- On this day I came to Tunis, a city in the North African country of Tunisia. It was my first time in an Arabic/Muslim country and also my first time in the continent of Africa. Luckily, I made a new local friend to help navigate through this different side of the world...
Thank you for watching

Welcome to Tunisia 🫶
You are warmly welcome to Tunisia, actually i'm learning korean on my own, i adore the culture, history, food and the korean people ❤
❤
The girl is sweet and smart. She speaks korean.Good for you.
Welcome to Tunisia. Allow me to fill you in on some history of what you visited in this vlog.
The Medina is the Old Town of Tunis. It was build in the year 698 A.D. and is considered a UNESSCO world heritage site. It is also considered as one of the best preserved Medinas in North Africa. It is full of old schools dating back to the 7th century, as wells as museums and Dars (Dar means house). Historically speaking, the medina was surrounded by walls, and you can only enter through the city's main door (the gate you showed before entering). People and merchants lived there, and the houses and shops surrounded the Palace of the Sultan (now turned into a governmental building). When the French came, they founded La ville nouvelle (the new city). Which is why the architecture of the city center resembles the French architecture. Now, the Medina stands as a monument for life during the Middle Ages in Tunisia, and how its inhabitants used to live within its small alleys and behind its adorned doors.
For the monument you asked about, the one the girl with you says that it is important, that it the Qasbah square. It stands as a monument for the souls of every 'martyr', every nationalist, every revolutionary who died for the sake of our country.
For the diversity of religions, while Tunisia is predominantly Muslim, the constitution grants the liberty of conscience to everyone on Tunisian soils. You can practice whatever you like. While the population is predominantly muslim (I would say perhaps 95% of the population, there are also atheists as well as practicing christians and Jews especially in Jerba. If you look for churches and synagogues, you will find many.
I hope you have a pleasant trip. I would advise you to visit El Jem Collisseum, Dougga, Tataouine, if you want to discover the rich civilization that stretches over 3000 years. From Carthage to the Romans to the Vandals to the Arabs to the Ottomans, this land witnessed the ebb and flow of empires. If you want more sightseeing, I advise you to go to Bizerte, Sidi Bousaid, La Marsa, and Hammamet. If you want rich green landscapes, you can go to Jendouba's cities (Bni Mtir, Ain Drahem, Tabarka). If you want to go to the desert and meet the indigenous Amazigh (berber population) I advise you to go to Tataouine. If you want to see beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert (Tozeur, Chebika, Mides, Tamazgha, Nefta, and many others). If you crave less touristy locations and rich food, maybe hit El Kef. Again, welcome! :)
Thank you for the info!

Hey there! As a Tunisian living in South Korea I really wanna know how you got to know Tunisia because trust me no one absolutely no one knows it here everytime random people stop me they think I'm Russian or from another nationality but when I tell them "I'm from Tunisia" they look quite confused and tell me stuff like they've never heard of it before haha I genuinely wanna know haha alsoo I hope you have a wonderful time in my country please enjoy the food there! It's sooo tasty!
I was looking into places to visit in North Africa and got interested haha
I’m sorry that she don’t know anything about Tunisian culture the medina is full of history she don’t even know the pastry’s name but she’s nice that’s typically Tunisian hospitality 😊

welcome to tunisia have a wonderful visit. BUT, the girl didnt actually explain things to you well. well medina is always crowded but it has its own charm, well sadly it has a lot of stray poor cats, also yes we muslims pray five times a day and it s not actually a lot, and that is the call of prayer .
Thanks for the info!
Please don't be so rude with the girl.. Beang with a foreigner in front of camera for the first time is a bit embarrassing.. She 's trying to give information as she could... I think she was doing well giving a good image of tunisian hospitality and kindbess.. Thank you
Finally it's not just me who thinks that he was rude with her
@@wissalabdelli7895 lol wut
@@TreeOnlyTravels nah you're good man I am also a Tunisian and I think she was having a good time with you
The girl knows nothing, there's a lot of history in Tunis and especially the Medina.
Maybe because she is not a local from the center but still some information and history should be known like the sweet gift she gave she doesn't even know how to explain that!!!!
the girl really should educate herself about the country and culture before explaining it to a foreigner in a wrong way and giving false information about everything
!!!!
She's not from the center, I'm sure she did her best to explain things haha
ahwka 9asslek bono erta7
Welcome to Tunisia, and the sandwich you've been eating is called Fricassé “Free casey”.
Thank you 👍

Very good video, but honestly the way you rotate the camera gave me a headache. Very fast and cut! Make it smooth!!!
Thanks for the feedback 👍
Watching this made me wonder: how the F did I manage to stay sane all these years living there! Even cats seem to be mentally ill.
that's how you speak about your country to a foreigner?? as a tunisian, you should never talk bad about our beloved country in front of someone that is not tunisian
you are wired ! how can you speak like this about your country. so sad ...
Shame on you ! Express your feeling somewhere else ! I am sure your a looser !
That's your experience.. just study, work go to the gym and have good friends around you, pray to allah :) have faith
you will get better mentally for sur
you should maybe start to study islam a little bit, understand it, what it's about
Welcome to TUN, this girl knows nothing about Tunisia btw
She literally says people lives in those destroyed buildings.. she goes shopping in Hammamet ?? xD dafuq
She can go into the Mosque through the women's Door.
You ate "sesame".
Al-Zaytuna Mosque is actually the first university in the whole world
Have a nice visit & one more thing! try not to go deep into empty places in medina or whatever, you will get Robbed ;)
Not only in tun bro i mean anywhere :) GLhf
Thanks 👍 I'm sure she tried her best to explain things. She did go into the women's prayer area to film for me in the video
@@TreeOnlyTravels I mean she's kind of right , ik know people in general don't want women in mosques not that i care and yes people don't live in those destroyed buildings..
@@ahmedcharfeddine2161 "people in general don't want women in mosques" You need to educated your self before you talking about Islam like this.. it's not for you or people to decide who enters or leaves a mosque ;) keep in mind making claims like this needs a very good answer in the day of judgment.
"Not that i care" actually you have to care :) best of luck
@@kiramania666 like i said i don't care if they enter or not , you really need to read properly ^^ , read it again , it's the people in general (not my opinion) but the general people's opinion , and why would i care ? like you said people should be free to do what they like ! so why do i need to care ? you said something that's kinda contradictive , and i am speaking logically as women didn't go the mosques in the past (talking about tunisia dunno about other countries ) it is something that started not a long time ago.. did you see women go to mosque 20 years ago ? it was very rare and not very appreciated (ofc not by me plz read properly but buy the population in general )
is she paying for you ? I think its weird letting her pay
