In this tutorial I teach you how to crochet a 45-minute cowl using Lion Brand Yarn's Amazing yarn. All you need is one skein of yarn to make this gorgeous cowl. You can whip one up in less than an hour for yourself or make a ton to give as gifts.
The yarn is a 53% wool/47% acrylic blend. It's super soft and provides so much color variation in just the one skein. To make this cowl we crochet it using two strands of yarn from the one skein. I show you how to do all that in the video. Even if you are a beginner to crochet you will be able to make this! It's easy, fun and practical!

Thank you Vanessa! I've been wanting to make an easy, soft cowl just like this one. Your tutorial is so nicely explained, you are a great teacher. the final result is a nice cowl, I love it. It's not to bulky & so easy to wear. Also, loved the colorful yarns. Just on time for those last minute Christmas gifts. Happy Holidays Vanessa & thanks again.
I have been looking at cowl patterns for several weeks now and I love this one! I am going to be making this for the ladies in my family for Christmas gifts. Thanks so much! I subscribed to your channel as well.
I LOVE this tutorial! I've made 4 of these already for Christmas presents. Thank you so much!!!
Vanessa, this is a great pattern for us beginners. It is a good feeling to have a finished project.
I just found this and it is beautiful! I can't use this type of yarn because it has wool in it and I am allergic but I can use some other type of yarn! So simple and quick! I am so glad I found this!
I've crocheted before, but nothing advanced and usually get frustrated and quit because of the simple things.... I can make all the stitches, but could never figure out WHICH stitch was the one to join into at the end of a round. Sometimes, I'd end up with a lot more stitches per round as I went; I think I didn't ever skip that first stitch on each round that LOOKS like it ought to be worked as a stitch.... BUT, you just showed what I have not seen before.... looking for the "V" as the stitch to join in. A simple thing, but SOOO important when learning the right way and figuring where you might be going wrong! Thank you for showing that; it makes a world of difference!
Great tutorial! I love the colors of the yarn! It truly is "Amazing"
Thanks for this video. I made one in less than an hour :)
this is amazing and beautiful and i'm gonna make different colors for my daughter she gonna love it thanks you!!!!!!!!!!!!
My very first tutorial with you a d I found it very easy to follow. I used the Q hook. It was simple like you said and very beautiful. I subscribed and rang the bell. Bless you,jj
And I think it's really good the way you demonstrated it thank you
I am fairly new to crochet and I still have a hard time keeping consistent tension. I am going to try to copy how you hold the hook and yarn. Maybe that will work better.
Excellent video, easy to follow, beautiful cowl!I will give it a try and I will subscribe!
Love the colors and simplicity
My granddaughters will love this. Thanks for sharing. :)
thank you for a lovely, clear video on the crochet cowl. i'm off to buy a crochet hook! yarn, i have in plenty.
I'm getting ready to make my first crocheted cowl. I've been watching different videos all morning, and am glad I found this one because I like it a lot. I have only done single crochet, but I believe I can do this using your step by step directions. I'd like to enter for the free yarn, too. but not sure how.
Thank you for thi lovely video!

Thanks for this easy video!!! I am going to try to make this for sure.. Once again THANKS!!
Beautiful and so easy ❤️🙏
Love watching your videos, but would really like to see more quilting tutorials. :)
yeah, mine came out too small chained at 38 chains. I used the 10mm crochet hook. it's more Luke a large head band. I'll try again but chain more like 48 so it fits better.
Another awesome video. I want to make this for my daughter, and myself :) Thanks for the great tutorial ;)
Hi I`d like to know the width and the length of the cowl please ? i plan to use a 8mm crochet. ?
Great video! You explain what you are doing very well and are easy to follow. Great teacher!!! I have to try it. The yarn is beautiful. Thx much :D

Muy bonita y facil y rapida gracias.y me subscribi a tu canal
ok did anyone else get a little startled toward the 10:31 mark? Hey ms Vanessa you think you can do a video on how to read crochet patterns and instructions?
Beautiful yarn! Thanks!
Great tutorial!! My cowl was a little too small also, I think If I had used the larger hook it would have been perfect. How do I submit for the yarn giveaway?
Enjoyed this tutorial, but I do have a question. I 'd like to use the smaller hook ~ how do I make it larger around so that it falls a little further away from the neck (& not lose the warmth)?
Great video! I hope I win and I will make my daughter and I one of these cowls!
Great tutorial! You always make it look so easy, Vanessa! I love to crochet quick projects, so I am definitely going to give this a try. Great idea for Christmas presents!
Glad you enjoyed it! You could crank out a ton of these for the holidays. Happy hooking! :)

COOL BEANZZZ!!!
I am going to try this... thank you!
I like pretty colors
just found you on You Tube -- great pattern and instructions. Pattern and yarn are no longer available. I have other yarn that I would like to try. Do you have a free printed pattern for this 45 min cowl? Thanks for your help.
I know this is not in line with this tutorial, BUT......can you PLEASE do a tutorial on how to make gloves (sewing)
Hi, I love this scarf, can you use the unforgettable yarn? Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial Vanessa, I've made 2 so far and working on the 3rd now!
@jcklg5 I used Unforgettaable & Medley, the problem I ran in to with the Unforgettable is the yarn tangles really bad so next time I will either get 2 of the same skeins or put the 2 strains (from outside & middle) together from the 1 skein before beginning to crochet to prevent tangles.
Very good tutorial
I love your tutorials vanessa.:):):)
Vanessa
I love your projects!
If you choose another type of yarn, will it have that middle piece as well? Or is it only the Amazing yarn that has that?
Thanks!
If they are rolled into skeins like this one it will have it! I start all my skeins from the middle. :)
Thanks!
I can't wait to get started on this project!
Great tutorial!
Great cowl not tight . But we cant get wool or needle here .
how many more stitches do I need if I use the q hook, I want the bigger one, ty
I loved your explanation of how to do this. But my head is bigger than 38 stitches. I had to increase. LOL LOL
Hi Vanessa, thank you so much for all your amazing videos. Is this pattern for children? I have chained 38 and its so small.
Nope. It's an adult pattern just like the ones you see in this video. I followed the pattern exactly as printed. If it's small it could for three reasons: The yarn you are using is not as bulky as the Amazing yarn, you are using a smaller crochet hook so your stitches will be a lot closer together, or you are crocheting too tightly and need to make your stitches more loose.
TheCraftyGemini Thank you Vanessa. I was experiencing the same problem as Nicole.
TheCraftyGemini a
I am a beginner. Would it work to use lion brand hometown yarn? It's a bulky 6 yarn and requires using a N size crochet hook.
Hi Vanessa! The yarn you used has been discontinued. Can you suggest an alternative?
what size yarn is it, could I use #4ply 2strands same hook size or different looking to make some to donate
سلام
همه چی عالی هم آموزش هم انرژی زیادی که داری
Great thanks
Love it!!!
i like color yarnthank you
I will thank you 😊
Very nice project tfs : )
can you use the unique yarn. I was trying for a cowl to match the boho metropolitan hat
+Jt Doug Did you use the Unique yarn for the cowl? I'm wondering the same thing.
+MissTori2010 I went ahead and made this using the Unique yarn. I lengthened the cowl to 48 chains. It used about 1 & 1/4 skeins. Very pretty.
+MissTori2010 Oh, and I used an 11.5 mm crochet hook for it.
Whats the length of the cowl
Nice!!!
Where can I get the large crotchet hooks.
Ebay has a lot of crochet hooks.
I think the link to enter your contest is broken...? It tells me the page is not found. Love your tutorials, thank you so much.
same happened to me; says the page I was looking for does not exist [but it is the website for Crafty Gemini]
Thanks for the heads up. I just fixed it! Should work fine now: bit.ly/CGAmazingYarnGiveaway
I want the yarn
I wish there was a way ti get rid of those gaps in btw new rows 😒😒😒
Am I too late for the giveaway? 😅😅🤣🤣😅🤣😅🤣
I miss your old authentic videos. You seem like such a nice person but I'm just not enjoying these commercial style videos so will be unsubscribing. I wish you continued success and happy sewing :).
I'm going to disagree. I love how versatile her channel is. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the different videos, but perhaps that is because i sew, crochet and garden.
Love it!
