Most of the combinations are special order, and can take 4-6 weeks to fulfill the order. If you are interested in one, I would get the process started now as there is no telling when Pentax could cease accepting orders. - Yossi
Pentax gives you a lot for your money. Just wish they had lenses that could compete with Nikon. I would give them a try. I learned my photography 30 years ago on a Pentax ME Super. It was a good camera and a I sold it in a garage sale about 5 years ago... it still worked like new.
Lovely, glad to see they continued the tradition of K-30. Oh by the way, Regarding 4:20 - please, just because one is an Amateur that doesn't mean they use those newbie modes. Being amateur / professional is not an indicator of skill level, there are plenty of expert / advanced level amateurs. :)
You can also customize the Green Button for various things. I shoot in full manual and I've got it set to TV Shift, meaning that hitting it will adjust the shutter speed for neutral exposure. Also, that 18-135 uses a lens powered SDM motor for autofocus whereas the 50mm 1.8 uses the body driven screwdrive, thus the difference in sound.
What can really sweeten the deal with this camera is the availability of very good older lenses for not much money. Pentax were once leaders in SLR cameras and lenses let's hope they can be again, I'd welcome some more competition to N&C, Sony are off on a tangent all thier own.
I have the k50's predecessor the k30, which is essentially the same camera. It is an excellent camera and its feature set stand considerably over the nikon d5100 which I also have.
Pretty sure that 50mm lens is just a 50mm on that body. DA lenses are set for APS-C sensors. Crop factor only applies to full frame lenses on crop sensor bodies.
When the screen is off you just press the button that is just to the left of the 4 way buttons . It has a blue square with a blue arrow . When you press that button after you take a shot it will show you the picture and the info for that photo . when you press the shutter half way again it will go off . While you are looking at the photo you can delete it my pushing the lv - trash can icon . Leaving the screen off saves your battery . With the screen set to Off you can still use the menu button and the info button .
But that "red led" thing where you pick the camera what is it? Cannot be obscured by hand when you are handling camera? :/ It's in the front of hand rest, you can see from standard product photo, is not a light sensor?

kitan parana Hey I just picked this camera up at a great price as well.. It was such a good deal I just bought it. How is the camera working for you? What type of shots or video do you take? What lens?. I am a beginner in all aspects of dslr . I normally use a point and shoot.
I don't thik so, this is a great camera for DSLR beginners, way better of Canon and Nikon models in the same price range. I own a K-50 and a Nikon D3100: the latter appears like a toy camera after you handle the former for a while. Not to mention pentaprism instead of mirror, stabilized sensor, weather resistant body and lenses (only WR models) and the ability of storing specific settings for each lens. You usually need to go well beyond 300$ to gain these features.
I did not catch that! Wow, 300$ was a steal indeed! It was 440 euros for me with 18-55mm lens and 4 years warranty. Not bad I think. Last week I put my hands on a Tamron 70-300 for about 100 euros. Not internally stabilized but with sensor stabilization it's really worth the cost. Same think for a 28mm vintage picked up for a few euros. Totally manual mode but still a good lens. I'm really satisfied for what I payed.
Most DSLR buyers use it as a point and shoot camera. If you are that kind of user, then the Canon D100 is probably a better choice. Otherwise the K-50 is way better the rivals in the same price range.
Pentax K50 or nikon d3300, I am looking for a camera which can let me take picture in differnts situations, I mean sometimes I like to go to the forest to take some macros or some landscape pictures, or also for street photography. From what I saw in reviews the pentax looks more polyvalent, but I still have But I still have doubts.
Hey thanks guys I found a used one in my town this morning!! Thanks for specs breakdown.. This is my first dslr.. I’ll practice on this until I can get the a6400 for you guys.. thanks for your service
Nice. This is a good starter camera. I've taken some of my best stills with it. (Not to good for video but will work but no auto focus just hold the focus btn. Hey note, this thing suffers the black screen of death. Its a defect that can be fixed. RUclips showd me how.
Unfortunately, the Pentax K50 is discontinued. For a beginner DSLR, the Nikon D3400, B&H # B&H # NID3400BK would be a great option based on its image quality, ease of use and lens options. bhpho.to/2gtay7k
Unfortunately, the Pentax K50 is only capable of shooting Full HD video in 1080p. Currently, this holds true for all Pentax K DSLRs on the market. Another option to consider is the Nikon D7500 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm Lens, B&H # NID7500K which can shoot 4K UHD video at 30 FPS. bhpho.to/2kSjknr
According to the instruction manual, the camera will not necessarily use all 11 points when that selection is made, it only uses the ones from the 11 possible options that it feels it needs to. Now if your saying there are consistently the same two AF points never working then there may be some sort of issue. I was not able to find any information about that type of event happening. If that is the case, I would recommend contacting Pentax directly for further technical support. Their agents will have the ability to determine the issue. Good k-50 model. Time laps photography nigh and day. Movies HD video. Fast variant style photo. Dust and water resistant Good ☺️ 👍. Back time model k-x k20d k100d k200d.

Nice catch! Thanks for pointing this out. We have placed an annotation in the video clarifying this.

I actually sold my D5100 to get a K30 so I'm with you!

Image quality is excellent. The 18-135mm is a good walk around lens but get better glass and people will see just how good the image quality is
B and H is doing its homework. great job guys!
Thank you for watching.
Still have mine (f2 with A setting) that I occasionally use on a K-x. Got that from a K1000 that my graphic design bro gave to me back in 2003. :)
Thanks for reading the brochure

What?
Good review guys, however there are notable microphones available that fit this camera, so you are not stuck with built in mic
are you sure that you can plug in an external mic? I didn't find any information about that
siemensohm You can't plug in an external mic.

I like your pic, makes me smile ;)

This camera was a steal for 300$

Fabrizio Exactly
I got it on a 50% discount back in 2015 (600÷2=300 lol)
And I'm really satisfied with what I bought

Does this have a live view? That would be a fix for the distracting light from the screen problem for me.
The K-50 has a Live View mode, yes. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

Is there a limited time offer for color selection and combination? I'm afraid it is like K-r which offer color selection temporarily.
Other than the ISO, I didn't see any improvement from the K-30. The body of the K-30 is much better!

Astonishingly useful review. Many thanks.
Any of the legacy manual focus fast 50's will focus plenty silent too.
Love Pentax - Ricoh, not so much. Great review!
Great work B&H!
You guys do know that the 50mm that you just showered with water is NOT weather sealed, right?
Hey thanks guys I found a used one in my town this morning!! Thanks for specs breakdown.. This is my first dslr.. I’ll practice on this until I can get the a6400 for you guys.. thanks for your service

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a good entry-level DSLR. Would you recommend this one or Nikon D3300?

Can you and how do you film in 4K HD on a Pentax K-50

B&H Photo Video okay thankyou!!!!!
green ring?
Actually the canon t2i is only marginally behind in terms of specs. But the. Pentax is way behind on video
how can I have 11 af points at Select mode? now I have only 9.

Can I plug an external mic to the K50?
Good k-50 model. Time laps photography nigh and day. Movies HD video. Fast variant style photo. Dust and water resistant Good ☺️ 👍. Back time model k-x k20d k100d k200d.
In most of the features, my Canon t2i is still more advanced for most cases. And I only paid $250 for it
Actually, try comparing the two on snapsort's site and you may be a bit disappointed.
Its 2019, nobody uses Pentax
Well this looks.. like the most underwhelming camera ever created.
