As I was making the list I figured this would be a great opportunity for a video! I have had the privilege of sailing on the Scarlet Lady twice and this information is based on my own experiences. Virgin Voyages is a relatively new cruise line so it is possible they may change things in the future.

The departure time is my biggest learning from Valiant Lady here in the UK last week. I initially was frustrated with a 4pm embarkation slot, but the luxury of not leaving the ship until 11am on the last day was so great - a move I genuinely hope more lines consider!

I drive to cruises out of Miami so driving to the port of Miami, a 7PM departure is GOLD! You can come in after rush hour ends in the AM and before it begins for the evening. A 3PM arrival would be, in my experience, perfect!

@@freshlysqueezedtravels Hi Kim, can i please ask your advice. We are sailing on MSC Divina from Miami for 11 nights in December and flying in from London, 2 Days before we set sail. We are fully vaccinated and could you please recommend a place to book a pre- departure covid test, and in a video did you say you had the test at the port? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.
@@andygrant1974tricky I get my tests done at CVS which is a drugstore chain here. I’m sure there is one close to your hotel. Walgreens also does them. You can book appointments online. And MSC did have test facilities at the port in case you don’t get your results in time. Hope that helps!! 🚢

Nice video! We were supposed to have cruised on Scarlet Lady this week but we did Symphony of the Seas the week before and both ended up getting Covid so we had to cancel. Looking forward to trying again.

Yes I’ve sailed on the Scarlet and Valiant Ladies from Portsmouth during Covid - sailcations where we didn’t go into port. Both ships are great but lack a proper swimming pool. The food is wonderful. Our sailing experiences were very different to the US experiences that I’ve seen on RUclips - they were scaled down without the US ‘panache’ but still enjoyable. I would not travel to the US or the Med especially to sail on them.

The 1x dining room limit per voyage applies to cruises of less than 5 nights

As someone else noted, the bar credit is now only for bar items, not general shopping. This is a policy change since you made the video. Also, the ability to make only one reservation per restaurant applies to cruises of 6 nights or fewer. On 12 and 14 night cruises, sailors can make up to 3 reservations at each restaurant as well as doing walk ins when available. You are limited in the number of advance reservations you can make, but you can change these reservations after boarding and can do "space available" walk in...so you can DINE in the same restaurant every night if they have space.

@@freshlysqueezedtravels I just called Virgin today and the one time use per restaurant is not true. You can go to any restaurant as much as you like regardless of cruise length.

My wife and I are going here in 4 days on the Scarlett lady from Miami. I can wait. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise. Hopefully it's a great experience for a first time cruise. I picked virgin because I seen adults only and was sold (this doesn't mean I don't like kids) lol.

Just a quick question.
We cruise in 3 weeks and got our room "bands" but are having difficulty adjusting them to fit our wrists as they are too big!
Any advice?
Hi! They can adjust them for you at check in on the ship or issue you new ones if yours aren’t working for some reason. Have a great sailing 🚢

just wondering, is there no breakfast as per say, is there only brunch? that is only in those 2 restaurants?? Also is lunch at every restaurant?
The Galley is virgin’s food court. That’s where most passengers eat breakfast. The Wake and Razzle offer brunch. The Galley is open for lunch as is the Pizza Place. Hope that helps. 😁🚢
Can you take food from the ship off when you go on an excursion? I’ve seen a number of videos where people said they went to Bimini and had to wait forever for food or wasn’t able to get any.
Hi! You can take some grab and go options with you. They have these in the Galley. Or go to the beach for a couple hours, go back to the ship and eat and then go back to the club. The shuttles run constantly. And the ship is usually there until 6 pm or so. I’ve never waited long at all for lunch btw. But Virgin has been increasing capacity recently. Hope that helps!
Did you get a mailed welcome packet with your wrist bands and luggage tags or did that happen at the terminal? It says on the website that we should receive them before our cruise. We sail in 5 days and we have no paperwork or luggage tags. We are just told to bring our passport and vax card to the port. This seems troublesome since I normally have everything ready to go weeks in advance. Can you provide some clarity?
Hi! We got a welcome packet for our second cruise but not the first. It wasn’t a problem. They just gave us our wrist bands at check in on the sailing when we didn’t receive them. And just have your stateroom number handy for the luggage handlers. That’s all they need. Hope that helps. I love that you’re a planner like me. 😀

I thought I read that Virgin didn't require vax cards or testing anymore?
@@ktdelsur You do not have to be vaccinated to sail but most cruise lines still ask and may want you to show at check in if you had previously had noted via online check in that you were vaccinated. My response was over 4 months ago so that pre check in question may have changed. Testing is also not a requirement unless one of the locations that you visit requires testing. Virgin will let you know if that will be a requirement.
Wish they had sports channels tho... gonna have to find a bar to watch the games

Great review..thanks. I have sailed on the Scarlet Lady...and there were so many things we really liked. But many we didn't like, untimely deciding it wasn't for us. But I will say the food is probably best quality we have had on any ship out of our 58 cruises to date. One of my pet peeves was the rule you mentioned.. you can only eat at a resteraunt once for dinner. Being picky eaters we hated Razzle Dazzle, don't like Asian food but absolutely loved the Mexican, steakhouse and Italian options. Being told we could not eat at one of those again absolutely infuriated me..we were forced to either eat at a place we know we didn't like or wait in a standby. Being in a huge Rockstar suite with a concierge, i thought they could make an exception, but no, they would not budge from policy. In the end I would have rather been on Royal and paid for my specialty dining, knowing I could go where I liked.
The ship was great and as mentioned liked so many aspects. But considering our suite cost about 2k more than a bigger better suite on royal and only for 5 days instead of 7, I probably wouldn't go back as the free dining aspect just wasn't a benefit for us.
Completely understand. My parents are also picky eaters and we ended up getting burgers from the galley one night. It was kind of fun. We are on their huge terrace. 😁 Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!
Can you take the bento boxes off the boat on shore excursions?
You aren’t supposed to take food off of the ship.

It’s a fun pub crawl throughout the ship designed to get you acquainted with the layout, meet people and try a few cocktails. I believe it’s $35 per person. Hope that helps! 👍🚢
Can you take canned drinks on?
Good question. Security generally doesn’t usually have a problem with canned non alcoholic drinks in my experience. We’ve brought sodas on board other cruise lines. But Virgin does include sodas with your cruise fare. Thank you so much for watching! 🚢

Yes that was our experience. We just had a general credit that could be used for anything. Also if you don’t spend it all they refund the money and clear all accounts before disembarkation. And yes they have an ice cream shop called Lick Me Till I Scream 😱. The ice cream is very good and it’s free. 😊🚢

Is it a good idea to sail Scarlet lady in September?
I think any time is a good time to sail with Virgin. 😀 It is in the heart of hurricane season but the chance your cruise will be affected is very low. You may want to watch my recent hurricane season cruise video.

Thank you for explaining alot of stuff. Me and my wife going on 10years marriage 💑 in 2025 we been together since 2009 got married in 2015. We looking a cruise for a couple get together. I Herd they are driven for younger crowd like us ?
Also my dad and mom cruise 🛳 alot with carnival they swear their best but don't like their are more family in kid driven and all pay extras .
Hi! Virgin is really good if you want a kids free sailing. They are definitely different and more “hip.” Especially if you are comfortable with using phone apps. I think it’s a great option for an anniversary cruise. 😊🚢
@Freshly Squeezed Travels thank you. My wife watch two or 4 or her sister kids depend on the time of year. My wife head back work this year . She work for medical some time plus help her family with family stress. We want way all kids for a trip more of us time .

Correct. I recommend upgrading to premium. Basic doesn’t do much. It’s even hard to send emails.

Finished on Virgin scarlet lady last week. I was unable to make any restaurant reservations or get any entertainment. I will not be back.

Hi! They have a food court. Not a buffet. So you place an order and the food is brought to you. They have tacos, ramen, sushi and a 24 hour diner. They have private karaoke rooms you can reserve for your party to have a private karaoke party. I think they also had public karaoke but I’m not positive. Thank you for watching!

No one goes on a cruise to watch sports. But some people like watching certain teams or games. It’s why they show them in most ship casinos.

The water thing would keep me from sailing them.
It is a different cruise line and not for everyone for sure. 😁 The room attendants put fresh and sparkling water in your stateroom every morning and night and you can get a glass of water at any venue on the ship. Thank you for commenting! ♥️🛳️
