Saw the Who a few times in 1976 one was a general admission against the stage! Wow! Pete with ALL his numbered Gibson Gold Tops...Paint By Numbers! He did!👍❤️😎
@@jamesjames9275 Growing up during the British Rock Invasion James...I said the same thing! I saw the Beatles and Stones on the Ed Sullivan show Elvis and more in black and white 📺! Wow...What a ride!!😎👍❤️ Thanks!👍
I've said before I will say it again I have learned more from your channel over the past couple years than I did playing for 30 years before! Thank You JJ!!! You are amazing!!!
Frickin just like W O W man! Turn it up! Thanks for the lesson. Made my Week! This is Rock and Roll. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Best scream in Rock and Roll. (Jim Morrison was had a pretty good holler too!) Thanks man. This is just so excellent. Only wish i was 17 again. Vancouver BC Canada
Pete was the original hyper wild man...Windmills, jumps, scissor kicks, kicks of all types, cannon balls, slides...and of course smashing...= the most exciting guitar player ever and most prolific songwriter.......
Looks like I’m 3 years late posting this, but recently became obsessed with playing this song. So glad you had a lesson on it! Been following you since the PT days. You have helped to make me a better guitar player! I appreciate all you do!
I could tell you were having fun with this one, and then I burst out laughing when you held your guitar up to the camera! I love your taste, love your playing, love your profile pic and your humility. Thanks a ton!
Unbelievable!!! After playing one of the very best songs in history you're straight in "Ok......" I'd be doing cartwheels and screaming that I could play like that!
Love it!! Ive just gotten a really good backing track of the synth section so it will be interesting how I tie in the bits I learn from your video. Awesome work. I know, its 4 years later but I just love this song.
Man! You're the BEST! LOVE YOU! I started to play guitar and learned the same way as you. All by ear. BLACK FALCON! MY DREAM GUITAR! All love from Brazil! Keep up the good work!
I have to agree you are a great teacher you make it easy for guys like me to sound pretty close to the original and that’s a great feeling I own a 100w marshall head 2/12 cab and my baby a 2010 Gibson les paul traditional which I have heavily upgraded and I could never get what I thought a good sound should be like until I tagged along with your lessons a suddenly tunes that I’ve loved since the 70s were coming from my hands and my guitar I can’t tell you how big a deal that moment was for me so I wanna say thankyou man you are the coolest.
James, this is a great lesson, great tone on your guitar, and a really great song. I never realized how many great riffs and licks the song had until your breakdown of it. Happy Saint Pat's Day.
You know I have been watching and learning since privatricker and I never cease to be amazed by your prowess. It is a sight to behold and learn. Keep up the good work!! Oh I forgot Happy Thanksgiving from north of the border!!
Confirming something I suspected. With a Gretsch that has the mud switch, gotta go full forward with it engaging the muddiest position along with the bridge pickup into a bright overdriven amp. And the sound is THERE.
I don't even know if I commented here yet. But James you are a beast with the axe. I also learn more from you than any other. Hope you are back to full speed. Seems like it from your recent videos.
I've had a lot of fun playing along with this. There is a lot of technique here, and I think that you picked the best way to teach this lesson. Thank you, thank you, and all the best to you. Have a Happy Easter!
I saw them on that tour. I was stunned by how great they were. It totally erased my terrible memories of the '89 tour. That was just an awful, awful tour.
Every nuance of Pete's style you nail it. Better than his little brother Simon does. Get some air moving with the windmill and I would swear its Pete. I have a video I took of this from the front row zoomed on Pete's guitar. (Shameless channel plug). You play it pretty much just like in the video I shot. I keep learning from you. Great teach at the end too. For those who don't know this is likely the most difficult song to emulate by another player. JJ just f'n nails it! Great job!
Thx for your lesson. Your guitar have a excellent sound…and you know how to play it. An excellent guitar and beautil. (Sorry for my English, I’m Swiss and french speaking)

So cool, I bet your hearing was bad for a while afterwards
One of the most powerfull rock songs ever made .One of my favorite one's.
I sometimes argue it’s the greatest rock song. But I’ve made that argument about a lot of songs!
For all of the years I have dissected this song and and compared its parts to other rock songs........This is the Greatest!!..................
I concur!

It's crazy how many different sounds this guitar does well.
Yep, it’s a rock n roll machine!
The Who songs are my final frontier in guitar. Never could figure out the most popular of them on my own. Pete is a tricky guy.
I can't express how grateful I am for your lessons. I've learned tons from You, stuff I didn't know that exists. Greetings from Poland.
your sound is pure gold...

The best video on this song ! Thank you so much.
We need a lesson on how Pete jumped off his speaker stack
OR DID THAT KNEE SLIDE IN THE 1970 VIDEO!
That might be a bit hard jumping off your Fender Mustang amp in your bedroom!😉

Ha!! Looked like you were gonna break into the windmill in there.
James, this is a great lesson, great tone on your guitar, and a really great song. I never realized how many great riffs and licks the song had until your breakdown of it. Happy Saint Pat's Day.

Well done. My initial thought: 22 minutes??? Yep, and I watched every one. Very clearly explained. Thanks!
Really nice sounding guitar and great playing.Have a Merry Christmas. Thanks Dave.
You're such a beast! This is the best way to learn how to wield the Axe, a combination of watching and using your ear
Really is impossible to play without succumbing to the temptation to windmill. Even if you are sitting down.
Confirming something I suspected. With a Gretsch that has the mud switch, gotta go full forward with it engaging the muddiest position along with the bridge pickup into a bright overdriven amp. And the sound is THERE.
As relevant today as 1972. Maybe even more so. Thank you.
OUTSTANDING!!
Amazing. This is the only true to Pete version I’ve ever seen. Kudos brother!
I hit like as soon as you struck 1st chord, what a sound 👍👍
very talented ..Great Job !!
Epic mate! Thanks for the upload. Love the guitar by the way.

By far the best lesson out there. Learnt some cool riffs, apart from the song itself.
I just learned a ton. This is great. Now I can't flippin' wait to get home from work and try it out.

Great Job! I sense you were really fighting the urge to do some windmilling there.
Fuckin Greatest band ever. thanks Jim!
You’ve got the feel , great stuff man .
I saw The Who Reunion Tour in 89. I was 17 and it was like Woodstock.
I saw them on that tour. It was a lot of fun, but I saw them 25 years later and they just blew away the 1989 version of the band.
Sounds good.love The Who saw in DC a couple of years ago.
I saw them on that tour. I was stunned by how great they were. It totally erased my terrible memories of the '89 tour. That was just an awful, awful tour.
Excellent.
That Gretsch sounds just like Pete's.
GOLD !! Thank you from canada!
