      @@AviatorInspirations In a way, every flight school and airline is different. Some airlines require a certain amount of flight hours for them to hire you, and some require less. In my opinion, Canadian Air Traffic Controllers are more calm and polite than American ATC. Maybe it's because the US have more flights per day, and there are so many planes flying in every part of the US, it can be hard to handle a load of them. A big difference is that you guys handle the weather better than we do. If it snows even an inch at any airport, almost every single plane needs to get de-iced (If they stayed at the airport overnight) I've even seen a flight get delayed up to 9 hours before. Winter time can be a very stressful and annoying season for the U.S. when it comes to flying.

    Yaro, I am just getting started with private pilot training in the US but will be spending a few months in Quebec this summer. I am just doing private then ifr and have no plans do cli or commercial.
    I expect to get the certificate under the FAA and have gotten conflicting info on if I can have a Canadian CFI sign hours towards my training. I am assuming that they can not -- which is OK since I will easily cover the 40 hour minimum with the US-based CFI and the Quebec instruction will be additional and to keep learning for the 2+ months I am in Quebec.
    Do you have any feedback of guidance on this plan?
    Thanks!

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Miles! That’s an interesting question, and although I’ve never had personal experience with this, I want to lean as well to NO, your hours will not count. If you want to get a definitive answer, send transport Canada & the FAA an email with this question and see what they say. It’s been a while since I instructed and maybe things have changed. Other than that, the plan is great👍🏻 because you will be further ahead if you don’t pause your training for 2months.

    Hello there, I'm an Indian and I'm panning to enroll in a Canadian flying school (Select Aviation) next year which is like a college (a diploma degree would be given at the end of the course) that would give me a 3 year work permit after I finish their course. if I do 'exceptionally' good, the flight instructor rating would be given by them for free of cost and allegedly make you a FI in the same college (That's their claim but I've seen students of that college being a FI). I'm aware that the Canadian flying system is different from the Indian one (DGCA) and I'm also aware that I would require around 1500 hours to be eligible for an airline job in Canada unlike India where they start hiring you as soon as you're done with your CPL. I prefer this path so that I could get a good exposure and get my hands on tons of airplanes cause it's the journey that matters.
    So my questions are: 1) is it a good path?
    2)Is it worth investing on ground school here in India before moving there so that I could have a good knowledge about aviation?
    PS: I'm also a computer engineer graduate.

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  4 года назад +2

      Hey there! Looks like you have done good research and yes your plan is good👍🏻. I wouldn’t spend any money in formal ground school in India because you don’t want the Canadian instructors fixing bad habits if the training isn’t the same. However, you can do lots of reading on your own, learn about meteorology and flight instruments etc.

    Good day sir, so I’ve done my initial training in the U.S. I currently stand with FAA PPL and IR with having completed all my written tests. I wanted to know what process is it that I have to undergo to continue my flight training in Canada as well as instructing to work my way into the airlines. I often get confused between what they call modular or integrated courses, because I’ve reached half way through my training and I don’t know if they will accept that I finish off from where I started or if I’ll have to do the whole training again. Also would the program of getting a commercial and instructor license sufficient to get a work permit as a flight instructor or should I search for a diploma of some sort to be enrolled in a designated program, I am however planning to get a PR in the long road, so I just wanted to ask whether getting a PR right away would be the best bet or to go with a work permit first. Thank you for your time and I apologize for the long question.

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  4 года назад +1

      Why did you start training in the US vs Canada in the first place, and why do you want to switch countries? US airlines pay a lot more than in Canada, and you have more companies to choose from. If you are set on moving to Canada then you have to convert your license. First contact transport Canada, and they will tell you the process. You will have to pass the written and flight test exams in Canada as part of the conversion.
      To get a student visa, you have to be enrolled in a DLI, but you don’t have to do the whole integrated course, I believe you can do it as modular (I have a video on it, so check it out). But I’m not totally certain, so you have to contact the schools directly. To work, few schools will sponsor a work visa, so PR will be your best option. If the flight school is desperate enough for instructors, then they might consider it.

      Aviator Inspirations Thanks for the reply! I started off in the U.S. because of the many good reviews I’ve heard about flight training in Florida, and thats where I have trained, and I won’t say otherwise, it’s been a good time flying there experiencing different conditions, weather etc. I however with little aviation knowledge got myself into a flight school that (without mentioning names) ripped me off and gave me a very very bad experience, bad management, bad pedagogical skills, and it goes on. So I left the flight school, went back home as I’m not a U.S. citizen.. it’s been a year now and I’ve been thinking of starting off fresh and somewhere new, even if I plan to go to the US, I have no idea where to go and where I can (not completely assure myself because it nearly never happens) but atleast get proper and efficient flight training.. I’ve been looking up Canada and have been wondering what it’s like there. I found a few things that I find helpful like weather conditions and cost etc but I’m still digging into where I actually wanna finish my flight training. In the end, I could care less about how much I’m paid.. I just wanna keep doing what I love and fly :(.

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  5 лет назад +2

      I’m not sure what you mean by validate your CPL. You either have to do a license conversion, if your license is recognized, or do the full training. If you then study for an aviation diploma I’m sure that will qualify for a work permit. But that’s not my specialty, so I would send an email to the right departments in the government asking work permit questions, and to transport Canada about your license conversion
