I really like the idea of the double bunker with a hidden access. I'd be extremely concerned about (whatever remains of) the government deciding to engage in 'legal' theft by declaring our stores "illegal hoarding" and then confiscating all of our supplies (to be used by them and their enforcers of course). A concealed second bunker would be the ideal place to store 'most' of your supplies. You'd want to keep just enough in your first bunker for them to think they had cleaned you out of your stores.
Make no mistake.. the government or whoever is in charge ( we’re still not sure who is) will take anything from anyone that they need. Don’t think an American government would never abandon its own citizens for political blame pointing or a need for themselves ? Afghanistan. Enough said.

You can shelter more people if the set-up is more like a dormitory or barracks or space station and less like a vacation home. I would like to see one of these made like a Japanese capsule hotel. No parents' bedroom, just individual, soundproof, sleeping capsules each equipped with lighting, temperature control, USB ports, electric outlets and a small TV. Most teenagers would prefer their own sleeping capsule so they could get away from their parents' scrutiny and spend their time listening to music and watching DVDs. I would omit that space-consuming conventional kitchen and just have some storage units holding instant food, MREs and bottled beverages; a wall-mounted counter holding a small microwave, a rice cooker, a Berkey water filter, an electric tea kettle, disposable plates, bowls and eating utensils; and some trash bins below that counter would be good enough. Each person could prepare his or her instant meal at any time day or night. No one person would get stuck cooking scheduled family meals for everyone or washing a lot of dishes afterwards. If food rationing was needed, a week of instant meals could be distributed to each sleeping capsule and the rest of the food kept in a locked storage unit. A few folding chairs and a couple of small wall-mounted tabletops could serve as a small dining area and could be quickly folded away when not needed. I would also like to see the addition of a second toilet and a second shower -- one bathroom for men and boys and one bathroom for women and girls to serve also as changing rooms. I would eliminate that sofa and large screen TV entertainment cabinet to make space for a treadmill, an exercise bike and some chin-up bars mounted overhead.

The purchase and installation cost of a serious bunker would likely be significantly greater than the cost of a modest bungalow above ground. If nothing else, having such a small living space above ground would keep people from wondering where you are going when you disappear into your bunker.
