Many people here are missing the point. Vladimir Pozner was the only neutral reporter in the History of US / Soviet & Russian history! His goal has always been diplomacy & peace between our two Countries. There's no one left like him, when we need a mediator more than ever now!

Thanks very much Mr. Vladimir Pozner. I've affectionately admired Mr. Pozner since seeing him in the 80's/90's on Phil Donahue and Ted Koppel shows. I appreciated, then, Mr. Pozner's teaching about Russia as well as his outreach to us in America for the sake of peace and understanding between our peoples. As a result of the fascination with Russia that I developed after hearing Mr. Pozner, I've since visited Russia a few times (in '95 and 2019) out of curiousity and I feel mostly warmth for the Russian people that I met and befriended. It's a wonderful, albeit enigmatic, country with a fascinating history. It's such a needless shame that our country's are at each others throats again today. After the Soviet Union fell apart, there was such a great opportunity for long term peace. And it's been tragically wasted - in my view - mainly by us here in the USA. I had hoped that we would help Russia successfully developed their economy on a basis of the capitalism which has built wealth in the world unlike anything seen before in history. The Russian people would have benefitted from better living standards and we would have benefitted from resulting peace. Instead, we grew NATO and threatened Russia. And Russia has reacted with understandable resentment. I wish my friends in Russia, especially Mr. Pozner, health and happiness.

@@eugene7715 lots of points actually. His twisting of Russian history are many. America and the west helped Russians to survive from starvation after the revolution, WW2 & during perestroika. Russian population was never bitter towards west until Putin (a KGB director) & KGB in general seized the power in Russia. They silenced & wiped off all free press, they started militarism and anti-Western propaganda which got crazy aggressive over the years. The amount of lies that is now on Russian TV is staggering Vladimir Pozner tried & did not succeed in the US, returned to Russia & chose to played a role in promoting Kremlin’s message inside and outside of Russia which made him a very wealthy man. He is not going to be remembered well.

Conditioned reflex: At a community college in my home town, the psych prof taught a class on operant conditioning. The prof had a habit of pacing back and forth in front of the class. The next class a group of pranksters conspired to make more noise as the prof moved to the right and less as he moved to the left. By the end of the class they had him damn near out in the hallway...

I can't really agree ,I have seen about 20 mainly Soviet movies and I am an American and I see very little prejudice of the overhanded kind, in portraying other peoples including Americans and even Germans during the war. I see much more stereotypes (popular culture) in American films in general. It seems to be I really different attitude. But perhaps now the Russians will portray us as villains, in their popular culture.

    • @user-jq1po6ji5r

It's true, there is some distrust of Americans in society, but there are no aggressive or angry Americans, Europeans in the films. You can often see Americans (foreigners) in TV shows, in movies, and often these are comedies in which they make fun of Russian life, which is incomprehensible to foreigners. In these shows, the Russians themselves will be mocked first of all, but there will be no enemy in the Americans. The film "brother 2" is very popular in Russia, even in this film America is not shown as an enemy, but is shown as another culture

@@user-jq1po6ji5r yes thanks for that .Mr.Pozner is a good man and has a lecture on "the making of Vladimir Putin". I think although wise perhaps, he has a tendency to equivocate on a number of subjects especially toward the end of the video . Conditioning of people, yes and we are ultimately responsible this is a good point but things are much more complicated than that .he sounds naïve to me. for example Germany was under the Versailles treaty can you blame them in the beginning for Hitler? And when things got out of hand , from the decisions of many many bad governments who hated each other over the past , or because it was profitable and wouldn't negotiate.
And one more thing, Putin, is no Trump ( a dud )and he is a very long way from a "Hitler".
