of a blockbuster star trek movie.
it was meh in my opinion. a plot device invented in the instant it was required, something so important could have been heared of in previous star trek.
Kes's scream was the most horrible thing I've ever heard.
Did you know the actress who played Kes became super trailer park. lol. she was on the news for being drunk.
Season 4 is when "Voyager" really became its own show and found its own voice, IMO.
I think it was more than that. I think she developed a severe mentally illness :(
Agree with all your choices.
Great list :)
Living Witness is one of my favourites
Blink of an Eye is also a one worth mentioning
Muse is a personal favorite of mine, though I think I might be the only one. It might not be the best Voyager episode, but I do love the premise
The top 5 were spot on. Voyager holds a very special place for me. It’s what got me into trek to begin with.
I forget the episode but Voyager gets caught in a planets upper atmosphere where time is distorted and they watch the civilization below go from primitive to very advanced . Very entertaining
Moxica Blink of an Eye, I think.
That was brilliant, I still think about it sometimes. So it must have been good.
Best ST Series. Greatest ST Captain. Sweetest ST Vessel ever.
DS9. Sisko. Defiant.
Filtertuetchen No Doubt you have your favorite and I hate starting the argument as I love Sisko and all the Captains but have a special place in my heart for Janeway and Voyager. Damn...that Defiant is Sweeeeet tho!
i love voyager because they are the underdog, they dont have the best ship and they are alone on the oposite side of the galaxy
I'm with you.
Year of Hell as a Season long arc would've been absolutely amazing!
My first episode that I saw as a teenager was the deseas and every since then I fell in love with the series.... And absolute masterpiece
it has the best theme
It is a wonderful theme but for me DS9's theme beats it by a small margin.
shhhh no no no
I love DS9 but I find its title sequence and music quite dull, no matter which season. The only thing that saves the titles for me is the CGI comet.
It's been a long road … getting from there to here ;-)
the poorest imo. But the best series.
Course Oblivion is one of my favorite episodes of voyager
Agreeeeeed
I love Voyager so have ranked my 20 favourite episodes to compare with yours:
20 Flashback
19 Investigations
18 Pathfinder
17 The Killing Games
16 Riddles
15 Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
14 Latent Image
13 Scientific Method
12 Future's End
11 Relativity
10 Basics
9 Twisted
8 Fury
7 The Voyager Conspiracy
6 Waking Moments
5 Timeless
4 Worst Case Scenario
3 Dreadlock
2 Shattered
1 Endgame
No Course: Oblivion damn
Great choices for top 10. "Blink of an Eye" was pretty awesome, too.
I can't help it but I really like Voyager... it is the series I grew up with (mixed with tos(I am only 16))
"Before and After" is a personal favourite of mine, and one of the best Kes episodes. "Warlord" is also up there with it.
Agree and would add "Distant Origin".
Yes, the Voth story
I love this episode. As far as top episode lists goes, I’ve found it’s either top 5 or not present at all.
Yuck, no.
Basically all two-parters are great: Caretaker, Year of Hell, Equinox, Basics, Future's End, Scorpion, The Killing Game, Unimatrix Zero, Workforce, Flesh and Blood, Endgame.
Oh, that are 11 already. ;-)
Ok, as I said that all of those are great, Year of Hell, Equinox, Future's End, Scorpion and The Killing Game are also definitely Top 10.
I must have watched Scorpion 1+2 at least 20 times. Thats SCIFI at its BEST!!!
"Divine Intervention is... unlikely."
-The Doctor
Episode: Futures End
2 episodes of voyager have stuck with me all these years, (Drone & Tuvix).
Especially Tuvix where Tuvok and Neelix are merged together in a transporter accident and begins with a lighthearted tone, but eventually develops into a much more serious and personal crisis. Also the final scene unmistakably defines the character of Janeway for the rest of the show.
I’m surprised at how much hate the ‘Tuvix’ episode gets. I agree it was one of the more poignant episodes of the series.
Voyager is my absolute favorite of the whole series.
1) Voyager
2) Next Generation
3) Deep Space Nine
4) Original Series
5) Enterprise
Titanic Truths Voyager>Enterprise >TOS>TNG>DS9
+Titanic TruthsI am SO happy that I am not alone with that opinion! I even agree with your ranking.
Titanic Truths For me it's,
1.) Voyager
2.) OS
3.) Next Generation
4.) Enterprise
voyager is my favorite of the treks as well. but for me it's voyager ds9 enterprise ng os
1. Deep Space Nine
2. Next Generation
3. Voyager
4. Enterprise
5. Original Series
I love Bride of Chaotica! It's so much fun. I love when Trek is allowed to be funny and silly. One of the best examples.
I think you missed:
Latent Image
Course: Oblivion
Hope and fear
Hope and Fear sticks out in my mind too as one of the best.
Those were all good episodes. A few more I really liked were the water sphere in space one, the fast evolving species one, the one where tuvok wrote an anti maquis holographic novel, dinosaur people from Earth, and the one where Paris and Janeway have salamander babies.
ohh yeah living witness what an episode
Warlord! Kes is taken over by Teiran, a dictator that's hell bent on ruling a planet. Jennifer Lien is outstanding and really comes out of her shell.. the mental altercation between Kes and Tieran is amazing and Tuvok is also the coolest as usual!
No love for The Omega Directive. :( good list though.
Not the best Star Trek series, but definitely the best Trek doctor. Any episode that features him are always the best Voyager episodes.
True. Bashir was a creep to women, McCoy was a space racist. The alien from Enterprise was fun, but the Doctor was better.
What about Beverly?
@@thomaskirkness-little5809 Really a space racist ? What is that ?
@@ihl8608 A person who makes rude comments about other races, but in space.
@@thomaskirkness-little5809 oh OK, sorry.
Love everything about it!
living witness was the closest we ever saw to a mirror universe for Voyager.
Revkor
I agree.
Well of course, there's "The Chute", AKA "The Episode That Launched A Thousand Fanfics"!
Blink of an Eye is great and I loved Nothing Human also. But my favourite is Someone to Watch Over Me. The Doc at his heart wrenching best.
Deathwish and Meld are missing from this list. This is a problem.
I love voyager because the captain actually cares about the crew and talks with them like a friend, Janeway is the nice captain that is cool but at the same time careing for her crew.
Bestsson she’s my favourite captain
I loved the Body and Soul episode!
C and 7 had potential to be SUCH a fascinating couple, and the show just blew it.
Pamela, thank you for mentioning Timeless! It is my favorite episode of Voyager!
Yeah all the ones you mentioned I happen to like them, perphaps as honour mentions, "Blink of an eye", The 37's", "Death Wish", Message in a bottle", "One Small Step", "Critical Care", "The Void" and "Child's Play".
I loved "one small step", "Void", and "Night"
thanks - really superbly narrated and clips - great great job!
Living Witness is one of the best Star Trek Episodes, period along with A blink of an eye...
I love your use of the intro music from Elite Force as background music on several occasions
